I’M GOING TO LIVE UNTIL I DIE

"Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don't get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes.”
Matthew 16:34 (The Message Bible)

I'm gonna live till I die! I'm gonna laugh 'stead of cry,
I'm gonna take the town and turn it upside down,
I'm gonna live, live, live until I die.

Frank Sinatra

Tomorrow is not promised and today is all we have, so it is up to you and me to make the best of our time and resources, spending them wisely!! I don’t know about you, but I have wasted way too many hours, months and years of this life worrying about what might happen—and half of what I worried about NEVER came to pass!! It is time to get yourself in gear! Put on your big boy pants (or your big girl pants), get a straw and suck it up, build a bridge and get over yourself and apprehend that thing that has been just out of reach for so long!!

My Daddy used to tell a story about a young man who had a flat tire on a dark and lonely road. He searched his trunk only to realize that his neighbor never returned his jack after borrowing it several days before. He started walking as it was late and he figured that no one would be passing that way any time soon. He saw a light across a field and said to himself “that light is probably just a reflection from the moon—there isn’t a house there and even if it is, they are more than likely already asleep.” He continued walking toward the light and saw that it was indeed a house with the lights on in what appeared to be the kitchen. His step quickened and the faster he walked, the angrier he became. Again, he said to himself “Even if they are awake, they probably don’t have a jack and even if it turns out that they do have a jack, they probably won’t let me borrow it—they will more than likely want me to buy if from them for some unheard of amount of money!!” Now the young man is really angry!! “Why do people have to be so greedy,” he mumbled. As he stepped up on the porch of the house he loudly banged on the door. When the man of the house opened the door the angry, sweaty young man loudly announced to him, “I’ll give you $10 for that jack and not a dime more!!!”

You see, too often, we buy the jack before we even know what is available to us. We work ourselves up into a Holy Ghost lather and for what? We only make ourselves and everyone around us miserable as we imagine the worst-case scenario. Make a commitment to yourself when adversity comes to rest in God—place your full attention on Him who is able to do exceedingly and abundantly more than we could ask or think!! But whatever you do, DON’T BUY THE JACK!!!

Loving and trusting God, I remain,

Pastor Kathy
