What Matters to You Most? "For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." Matthew 6:21 I have always believed, that if you ever want to know what a person treasures the most ...just take a look at what he spends the most money on and the most time with. Some people would not dare admit that they are materialistic...but then if they were to look deeper and truly examine themselves, they might be surprised. Some would not ever be caught dead with anything generic or from a "regular" store ...and certainly would never consider anything used !!! But when it comes to what we give and offer unto God or what we would gladly give to others...all of a sudden our standards are oh so low. Well, God knows my heart , we quickly say...yes, indeed He does.
When we fail to see ourselves in truth's Light, oftentimes, God will allow situations and cicumstances to reveal "our hearts" so that we can take a look in Truth's Mirror. Sometimes the truth is not so easy to look at...especially when we have spent so much of our lives trying to portray a completely different image of perfection.
Some of us treasure our loved ones, our careers, our "stuff" and the list of possible treasures are endless. But when we are honest with ourselves about our priorities, then and ONLY then can we began to correct, and restore and rebuild. I believe that now is as good a time as any to evaluate our treasure and see if we are treasuring the things that truly matters or at least the things that God wants to matter to us the most. It's easy to get swept up into the cares of life and sometimes forget what the Christian journey is really supposed to be about. We should work and provide for our households and we must do daily chores and be responsible in everyday life but we must not allow our routines and schedules to create less and less time for prayer and time in God's word, etc.

“And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.”Luke 21:34

What day will come upon us unaware? The day of His Return …That day when we “ shall … see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draws nigh.” Luke 21:27, 28

If anything we must win the battle against time to incorporate more time for God and His presence in our day-to-day life.
We must begin to treasure God's word and time with Him much more than we do. God wants us to understand that we live, NOT by what we eat and how much money we can make or save but we live by EVERY WORD that proceeds out of the mouth of God! We live by our faith in God and every word He has spoken. The just shall live by faith. But how do we have faith…or how do we develop faith? Faith comes by hearing …and hearing, and hearing God’s Word!
“So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17
Read also Romans 10:16-18
The more of God’s word we hear through His servants and read in the bible, the more our faith will be increased to apply it to our daily lives. The more we take the time to read His word the more our inner man, or our spirit inside will desire the word. If you can conquer the enemy by picking up your bible to read and study God’s word, because make no mistake about it the enemy will do all he can to distract us and cause us to procrastinate,
then you will find that your spirit-man on the inside is hungry for it and he will gain spiritual strength to carry out God’s word when we feed our "spirit-man".
God’s Word is a lamp unto our feet and it lights the way to our path in life. Without God’s Word we lose…we fail…we cannot stand. Heaven and Earth will pass away but God’s Word will never pass away!
God’s Word is what gives our “spirit-man” fuel and energy to carry out the will of God in our life. Most Christians do not spend enough time feeding the inner man spiritual food but a lot of time feeding the flesh it’s natural food and also satisfying the appetites of the “carnal-man”. Whether it be through watching television . Playing video games, shopping, or what have you. What matters most to you? Having fun and relaxation and pleasure in the things of the world? Or is your fun and pleasure in spending quality time with your Heavenly Father, learning more of His ways and desires and praying for others?
If that is not exactly fun and pleasurable to you as of yet then that is a good indication that you need to develop a much closer relationship with His Spirit and His word. He certainly wants to be closer to you.
He loves you and He longs to be your everything! He wants you to know the power of His word in your life. He wants us to acknowledge Him in all of our ways…recognize He is there and ask Him for His guidance and direction.
And He will direct our path and give us the desires of our heart.

“Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.”
Luke 21:32, 33

What’s in your treasure of treasures? What matter most to you? What ever you care about God wants you to know He cares for you and everything that concerns you.
Even the hair on our heads are numbered. Give all your cares to Him and let Him show you how to simplify and maximize your life. When He is first, all other things will fall into its rightful place.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

Matthew 6: 19-21
