Good day Prophet. I am happy that you are one of the few people working in India which is still close to the faith. I would like to be in your healing crusade if you can invite and accommodate me. It would be a nice experience to minister in India and I would be happy to work in any capacity you may want me to. My areas are discipleship and evangelism training. Thanks.

Ancestors and Generations
It has become apparent that to be effective in this ministry it is important to know how things work. And I start this study with some positive teaching about our God and His concern for the on going teaching of His word and power. Our God was the God of Abraham. He made a covenant with Abraham that would go on for many generations. A covenant that could not be broken simply because it was God’s covenant. He made the same covenant with Isaac and again with Jacob and so the three generations were locked together because God locked them together.

Since then satan has tried many ways to upset that generational pattern which God has set in place. Often enough he will attack our children, especially when they are young with a variety of temptations. And of course, unless they make a commitment after they are beyond the age of understanding they will inherit the son or daughtership of satan because of the fall in the Garden of Eden. Psalm 78 v1-8 tells us very clearly what our responsibilities are. We should teach our children about the things of God even to the stage of teaching them to teach their children so that the children yet unborn will know the things of God and His power.

And also Psalm 8 v2 tells us how God has ordained praise from the lips of children and infants. Often we will read the comfortable bit in scripture and leave out the portion we don’t want to face. But here in verse two it tells us the reason why God has ordained this praise in the children. Because of our enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger. Then of course the Psalm goes on and gives God the rightful place in regard to mankind. Our God knows that our children are vulnerable, especially to those, who would seek to teach them a supposedly better way.

Even the third commandment is conditional upon the obedience of his people. A punishment, down to the fourth generation for those who hate God, and love, to a thousand generations to those who love God.

The early chapters of Judges shows the way, in which the generations were hopped over swinging back and forth as each generation was bred and passed on. Gideon summed up the reason for the continual generational rejection of God in v13 when he asked God where were all the wonders they had been told about. In verse 14 God’s answer was very clear. You already have all the strength to lead the people. Go in the strength you have and you will save Israel. I will be with you. It seems sometimes today that we also don’t use the strength (power of God) which is available to us

So let us briefly look at some examples in scripture where the generations have been skipped.

Let’s think about Eli in 1 Samuel ch2. He was a Levite. A man of God.

1 ????????????????

2 Eli

3 Hophni and Phinehas

We read about Eli. He was a Levite and accordingly inherited the blessings pronounced upon Aaron and his sons.

However even though he cautioned his family about their evil ways they did not respond. In fact God called them the sons of Belial. It was because of their behavior that God laid a curse upon their family line. 1 Samuel ch2 v30-33 But where was Levi’s father? There is no mention of him in scripture. He was not worth a mention. Where was he and did he really fill his role in the temple.

Let’s look at Samuel in 1 Samuel ch1 He certainly was a man of God. In fact, he must have been of Levitical heritage to be accepted in the temple.

1 Elkanah.

2 Samuel.

3 Joel and Abijah

We read about Samuel and how he was given to the Lord by his mother Hannah. She was a person who made a vow to God and made sure she kept it and so Samuel became a servant in the temple. It was Hannah who petitioned God for a child. It was Hannah who promised the child to the Lord. It was Hannah who brought him to the temple even though Elkanah tagged along as well. Elkanah was a good provider and loved Hannah. He gave Hannah twice as much as any one else, however we have to ask the question why did it have to be Hannah who made these spiritual decisions at great sacrifice. Look at 1 Samuel ch8 v3 and see the sons of Samuel were also turned aside from Gods ways seeking dishonest gain, accepting bribes and perverting justice. This turned the people of Israel away from God’s ways and they demanded a king. Even though God allowed them to have a king they still had to put up with the demands of money on their lives.

Now let’s look at someone else.

1 Noah

2 Ham

3 Canaan

Noah was a man of God. He and his family of eight were the only ones saved from the flood. Ham, Noah’s youngest son accidentally saw his father’s naked body while he was asleep and instead of going and covering his father, went out and told his brothers about it. It fell to their lot to discreetly cover their father. When Noah awoke he was angry and cursed Ham’s son, his own grandson Canaan. Canaan became the father of the people who inhabited the land, which was given to Israel. These were the people God drove out of the land because of their detestable practices.

An interesting note, the word detestable comes from the Latin word "de testa yi to curse"

In Matthew ch27 v24 The Jews called upon Pilate for the blood of Jesus to be laid upon themselves and their children.

Teach of God’s unfailing love. Isaiah ch54 v10 tells of the covenant of unfailing love. Hebrews ch13 v20 tells of the blood of the eternal covenant that raised Jesus from the dead.

Do not be ashamed of the gospel of Christ. Ephesians ch6 talks about the armour of God and in particular the fact that our feet should be shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace. Be always ready and prepared to witness to anybody and everybody as opportunity permits.

So what should we do?

We must remember that Jesus Christ became a curse for us on the cross at Calvary. Cursed is everyone that hangs on a tree. Christ Himself stood in our place so that we can go free. And it is with the authority of Jesus Christ that we break any link that induces us to sin. (Mark ch11 v 22)

We must break the pattern of sin through the generations. We must break any curse, from any source other than God, that is over our family. We must petition God regarding any curse that He may have put upon us, confess the sins of our forefathers, forgiving them for causing that curse, and ask our God for forgiveness, Daniel ch9 v16-19. We must break the links of the generations, which come skipping down the generations. We must do every thing we can to follow God’s instruction in Psalm 78. Teach our children to teach their children to teach their children to worship God and silence the foe and the avenger. Psalm 8 v2.

Protect our children from people or friends or relations who might seek to lead them astray.

Praise the Lord!!! We have the victory through the blood of Jesus Christ. We have the authority of Jesus Christ. We have the power of God available to us and we have the leading of the Holy Spirit should we choose to accept it.
