"Go away from me, because I am a sinful man, Lord"

I cried when I read this because that statement Simon had made has been for the majority of my life with God a prayer that I've prayed when ever I mess up, feel inadequate, and just want to give up.

Why did Simon say that? I have no clue. But for me, it was just as he said it "I'm to sinful". The devil will use this well known fact and beat us down with it, discourage us, condemn us and drive us back into sin with it. He'll even convince us that God is rejecting us when were in the presence of other christians who genually have love for us and won't judge or condemn us.

LUKE 5:1-10
But look at what Jesus says to Simon in verse 10, "Don't be afraid". For me, rejection has been a fear, but I'm declaring deliverance is mine. If I was Simon, I would've felt pretty bad, being aggravated and frustrated at Jesus, snapping at Him like He didn't know what He was talking about, thinking "I'm a pro at this, he don't know what He's talking about". Then seeing the condition of my heart after seeing the results of what Jesus told me to do. Yeah, I'd feel salty, so salty that I would allow condemnation to come out my mouth and say "I don't deserve to be around you, why do you even stay around me. I must be a hand full". But Jesus loved Simon, like He loves us, so much that he didn't even answer Simon based on what he felt. He saw his heart and told Him not to be afraid.

It's one thing to fear God rejecting us, but it's another thing to fear rejection from people. Jesus knew Simon already, He's God, so He could be around him and love on him. Maybe we need to just know ourselves so much to the point that we'll just tell people straight up like "Look, when this happens, here's my reaction. If you are going to know me, just know this comes with it" and love yourself the way God loves you. That takes the fear of rejection out of the way. If they reject you, let them leave, but know that Jesus stays (Hebrews 13:5). And know this, you may push people away, but Jesus ain't leaving. Yep, I said "ain't",lol. Jesus stayed right on the boat with Simon after he said "GO AWAY FROM ME". Heck Jesus could've said "It is as you say", got off the boat and walked on the water until he made it on land. But naaaaaaw, Jesus stayed. We should be glad someone loves us enough to stay with us, even when we tell Him something about ourselves that He already knows. For us to say it means that He put us in a situation to finally acknowledge something we've been denying and overlooking ourselves.

If you don't get anything else out of this, get this:
Jesus loves you so much, even at your worst, He won't leave or reject you.
