In the last few years, many states have enacted and passed legislation making it illegal to text and drive. These laws were passed as a result of the many deaths either caused by or a result of persons being distracted while driving.  The irony in the passing of the law speaks to the very core of what you learned in driver's education class: FOCUS!

When starting your business or even launching a ministry, there are many rules of the road in which you can follow.  Some of these rules discuss merging, hand signals, detours, road blocks, falling rocks, lane changing and even road closures.  However, whatever the rules are or whatever the signs maybe, the key to being a successful and effective driver is to stay in your lane.

In both ministry and business, there are things you will need to know and even some best practices from which to glean. Regardless, of all that, if you do not have focus, then you will not succeed. In order to obtain your license (the approval that you are good to go); the test proctor for the road will give you some basic instructions and then tell you to proceed. Your pass or fail is based on your ability to STAY IN YOUR LANE, which again is based on your ability to FOCUS!

For many, the necessary steps to launching your business/ministry have been completed and now you are on the way. The problem is you aren't making progress as you should. Why?  It’s because you are an erratic, distracted or drunk driver.  Oh No!!! Did I just say that...YES!!!

You thought because you started your business/ministry everything from this point would be smooth sailing. You learned to use your mirrors to change lanes, put the car in reverse and to defensively drive so that you don’t cause and accident. Yet, the thing that limits you from maximizing your potential is a lack of focus.  Your lack of focus is evident because you are trying to be all things to all people, you do not having a clear vision of where you are going and you keep doing what others suggest you need to do for your business instead of what was established when you decided to fire your job and got to work.

When you are focused on completing the mission, vision and serving the people for which you have been assigned, you are in essence staying in your lane. The key to your ministry/business success is F-O-C-U-S!  When you focus, you stay in your lane and reach your destination with great success.

Happy Driving!!
