The True Purpose of a Prophet
What is the true purpose of a prophet in today's world, an end-time prophet? Many people think that prophets are just here to prophesy luxurious things, while some don't understand their true purpose, and others think there is no need for any prophets because the Bible is has been complete (completely exiting out 1 Corinthians 12:28 & Ephesians 4:11-13). But prophets of today's world are not here to prophesy "new" things, add to the scripture, or to preach a new gospel, but a prophet is supposed to be able to hear from El Shaddai (God Almighty) and speak what He is saying, what He is thinking and how He feels about His church (His people) and their current state.
Prophets are inspired messengers, telling the people what "thus said the Lord", beyond just fortelling future events (because we know anyone can be used to prophesy). A true prophet won't always say "nice" words, because if the prophet is saying what The Lord is truly saying then the words won't always be so nice, but some words will be rebuking and convicting, warning us and telling us to get in order with the divine will! People now days like to claim the title according to self desires, but havent been ordained into the office by the one who does all the calling and choosing. False prophets prosphesy peace when there is none (and lately want money just to give a "prophecy" - which is unbiblical), while true ones speak what our Heavenly Father is truly saying to His people about ourselves (and so on) and never say anything that does not line up with His Word.
In these last and evil needs the believer has to be rooted in the word for his or herself and truly have the Holy Spirit on the inside to be able to discern the true from the false. Sad to say there are more false prophets out in the world being accepted as authentic, then true prophets who are usually deemed to fake because they speak things that don't scratch itching ears, but cut the flesh (rebuke and correct). What do you have to say about this?

So many people have a Balak mindset... like the Moabite king in Numbers 22, they think they can pay the prophet to pronounce pleasant things over them. And some ersatz prophets have the spirit of Balaam, and cater to the wishes of the people in order to get paid. But some of us want a genuine word from the Lord: it may not always make you feel good, but at least you know it is true. And there are some trustworthy saints with a gift of prophecy--who aren't looking to collect an offering out of the people, but just have an unction to tell "what thus saith the Lord."
