“I am the true vine … You are the branches” (John 15:1, 5; NASB). John 15:1, 2 — “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit, He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit, He prunes it so that it may bear more fruit.”
Jesus is the true vine. In other words it is He Jesus who is the reason for the divine fruit that falls from the branches. That divine fruit represents the works that we do for the glory of the Lord. Without the anointing of God we cannot bear the fruit that God requires of us. Many will come bearing fruit and claiming that it is of the Lord, but if what they bear has no anointing and is not supported by The Word of God, beware, that is not fruit from the "true vine" which is Jesus! Jesus is the real vine that gives life eternal and secures his children with an abundantly spiritually rich life now and there is always HOPE for tomorrow.
God, our Father, is the vinedresser. As branches of the vine, we recognize that God Himself is patiently watching over our spiritual fruit bearing. God has an investment in us. That investment cost Him His own beloved Son and He has a right to expect a return on His investment.
What type of fruit is falling from YOUR BRANCH? The scriptures teach us that every branch that is not producing the desired fruit is unprofitable and fit to be cut off! On the other hand, the branches that are bearing fruit, bring great delight to the Father and he prunes (trims) the branches that they may continue to bear fruit. The pruning process can represent some of the trials that we go through. Trials have a way of getting us to prayerfully focus on the Lord so that we will DO what he has called us to do!
