The Precious Prostitute (Clear Commincation of the Word Will Connect Every Missed Connection)
I came across a scripture today that I heard preached by a traveling evangelist. What was so significant about my memory of this scripture is the fact that the evangelist totally misinterpreted the scripture.
The scripture in question is {JEREMIAH 31:22 KJV} "HOW LONG WILT THOU GO ABOUT, O THOU BACKSLIDING DAUGHTER? FOR THE LORD HATH CREATED A NEW THING IN THE EARTH, A WOMAN SHALL COMPASS A MAN.
First of all, I was irritated because here's yet another preacher/teacher playing the gender card in the body of Christ. The gender situation would never be an issue if the people of God would just study the Word, accept our purpose and place in the Word, let the Word kill every fleshly misguided element of reasoning we possess, and allow that same Word to subsequently BREAK US into BECOMING it, rather than US trying to BREAK the Word for the purpose of controlling its interpretation!
The evangelist contended (as many preachers before him had done so many times before) that the women of the church are "compassing" (running faster than) the men of the church and that the men need to catch up and get with the program.
This is why I am against subjective truth because when subjectively motivated men and women communicate the gospel they will always interpret the scriptures through the filter of their own humanity, tainting the Word with emotional brokenness and lack of understanding, which leaves equally broken and ignorant hearers with the only version of the gospel they are able to accept - the convoluted and humanistic version.
JEREMIAH 31:22 has nothing to do with the simple-minded ignorance of the organized church; however, it has everything to do with God's perspective concerning Israel and His desire to restore His chosen people to devotion and dependence upon Him.
The Hebrew word "compass" in the King James Version of this scripture means "to surround or embrace" - it has nothing to do with 'running' or 'racing' in any way, shape, or form.
The New Living Translation of the Bible speaks clearly to this fact by relaying the proper interpretation of this scripture:
{JEREMIAH 31:22 NLT} "HOW LONG WILL YOU WANDER, MY WAYWARD DAUGHTER? FOR THE LORD WILL CAUSE SOMETHING NEW TO HAPPEN - ISRAEL WILL EMBRACE HER GOD!"
The scripture does in fact speak of a woman, but that woman is "Israel" - and a man is also mentioned in this scripture, but the man is in reference to GOD! God is calling to His prostitute daughter Israel, "HOW LONG BEFORE YOU MAKE UP YOUR FICKLE MIND? I WILL CREATE A NEW THING IN THIS LAND: A TRANSFORMED WOMAN (A REGENERATED ISRAEL) WILL EMBRACE THEIR TRANSFORMING (REGENERATING) GOD!
See, people of God, we miss ministry by concerning ourselves with selfish humanistic agendas and personal vendettas. We minister with the intent and purpose of proving our individual philosophies and personal interpretations of the Word of God! Just think: the prostitute that God sees as precious, the body of Christ will disregard as something of NO VALUE! That's what happens when OUR REASONING overrides GOD's RECONCILING!
The word of God can not be loosely interpreted and subjectively digested. Leaders! We must hold others responsible for their communication of the gospel of Jesus Christ or it will remain ineffective in certain circles and particular religious bodies because of the traditions of men.
This mishandling of the Word of God is a detriment to the cause of Christ and works against the purpose for which we are sent. None of us, regardless of our rank or title in the body of Christ, can pick and choose what part of the Word of God applies to us.
John was instructed by the Angel of the Lord by way of revelation to "to eat the entire scroll", signifying that we must "eat" (submit, accept, ingest, digest, and receive) the entire catalog of the Word of God as truth for our lives NOT ONLY for 'correction', but for PREVENTION!!!
Being endowed with the infilling of God's Holy Spirit we are empowered to administer (through grace) the necessary food prepared to sustain fallen man. We are to copy (demonstrate) the commission declared by Christ;
(1) TO PREACH THE GOSPEL TO THE POOR: That's what God anoints, the condescending to those of lower estate. Reaching down to bring someone up!
(2) TO HEAL THE BROKEN HEARTED: The heart is the center of Godly consciousness!
(3) TO PREACH DELIVERANCE TO THE CAPTIVES: Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God, and faith without work is dead, preaching should provoke the work of faith.
(4) THE RECOVERY OF SIGHT TO THE BLIND: Physically and Biblically
(5) TO SET AT LIBERTY THOSE WHO ARE BRUISED: He was wounded for our transgressions and bruised for our iniquities.
(6) TO PREACH THE ACCEPTABLE YEAR OF THE LORD: He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord's favor has come, and with it, the day of God's anger against their enemies.
