I now understand more and more about this so-call world of "Hip-Hop". I understand now why "Hip-Hop"has really no place in our churches and yet it's slowly creeping in our church doors. After hearing all of this, I will stand behind fellow clergy members by NOT allowing "Hip-Hop" into our churches.

Pastors,Ministers and Church Leaders, would you allow "Hip-Hop" in your churches? Is this a way in keeping our youth in church? I am interested in all feedback concerning this issue.

..I recommend you fast and pray for a few days and ask God for clarification...full 3 day no food only water ....no tv no radio no internet....just You and Jehovah....and while you guys are really talking about the far more important stuff...(I find He has a habit of interrupting what you think is really important) I am sure he will correct you on this whole Holy Hip Hop thing and we will all move on...

I do however agree on the fact that some folks do worship the pulpit and the musicians...but just cause they do ...does not make the pulpit or the musicians unholy ..just the people doing it misguided and in need of correction
Brother Kisbahlayish,
This is something we all should do. I trust in God and lean not on my own understanding but, especially in weighty spiritual matters, I make sure to get before the throne of glory before attempting to present anything Kingdom-Related.

In your suggestion, you demonstrate spiritual maturity and the liberty promised by the Holy Spirit. I thank God for you!
Well before you do Bro. Jenkins...what do you find acceptable as Gospel music?
Holy Hip-hop? Holiness means moral perfection and hip hop is anything but moral perfection. There is a line of reasoning among Christians that it is not possible for them to be deceived by the devil. Yet, Matthew 24: 24 - 25 says, "For false christs and false prophets will rise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. See I have told you beforehand" We displease Jesus when the things of this world are used to take His place (Matt. 6: 24) it appears that the devil is at work today by causing some of us to believe that the street music of Hip-hip has a place in God's house, it shouldn't be there but we allow it, how sad.
Rev. Miller,
I agree, there are, and will be, false Christs. I also believe that we should be separate from the world. Yes, Jesus would be disappointed to see how much of the world the Church has absorbed. However, I think He'd be equally displeased with the religious spirit that holds the Church in bondage. I find it ironic that man has successfully build a religion around the very God-man who came to earth to destroy religion.

When we decide to use this music or that, this program or that, what is the litmus test. Is it truly the Word of God or is it the tradition(s) of men.

Sir, i believe your intentions are pure regardless of whether or not I agree with you. Nevertheless, that is not the case of some that state agreement with you.

I stand by my original assessment taken from 2 Corinthians 3:17, "Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty." From that, I extrapolate if there is no liberty, the Holy Spirit is absent from it.Jesus, Himself said in John 8:36, "f the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed."

Anything less is bondage and manipulation.
Oh Bro. Day???

I also believe that we should be separate from the world...can you tell me how Hip Hop separates us FROM the world?

Someone once said that Freedom simply means that you have the ability to do that which is right, not whatever you want to do...

"I find it ironic that man has successfully build a religion around the very God-man who came to earth to destroy religion" can you help me with that one?

See I read in James 1:26-27 I like this part..."Pure religion" an undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless, and widowsin their affliction, and to KEEP himself unspotted from the WORLD...sounds a little consistant with John 8:36...(he came to DESTROY) religion? really?

Here's a good one James 1:16-17 Do not err, my beloved brethren. 17 Every GOOD GIFT and every PERFECT gift is from ABOVE, and cometh down from the father of lights, with whom there is no variableness, neither SHADOW of turning...hmm...just trying to remember which one of those old rapp songs came down from above...I'm at a loss...can you tell me which Hip Hop of the songs fits the above description?

"When we decide to use this music or that, this program or that, what is the litmus test. Is it truly the Word of God or is it the tradition(s) of men..." which is which? are you saying its the rap music that is the tradition of men? or are you saying that rapp music is from the Word of God?

Now you used 8:36; if you read 8:31-38 in it he says that if we CONTINUE in his WORD; THEN are we his disciples [in-deed] our actions will reveal who we are...please help me understand how rejecting the world for the word put us at odds with Christ...

In this text Christ is identifying clear lines of separation between those that are his and those that are not...If our choosing to stand on the side of the Word of God; puts in the FREE column than it seems to me that those who uplift sin is on the side of bondage. How then do you gather that we are advocating "
bondage and manipulation"?

If you can help me out here I really would appreciate it.

Sincerly,

Pastor Hodge
While I will not answer for Brother Day, I will say this,Threskeia as the word used by James here, is not what you really want. After all if all you want are the trappings of religion, the ceremony, the pomp and circumstance, the mythology, the pantheon and the like, then this is the word that you want. I thought what we preach is relational, not bound by ceremony. I do believe if you look a little deeper into what James is saying here, you will discover that he is drawing a contrast here.... Brother Day the floor is yours
Thanks for not answering for Brother Day.
You mean like you did not answer for Brother Miller??? No prob (BTW do as I say, not as I do, doesn't work on most adults.Come to think of it, it doesn't work well on children either, it can make YOU look bad
That was an attempt at humor...You started your response with " While I will not answer for Brother Day and then you proceeded to answer for Bro. Day, I simply thanked you for Not answering for Bro. Day.

By the way I was not answering for Bro. Miller, I was addressing the positions and broad statements that Bro, Day made...I don't want to accuse him of calling us "False Christ" or keeping the Church in bondage or manipulating the truth or anything like that...so I really wanted him to explain what he said before I draw a conclusion that could be in accurate.

If I am correct as I think I am; he made some pretty seriouse accusations against those of us that do not agree with him and would really like him to explain what his position.

Do you have the authority to explain his words? Are you able to explain his thoughts?

He also said that the "God man" came to destroy religion??? I don't know what he means by this???
Uh sorry attempt at humor, and I already said I was not going to answer for him I am going to let him defend his own position he is more than qualified. I need not explain anything for him. As I stated I am not going to answer for him the way you answered for Brother Miller, regardless they were having the conversation. They had the floor and were having the conversation, it would be rude to interject at this point. However since you brought up James 1 I thought it would be beneficial for you to have some background so that if you needed to rethink your answer you would have the complete picture should you need it.By the way do you have any biblical commentaries, if so you would know that the subject of the book of John was focused on the "God man" they are really good resources
Brother Anthony,

I am really having a difficult time trying to understanding just what it is that Brother Hodge answered for me. My last post was a comment, and Brother Day responded to the comment and that was it. A question was presented to Brother Day by Brother Hodge and you did in fact attempt to answer the question for him but I still didn't quite understand your answer. Be that as it may, I will go ahead and ask you the same question again since Brother Day says he trust you so much, how does hip hop music separate us from the world?
