Why Do Bad Things Happen To Good People?

Romans 8:28} We are assured and know that (God being a partner in their labor) all things work together and are (fitting into a plan) for good to and for those who love God and are called to His design and purpose. (Amplified)

Psalm 34:19} Many evils confront the (consistently) righteous, but he Lord delivers him out of them all.

Let's face it, we live in a evil world and it's getting worse by the minute. We also have an enemy who hates us, especially when we are persistent in our walk and refuse to give up. Just like Job we need to be grateful, thankful and always seek God in everything. The Lord just kept bringing up these two Scriptures to me today because many of His children are going through some very fierce trials in this day and age. But God wants to encourage us to keep seeking Him, to keep trusting Him, and to be confident in Him that He will deliver us out of everything that can come at us. Remember, it is our faith that will deliver us and heal us. It will be done according to our faith. So let's allow God to answer this question that is on all our minds......

We know that evil is built into this world, such as tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods etc. Jesus said that the wind blows and no man knows where it is going or where it came from. So as I explained in the first paragraph many sufferings come from an evil world.

Some suffering is self-inflicted. In other words it's by our own doing. Sometimes our suffering can be from the choice and actions of other people. Other times it can be from our own choices, actions or decisions. Too many of us move ahead of God without consulting Him. God gave us freedom of choice.... a free will. We can choose evil or we can choose good. When we don't seek God we can be assured that we will make very many mistakes, blunders and wrong choices and we will reap what we have sown. In other words, we will suffer for all these things. Not any of us would disobey the law of gravity and jump off a high cliff or a large skyscraper without a parachute would we? Yet many of us continue to disobey God's laws and we end up broken in some way. God told us to seek Him in "ALL" things. Obeying God and His word always brings in blessings.

Suffering is brought on by other people and the choices they make. We have had many evil rulers in the past who have brought destruction and death to many people. People such as Hitler, Herod etc... God didn't make us to be robots to follow anyone's whims and choices. We have the Holy Spirit and we really need to rely on Him at all times to help us make the right choices and decisions. Too many of God's children will continue to be hurt and suffer at someone else's choices. When we see something wrong we need to stop being victims and become prayer warriors for those people and those situations.

Some suffering is put on us by the rage of Satan. After all, look at what he put Job through, and Job was a righteous man before God. It is Satan who continually trashes God's creation and His saints, so let's be aware of this. Satan hates those who choose to do right, to walk in true humility and righteousness and he will do everything in his power to get them to quit or to curse God. Suffering and calamity may be an indication that you are on the right path. It's not always due to something you did wrong.

Suffering can be used as a tool to teach us something and to make us stronger and give us more Godly wisdom. Our attitudes going through things has a lot to do with whether or not we come out of these things. Our attitude will also have something to do with how we are transformed more into the image of Christ. The more we moan, groan, complain and every other negative thing, the more we will stay in those situations. Also disobedience in any form will keep us in those situations also. God is always trying to get us back on track. Sadly, many people, even Christians, have become stiff necked and want to do their own thing. It's so important to just go with the flow of what God is doing and be wide open for Him to do that work in us. Let's face it, trials and tribulations can knock a lot of nonsense out of us. It will line up our will with His will. Which can really be a good thing because we will be overtaken with God's grace and His great favor! Who wouldn't want that?

Suffering can make us better people, more loving, move giving, and more compassionate too. I know in my life I have and continue to have pain in my body. But through it all I have developed more of the love and compassion of Christ. I am learning day by day, changing day by day. And I've noticed that God is healing, He is doing it in a process for whatever reason, but He is doing it. God is doing continuous work in each one of us on a daily basis and will not stop until we see Him face to face. The question He would ask us this day is: Are we allowing His Spirit to have His way and are we doing our part, are we cooperating? God can and will allow suffering for our spiritual health and well-being.

Job was never given a reason as to why he was suffering so much. Many times, we won't be given a reason either. It all comes down to trusting God because His ways and His thoughts are so much higher than ours. We can use suffering as a tool for improving ourselves and our walk with God or we can use it as a tool for getting angry with God. I recently read a very good example of this, here it is: If you are an egg your affliction will make you hard boiled and unresponsive; if you are a potato, you will emerge soft and pliable. What a wonderful example! We should be praying: "O Lord, make me like a potato."

Always be grateful and thankful to God when going through things. I know some things are not easy at all. But God has a plan and we can do all things through Christ Jesus who strengthens us! God is arranging things to fit His pattern and weaving in us a beautiful pattern that we cannot even imagine. Remember, no matter what comes at you, if you truly love God, He will work it out to your good. He will raise a banner against your enemy every single time. He will mock Satan and use you as a trophy of His power! So be steadfast in your walk with God. Cooperate with His Spirit in all things. Seek Him as never before. And most of all obey and trust Him. God bless you. I love you, but Jesus loves you so much more than I ever could.
