TAG—YOU’RE IT
“Then they prayed, "Lord, you know everyone's heart. Show us which of these two you have chosen to take over this apostolic ministry, which Judas left to go where he belongs." Then they cast lots, and the lot fell to Matthias; so he was added to the eleven apostles.” Acts 2:24-26
When I was a young girl, my mother would volunteer me for everything!!! Much to my dismay, she would be quick to say, “My daughter will do that!” Most of the things she would offer my services to were tasks that I knew nothing about or they were things totally out of my comfort zone that caused me great anxiety. I felt like the proverbial “IT” in a game of tag. Yet, with her encouragement and support, I was able to complete whatever was required of me.
So much of what I had been exposed to proved to be a good training ground for my life in ministry. Learning to think on my feet and speak with confidence and clarity has been a saving grace in my adult life. God gets all the glory because it has truly been Him who has spoken through me!!!
It is the same thing when God tags you. When God says you’re “it,” it means your heart has been found ready to serve and it is your time to step up to the plate and fulfill His plan and purpose for your life. Destiny is saying to you “ready or not, here I am!!” You’re it—you are the one that God has promised to send. You are the one people are waiting on to bring them a word. They are waiting and anticipating your sound to reach their ears sounding the alarm so they can finally wake up to the truth of God’s word.
Matthias did not fill out an application to be an apostle. Taking the place of Judas Iscariot was not on his list of things to do. Yet, when they prayed and asked God to show them the hearts of the two men they were considering, it was the heart of Matthias that was found worthy of selection.
Jesus is saying to you today, “Tag—you’re it.” What will your answer be?
