When Jesus went to the cross, salvation came to all mankind. At the same time, He nailed all the curses to His cross so that man is free from the Mosaic law and over 2,000 by laws that were construed by the religious leaders to support the 10 commandments.

Galatians 3:13
Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”).

The law was punitive. If you broke the law, there was punishment. Therefore for mankind it was also a curse. Jesus went to the cross so that he could take away the law and all the associated curses that man will never have to face again. For example, we don’t have to kill a lamb for its blood to wash away our sins. It is Jesus’ blood at the cross that washes our sins away. As a man, you don’t have to be circumcised anymore. The Mosaic law was replaced by grace (God’s unmerited favor). While law was governed by punishment and curse, grace is governed by love. This is the new commandment that Jesus has given us.

John 13:34
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

Have you ever wondered why Jesus never chose any religious leaders at that time to become His 12 disciples. Perhaps the religious leaders were too ingrained in the law and Jesus wanted a clean slate. If you think carefully, grace is a great extreme from law.

Here is a verse that we must always remember. If law can bring righteousness into our lives in this present time, then Jesus had died on the cross in vain. In other words, following the law will bring us nowhere.

Galatians 2:21
I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.

Do not get mix up with the law of the land. This is the country’s constitution so that there should be no lawlessness in the country. Again different countries have different laws.

In Jesus, we have abundant life as we walk in love. You are under a better covenant now as the Bible says you are more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus. You can never be cursed as all curses had been nailed to the cross 2,000 years ago. Hebrews 4:16 “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” It is no longer following the law to get help from God. It is now recognizing that there is a throne of grace that we can approach boldly to find help in time of need.
