What does prosperity mean to the Body of Christ.  Does it has any place in teaching, is it

for the body, should it be taught or should it be ignored.  What is biblical prosperity?

What does the bible has to say about this topic?

Pastor Sweet,

Thank you for your prompt reply. I believe that in your thorough reply, something was lost in the translation. The King James Version reads:

(38) Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?

(39) He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

Strong's renders it thusly:

-------------------------------------

G3306 — Strong
μένω

menō

men'-o

A primary verb; to stay (in a given place, state, relation or expectancy): - abide, continue, dwell, endure, be present, remain, stand, tarry (for), X thine own.

-------------------------------------

Note the word abide here. When Jesus says in John 15:7, "Abide in Me..." He is not saying "visit," he is saying "live." Likewise, the scripture here is speaking of a dwelling place, not a place of visitation. Why else, then would Jesus say "Come and see!"

Contrary to your assessment, I did not read my own interpretation into it. Scripture interprets scripture. And I preach prosperity only as it is presented in scripture (3 John 2, John 10:10, Matthew 10:29-30). There is no commandment to take up a vow of poverty and there is no piety in lack.

Am I saying that all should be rich? God forbid. No, what I'm saying is we should have all our need met (Philippians 4:19) and sufficiency to abound to all good work for the Kingdom (2 Corinthians 9:8). Not everyone in the Kingdom is called to wealth but I am fully persuaded that NONE are called to lack!

Now, if you're okay with taking a vow of poverty, I wish you well in that endeavor. However, teaching that our Lord was impoverished and that we should be likewise is bondage. I will not, in the name of Jesus, be a party to that!

Blessed Regards,
Pastor Day
Luke 8:3
3Joanna the wife of Cuza, the manager of Herod's household; Susanna; and many others. These women were helping to support them out of their own means.

These women worked cleaning or whatever, and with this moeny they suported Jesus and the disciples..now If Jesus was rich why would they have to support him?
can you see what this false gospel of prosperity is doing to people?
Mary then took a pound of very costly perfume of pure nard, and anointed the feet of Jesus and wiped His feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. But Judas Iscariot, one of His disciples, who was intending to betray Him, said, "Why was this perfume not sold for three hundred denarii and given to poor people?" Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it. [John 12:3-6]

The scripture implies that the money was stolen from the treasury Jesus and the disciples maintained to bless the poor. In effect, Judas embezzled from the poor.
Mathew was a tax collector before Jesus...was he still collecting taxes after he followed Jesus?  Judas was a thief before..
you said: If a person accepts Christ in their life and their spirit is born again or regenerated.

Correction: We don't accept Christ he accepts us,#2 accepting Christ is a work that we do, the bbile says we are not saved by our works, thus, accepting christ isn't a means to salvation..the churches teach misunderstanding and have taught that for years...actually its offensive to think that we can do something or choose to become born again...we only become born again if we #1 are chosen for salvation from before the foundation of the world ..

Ephesians 1:3-6
His Word declares that in His love He predestined us "according to the good pleasure of His will." It does not say that He predestined us according to what He foresaw we would become, that He chose us because we were from a particular ethnic group, or that He picked us because of some mark of intelligence, character, looks, ability, or any other quality. Just as in Deuteronomy 7:7-8, His calling of us occurred out of the good pleasure of His will. He gave to us the same privileges and opportunities as He did to Jacob rather than Esau, and they were extended on the same basis—by God's election following the counsel of His own will and not by our works.

1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. ( Jesus )

1:7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

( here God teaches us that the Inharitance is salvation NOT MONEY as the false preachers teach.)

#2 we can only become saved by hearing Gods word, faith comes by hearing and that hearing of the word of God....

1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

this verse here speaks only of the elect of God that hear the word...

1:14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

1:18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

before we are born again we are spiritually dead..thus our spirit cannot do anything or believe anything because we are dead...

Ephesians 2:1-10 1 In the past you were spiritually dead because of your sins and the things you did against God. 2 Yes, in the past you lived the way the world lives, following the ruler of the evil powers that are above the earth. That same spirit is now working in those who refuse to obey God. 3 In the past all of us lived like them, trying to please our sinful selves and doing all the things our bodies and minds wanted. We should have suffered God's anger because of the way we were. We were the same as all other people. 4 But God's mercy is great, and he loved us very much. 5 Though we were spiritually dead because of the things we did against God, he gave us new life with Christ. You have been saved by God's grace. IF YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED...
Greetings Preacher,

Yes you are correct in saying God chose or chooses us.

But we have the freedom of choice to accept the call of God.

Pastor R. Phillips
If God chooses someone or elects someone to become saved and we reject it, then we are stronger than God, and God made a mistake by choosing us..
the bible is written to all men...to some for salvation and to some for a witness..
Pastor Phillips,

Thank you for starting this vitally important discussion. The notion that God wants any of us to be poor is, at best, a terribly flawed doctrine. Similarly, any church, pastor, or doctrine that teaches that all believers will become millionaires or better is just as fallacious.

That said, I think the Bible is quite clear in that it is God's will for us to be whole; nothing broken, nothing lacking. The Greek word most frequently associated with salvation is "sozo." This word has a four-fold meaning:

1. Salvation from sin
2. Deliverance from demonic oppression
3. Bodily healing
4. Material blessing

Allow me to use a chair as a metaphor. If one or more legs are missing, then the chair is imbalanced and cannot effectively support someone. Many pastors, churches, and doctrines willingly stop at salvation and, thus, ignore the abundant life Jesus promised in John 10:10. Likewise, far too many pastors, churches, and doctrines focus on numbers 3 and 4, making light of the redemptive work of Jesus on the cross.

In other words, life in Christ is far more than a ticket to heaven and hope of reward in the "sweet-by-and-by." It is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen -- not just in the world to come, but in the "here-and-now!" Jesus, Himself, illustrated this in Mark 10:29-30:

(29) And Jesus answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, (30) But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.

The Apostle Paul illuminated this further in 2 Corinthians 9:8:

And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work:

Therefore, we should have an earnest expectation that our heavenly Father will supply all our needs; indeed, that He will provide exceedingly and abundantly above all we could ever ask or think! God wants to do the amazing for us but He will not if we refuse to believe that He can!

Yours in Christ,
Pastor Day
Its Obvious that God wants some of his children poor...because not all belevers are financially wealthy...
Brother, I say this in love...that is twisted theology.
More than that: THAT IS UTTERLY DEMONIC IN ORIGIN!
