Proverbs 1:24-31} Because I have called and you refused, I have stretched out my hand and no one regarded. Because you disdained all my counsel, and would have none of my rebuke, I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, when your terror comes like a storm, and your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you. Then they will call on me but I will not answer. they will seek me diligently but they will not find me. Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord, they would have none of my counsel and despised my every rebuke. Therefore they shall eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled to the full with their own fancies.

Who is speaking in today's Scripture? It is wisdom. Who is wisdom? The Lord for He is all wisdom, knowledge and truth. Many Christians today feel that once they are saved they are good to go. Not true, they are being fed a lie. Our salvation is a daily working out. That is why God tells us in His word to study the Word to rightly divide and to show ourselves approved unto God. Many love to quote this Scripture yet fail in a big way to obey it. If we don't get God's wisdom down deep into our spirits then we are going to fall into many traps and pitfalls. Not only that but make many wrong decisions and choices. How often has God spoken and we refused to listen? We need to remind ourselves that there are consequences to face when we are in disobedience.

God speaks through people, be they save or heathens. If He can speak through a donkey He surely can choose whoever He desires to speak to us. Many times God has sent someone into our path to give us a word of encouragement, rebuke, chastisement and correction. How quick we are to receive all the nice words people have to say to us? But how often are we open to be corrected? Sadly enough, not as often as we should. Too often we look at who the messenger is rather than recognize that God is speaking through them. Let's not be so quick to dismiss their messsage but take it to God and allow Him to witness through us and acknowledge that this message is either from Him or not.

Too often we get corrected by someone we allow our emotions to get in the way and we end up making a mountain out of a molehill. We need to remind ourselves that because God loves us to much He will do, use or say whatever He needs to in order to get our attention. He will even use those who rub up us the wrong way so to speak. Let's face it, many of us operate in that stinking pride and think we know it all, are better than others, have more knowledge than they do and we end up missing some golden nuggets from one of God's messengers. When we are truly open to hear and to be corrected then we know that we are maturing spiritually.

On the other hand, the dangers of not being open will surely bring devastations and calamities on us. The worst part is God will not listen to our prayers. Why should He when we are in rebellion and refuse to listen to Him? Too many of us just love having our own way rather than allowing God the full freedom He needs to transform us more and more into His own image.

Personally, in my life, I have many that are quick to speak and slow to hear. Ever encounter someone who you are trying to talk to and they are very disruptive by speaking over you constantly? That is not only rude but very foolish on their parts because the Lord many times will be trying to speak through that very person who is speaking to them. Pride is the root of that. The need to be heard and to be right all the time. If I ever get to that place I hope people pray me out of that and God shows me so I can repent and become a good listener.

We need to remember that whatever we sow into our lives, be it good or bad, we will reap of it. That is what the Lord means in today's Scripture when He says: Therefore they shall eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled to the full with their own fancies. So let us begin today to be very humble and open to hear. Ask God to make you a good listener. But most of all let us be very careful what we sow and what we take in. It's time to be obedient to God's word if we desire to be truly blessed. Let us seek God and His wisdom as never before. God bless you, I love you, but Jesus loves you so much more than I ever could.
