Hebrews 10:23-25} So let us seize and holdfast and retain without wavering the hope we cherish and confess and our acknowledgement of it, for He Who promised is reliable (sure) and faithful to His word. And let us consider and give attentive, continuous care to watching over one another, studying how we may stir up (stimulate and incite) to love and helpful deeds and noble activites, not forsaking or neglecting to assemble together (as believers), as is the habit of some people, but admonishing (warning , urging, and encouraging) one another, and all the more faithfully as you see the day approaching.

Church, the Body of Christ, is an umbrella of protection over us. Why? Because some of us may be operating in things we don't see. God will reveal to others and they will pray us through. Also we have a blessing for someone and someone has a blessing for us. When we don't attend church we miss out. The assembling together that God is talking about here is not the social realm where we get together with friends from time to time. Which by the way is the lie many Christians are believing today. The devil whispers: You don't have to attend church, just get together with some of your christian friends from time to time that will work. Not! The corporate anointing comes down in the corporate assembly. This is the assembly God is talking about. Being under a pastor, a leader who is anointed by God to be the head over us to teach us His word. Together we can have an impact on this world. Separated from the corporate Body of Christ the power is weakened.

The Word of God is a roadmap for us while we live on this earth. It contain warning signs and shows us the way to handle temptations and trials when they come our way. Without the word we cannot maintain our body and our spirit properly. It guides us through victoriously against anything that comes our way. God's word promises us that we will face many troubles but God delivers us out of them all. But we also have to know the Word in order to use it as a sword against the enemy's attacks. It's good to be sitting under someone who not only knows the word but has applied it to their lives. Pastors and leaders help us to apply the word correctly to our lives. But we have to do our part and study the word to rightly divide and show ourselves approved to God. Why? Because there are many false doctrines out there and many are being deceived.

Proverbs 27:17 states that iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend. Whoever we hang around with will have some impact as to how we appear and become. Without belonging to a church many of us will become complacent, unproductive, fruitless and powerless. We have an accountability here to ourselves and others. We are responsible for our actions and our behaviors. I see so many Christians who have left the church and get involved in things like fortune telling, horoscopes, love of material things, let go of friendships they used to have with other Christians and just don't keep in touch. All these things are dangerous to our walk with God. For one thing fortune telling and horoscopes lead to open doors to the demonic. Love of things and money becomes a god before our God. Sooner or later we will meet with our downfall when we forsake God and the assembly. Without accountability in our lives it will be easier for us to be deceived and to fall into sin.

So how do we know which church to attend? First pray and ask God where He wants you. Then you have to have guidelines by which to follow. Some questions you can ask is: Does this church have a biblical foundation? In other words is what they teach line up with God's word. You won't know this unless you study the word for yourselves. Is there demonstration of God's power? Is the Holy Spirit free to move in the church or is it same thing over and over again week after week? Do you have opportunities to use the spiritual gifts God has given you? Do you understand the vision of the church? We will know them by their fruits. How many fruits do you see in the leaders and people of this church? Are they walking in spiritual freedom, love, compassion and all the characteristics of Jesus Christ? Remember also that there is no such thing as a perfect church. If you see something you may not like, pray about it don't desert your church family. Also don't develop a touchy spirit and leave every time someone or something offends you. Pray! Persevere!

More and more the Lord is stressing for us to come together as a corporate Body. God is dealing with His people for too many have become complacent and cold in their walk. The biggest thing I see is that many are in disobedience and do not recognize it. Their spiritual discernment has been clouded because they have walked away from that umbrella of protection. They have lost their zeal and passion for God. As the day of Christ's return I would really urge you to get that passion back and attend a church and get connected once again with the body of Christ. Otherwise you will miss the greatest move of God ever seen. Remember, some weeks may be quiet in your church services. It will not always be goosebumps and thrills. But through the years I have seen the greatest miracles happen in the quiet times. It's time we walk hand and hand and take back what the enemy has stolen from us. It's time we stop giving into the lusts of our flesh and walk more in the spirit. Don't go to a church just to socialize or to be with people you are comfortable with. Go there for God. Be hungry for the move of the Holy Spirit. God bless you. I love you, but Jesus loves you so much more than I ever could.
