ABOUT TIMOTHY A. SHROPSHIRE. . .

Timothy A. Shropshire, also known as Shrop, is a native of Fayetteville, N.C. He was born on December 20th 1985 to Sammy and Sonya Shropshire. Tim, being the younger of two boys, always had a comical side to him even from a young age. Tim had been labeled the class clown throughout his middle school and high school career, even when trying his best not to be funny. There had been many times where Tim and his older brother, Terrell Shropshire, would watch “Kenan and Kel” a Nickelodeon Comedy Series, and Tim would ponder on this thought “…….man they acting crazy and getting paid millions and I am doing the same thing for free….” This thought would later advance him to a career in comedy. While growing up, Timothy found out comedy was a way out of trouble, both as a student and an athlete for the North Carolina A&T State University Football Team. It was at N.C. A&T that Timothy realized that he had a passion for comedy. While sitting out a year from football, he developed a stronger relationship with God. Shrop later became a member of Evangel Word Fellowship of Greensboro where the Pastor is Apostle Otis Lockett Sr. Timothy identified his passion for comedy through the book “Understanding Your Divine Calling” by his very own Pastor Otis Lockett Sr. Knowing that comedy was his passion, he asked God “What do you want me to do with this comedy.” His answer came when Timothy broke his fear and asked to do an Icebreaker at a church event. This led him to getting an opportunity to do a stand-up gig at a local college. His mindset was, “I don’t do stand-up.” Timothy tried the new adventure; however on the road, towards a career in comedy, Timothy faced the challenge of being unproductive on stage. It seemed as if he was not getting the same results of comedy that he got from hosting events as an emcee and acting in plays. As a result, this challenge caused him to give up on the idea of being a stand-up comedian. It wasn’t until Timothy was approached by "America’s Most Passionate Motivational Speaker" Ken Canion, when Canion asked Timothy to do just 5-minutes of stand-up for his Reality TV Talk Show. Timothy said that he was done with stand-up. Canion replied that the only reason why you are not doing stand-up is because you are scared, which was true. Timothy began to search his heart and step out on Faith. Not looking back, Shrop takes his life experiences and crazy thoughts to express it through comedy. Comedy that is real, passionate and most of all Funny--Comedy the way God likes it.
