Secular Music (Main Stream) v/s Spiritual Music

What type of music are we as Christians listening to? Is it ok to listen to R&B (Neo-soul), Hip Hop, Pop. Rock etc....

After having dinner with my friends, the topic came up about good pure music. They mostly listen to a lot of R&B, Gospel and Pop. A lot of names were mentioned such as Beyonce, Lady GaGa, Mary J Blige, Ciara, etc. I must admit, I'm not that familiar with some of the artist I mentioned above. So, I decided to do some research and I found most of it's shallow. In listening to Lady GaGa, ummm...... I don't get it. As Christians, can what we listen to really put us in a sinful state of mind?
