New Pastors: Advice for the New Pastors: The what "to do's" and not "to do's" on Day One

I remeber my first comments on the BPN was under Min. Lockett discussion regarding "My First Sermon." At that time I was like him "An associate minister, faithful, patience, prayerful, hard working, and preparing for the day when God's will would allow me to pastor a church. You hear the discussion all the time, "When I am a Pastor, I will do this and that. We dont covete the position but we see ourselves preparing for the opportunity. Well, my season is here. After prayer/fasting/listening I recently accepted the Letter from a church to Psator. Words can't describe how I have been feeling. I'm careful to request to stay in God's mercy, remain humble, listen twice before speaking once, trying not to fix things that are not broken, (that is another discussion) learning names, praying frequently, and teaching/preaching. Every Pastor who I know has called, emailed, & texted congrats but I'm looking for advice from some of the experience members of BPN to begin a discussion of advice to new Pastors. I would rather learn from others mistakes than make them. School can prepare you but on day one, life experinces re-train you. by the way, all those ideas you had racing through your mind before you became a Pastor seem to exit on day one. I would like to hear your advice to New Pastors. I have always been one to recieve advice and learn from it.

You can never tell the false from the real until you
Subject it to a test. Many things will test the loyalty and faithfulness of a Pastor. When I decided to pursue the ministry instead of legal profession, my commitment was tested many times. My commitment to the church has been tested on several
Occasions. There are three main things that will test
Everyone’s loyalty: distance, time and fire. If you pass these
Tests, then your loyalty is real. Very few people can imagine the ability of time to test our resolve to stay loyal to our words.

The Apostle Paul was shocked that a group of Christians
Could so quickly change their minds and commitment.
Early and Late Disloyalty
In some cases people become disloyal very early in the
Course of events. This is what I call early disloyalty. People
Suffering from early disloyalty are not able to withstand the
Test of time. In other cases, people become disloyal after
Much more time has elapsed – this is late disloyalty.
Individuals who experience ‘late disloyalty’ have a greater
Ability to withstand the tests of time, but eventually fall away.

And he said, therefore said I unto you, that no man
can come unto me, except it were given unto him of
my Father. FROM THAT TIME MANY OF HIS
DISCIPLES WENT BACK, and walked no more
with him. Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye
also go away? Then Simon Peter answered him,
LORD, TO WHOM SHALL WE GO? thou hast the
words of eternal life. And we believe and are sure
that thou art Christ, the Son of the living God. Jesus
answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve and
one of you is a devil? He spake of JUDAS
ISCARIOT the son of Simon: for he it was that
should betray him, BEING ONE OF THE TWELVE.
John 6:65-71
You will notice from this passage that after a short while in
the ministry, several of the disciples deserted camp. They left
the church and refused to be part of Jesus’ ministry anymore.
From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked
no more with him (John 6:66). This is a good example of
‘early disloyalty’. These disciples failed the test of time very
quickly indeed.
However, the twelve apostles were not so quick to fall
away. Even Judas Iscariot was not moved. But Jesus knew
that with the passage of more time, Judas would betray Him.
That is why He said, “Have I not chosen you twelve and one
of you is a devil? He knew it was just a matter of time before
there would be some more manifestations of disloyalty.
Can you stand the test of time? Will you be there when
everyone is gone? How much longer will you last in the
ministry? For how much longer will you preach the things
God told you to preach? How much more time has to elapse

Why do we have new Pastors that imediatly start asking for momey.. MOMEy...MONEY...MONEY... it turns off the ministers under them and allows room for the ememy... I am currently going through on this one.... and they use scripture to get the money out of the pockets of the people.. I think it is absolutly disgraceful...Pls help me i have prayed on it an God has me to stan in this place..I can still get the message but i am disinchanted with the ledership... they are clichish..( even the pastor ) .Jus this week i listened to the leadership cd... the Pastor told the ministers that " if anybody talks against the pastor that is witchcraft"... i think what he told them is wicthcraft... Pleas help...Feels like a cult...
