The Spirit of Sabotage
Introduction

Tonight: Building the Foundation: Godly Leadership
Is it in You?

Bless the Lord all my soul and ALL that is within me bless His Holy Name! I bring you greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the creator and sustainer of all things. As we come before His presence to hear from His throne, let us come before Him in the attitude of reverence and respect. As we enter into this study, let us acknowledge and employ the Holy Spirit who is the Spirit of Wisdom and Truth. He is a person and embodies the character of Christ. Without the ministry of the Holy Spirit the mysteries of the Word would go unsolved. Thank you Holy Spirit for giving me wisdom and insight as this study begins.

Let me first start off by saying I love how the Lord works and does things specifically and strategically. I had every intention of teaching you all about the seducing spirit. I have been teaching on spiritual warfare for a while and at the time, I thought that was a good lead in..but low and behold God, took me to what I am experiencing so that others will be blessed by it. Tonight, we are going to be speaking on the Spirit of Sabotage. The prophetic word has gone forth in the earth that this is a time for the manifestation of God's favor and indeed it is, but this is also a time period of increased warfare. Do you believe that the enemy is going to let you walk into your destiny without a fight? Think again. It will take all that we are and then some(of course under the power of the Holy Spirit) to stand in this dark and evil time period. The enemy is definitely out to hinder your progress and your praise because he realizes if you receive breakthrough and reach the place where God has commanded the blessing he cannot touch you. So he uses various strategies to try to get us distracted from our purpose As the study unfolds we are going to be hitting on the spirit of sabotage.

Many of you who I am speaking with tonight are leaders in various capacities. Praise God for embracing the vision He placed within you. At the same time, I know that this might have been a period of strain for you in the midst of knowing God has everything under control. Some of you may have even experienced the spirit of sabotage. So let us begin with a definition of what the spirit of sabotage is. Look in a dictionary and you will find this definition for the word sabotage: is a deliberate action aimed at weakening an enemy, oppressor or employer through subversion, obstruction, destruction, and disruption. It also means to trick or misguide. What does this definition mean in the context our our Christian walk? It means the enemy will use any means necessary to hinder your progress and defame your character all in the name of his kingdom, but the devil is already a defeated foe, so IT WON'T WORK.

Dr. Cindy Trimm describes the spirit of sabotage as a “strong demonic influence that drives people to abort the progress and success of divinely ordained projects, purposes, relationships, organizations, self-potential, and destiny. It stirs up jealously, resentment, suspicion, and is vindictive towards the person who detects it.

We are going to be studying from(primarily) the book of Nehemiah. Although I want to tell y'all the praise in the story of Nehemiah, the foundation must be laid first Tonight, we are going to begin with Nehemiah Chapter 1 and break down the qualifications of Godly leadership so that we ensure as laborers of the gospel that we are in proper positioning. Let us not confuse true testing with chastisement—there is a difference. We can also put ourselves in a position through the opening of doors to the enemy that we have no business opening. When we do, God has to correct us(whom the Lord loveth, He also chasetiseth). Let's begin the foundation

Nehemiah Chapter 1 gives background and insight. Nehemiah Chapter 1: 1-3 lays the foundation by explaining the remnant in Jerusalem(those who had returned from the exile) were in a terrible plight: the wall had been broken down and the gates had been burned down. Israel was in a place of destitution. The walls being down represented that they were wide open for attack. If there are no walls to your city any and everyone can come in and reek havoc. It is also important that we make sure that we build a solid foundation and we are armored fully by God according to what has been described in Ephesians 6:12-17. Where there is no protection there is easy access for the enemy to take advantage of the people.

God is so loving though, so he raised up a leader in the person of Nehemiah who didn't just say, “Oh it will be alright, it is just a wall.” He saw the danger surrounding his own people so he had a burden for their well being. In leadership, do we have a heart for the people who we are associated with? Do we function as the body or do we still try to function as our individual part? Are you concerned about the well-being of those in your care? How do you respond when the people you are called to lead are in a vulnerable situation? Well, Nehemiah saw the need and he went to Abba Father(Abba meaning Source). Thus we have a glimpse into the intercession that went on by Nehemiah concerning the state of the people. Nehemiah cried out unto God and asked Him to hear the petition of his servant on behalf of the people. He also repented of any actions that he or his people may have committed. That is a word in itself. He then asked God to grant Him favor in the situation so that he would be able to tend to the needs of the people.

So, God has given us others in our immediate care. How are we handling them? Do we cry out for wisdom, knowledge, and understanding(depth in God's word) to assist them? What are the needs around us? What has God called you to do? Are you responding?

So, these are just some things to be thinking about. Tonight is examination night for leadership and the heart of leadership.

So leaders, what is God calling for you to do in this time and season and how are you moving in it. This may be an encouragement for other leaders out there who are feeling the press—so I encourage comments about what we have discussed thus far. Stay tuned for more as we work our way into the warfare portion...........
