In this world of instant access to people and information through the internet, the principal of long term investment, working now for retirement later almost sounds antiquated. However, in the arena of new business start ups; creating your client base, marketing strategies and such, the long haul is really the only options we have. Carefully building and making the right connections are crucial to our success.

I’m reminded of the Shunammite Woman in 2 Kings 4:8-17. She had Elisha over to dinner whenever he was in town. (Building a relationship) She had a room built for the man of God to stay in whenever he was in town. (establishing a connection) She didn’t ask for anything, she simply gave something of substance. I was listening to the Synergy Energy Blog radio show hosted by Pam Perry the other morning, when I heard one of the guest say the best way to build your base was to give. I tuned in more attentively. She said creating opportunities of success for others online through information sharing was the way to grow and be successful. (The Shunammite woman provided a place for the Man of God) I thought about the invites to web pages to be a participating member. Someone built this site we are on and sent an invitation to us. When we invite others to share on our sites, we are creating opportunities for both of us to grow.

The Lord granted the request that was in the Shunammite woman’s heart. She wanted a son. We all know the story that the son died and the man of God came back and brought the son back to life. That was the blessing of the investing then, to see manifestation later. I love that part of the story, but if we read a little further we will find something else that I think is key in this story.

This same woman had to leave her land for a season. (2 Kings 8:1-6) While she was gone, the story of her son being brought back to life had made it to the King’s ears. When she came to petition the King for her land, the servant told the King that this was the woman he was talking about and her son. When the King saw this walking talking miracle, he ordered that not only should she get her land back, but give her all the money that was owed her from the time she left until now. She received retro pay for all the time she was gone. She set this blessing in motion simply by giving in the first place.

We all want to be a success. By being a part of this network, we are making a statement about wanting to share with other people. Let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season, we shall reap, if we faint not. (Gal. 6:9) It will pay off after while!
