Should a pastor that spends most of his time preaching and teaching get paid for what God has him to do? I know what the scriptures says about this, but would you pastor for free?

Fred Phelps, you are a wicked man.
Amen, Sister Rita! You have summed up both the original premise and the solution in this brief response. Everyone here should take heed to this. Nothing wrong with amassing wealth but, both getting it off the backs of God's people and/or hoarding it are wrong. And any church of substance that sends folks to the government for assistance should simply shut down.

Blessed Regards,
Pastor Day
Man get a JOB!!!..you can't preach all you do is mislead hold the truth to ensure you get paid there are no more titles call churchs it caled business and that is what your friend T.D. jake says.....i tell everyone to only help when it come paying the bill of the place other than that keep your money in your pockets and pay your house bills take care of you family with it ....God i will not have you take from your mouth and your family mouth to give to some false money hungry greedy prophet ....Yall should be called lying profits....Yall are lazy get a job and if you have a job don't be greedy....stop robbing God sheeps.
AMEN!!!!
The bible says a workmen is worthy of his hire rightfully divding the word of TRUTH. Meaning this. that Pastor lays before God for you, he prays daily for you that Pastor Counsels you. He teaches you. He takes the time to bear witiness to your spirit man so why isn't he entitle to be paid. Why did Jesus have a Treasurary? How did they get money to put into the treasurary? Yes their are some Pastor's preaching for the money and caring for the souls but the will be cast down like whitered grass.Only what you do for Christ shall last.
GOD'S WORD® Translation (©1995)
Stay with the family that accepts you. Eat and drink whatever they offer you. After all, the worker deserves his pay. Do not move around from one house to another. Luke 10:7

Context - "Stay with the family that accepts you"
the family (lay) is to supply Food

you tell me is there anything wrong with the way Yeshua son of MarIAM
was doing it below?

8Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,b drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give. 9Do not take along any gold or silver or copper in your belts;

10take no bag for the journey, or extra tunic, or sandals or a staff; for the worker is worth his keep.

11“Whatever town or village you enter, search for some worthy person there and stay at his house until you leave. 12As you enter the home, give it your greeting.

The corruption come in with the money separating the "Preacher" from the Lay.
A preacher or pastor should freely preach the Word! He is not to be brought under the power of money! I assure you many preachers will have to answer to God. The holy Ghost and being in the will of God should be their main purpose. I am totally against salary preachers! Because if you have someone that pays you to preach your under their POWER. WHETHER THEY KNOW IT OR NOT. A preacher cannot have total liberty to preach what God gives them. God is faithful to His Word and will provide ALL his necessary NEEDS. Tithing is biblical. God Will take care of His People!
FOOD FOR THOUGHT! God Bless!
AMEN.... MY SISTER
So you telling me that you do all these things expecting to recieve money....Where is the senserity? The only reason you lay befor the lord and counsel your church members is because of the money. You are not doing it for god your doing it for the money!!!!! and according to the word of god don't even think about a reward in heaven because you have already recieved you reward on earth!
Think about what Paul said in 1 Corinthians 9:11-12:

New Living Translation (©2007)
11Since we have planted spiritual seed among you, aren't we entitled to a harvest of physical food and drink?

New Living Translation (©2007)
12If you support others who preach to you, shouldn't we have an even greater right to be supported? But we have never used this right. We would rather put up with anything than be an obstacle to the Good News about Christ.

Now, you might argue that it's optional not to receive material goods, but look at what Paul said in the end, ".....than BE AN OBSTACLE to the gospel."
You might think that issue is a little comical, but I don't, personally, because I've seen too many GREEDY pastors, prophets, speakers and the like. You're definitely right. It's greed.

1 Tim. 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. 8But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. 9People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. 10For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 11But you, man of God, FLEE FROM ALL THIS, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness. 12Fight the good fight of the faith.

Then Paul had something to say to the rich (like so many people want to be)

17Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. 18Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. 19In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life.

I don't see modern-day pastors living this way.
true unless the Pastor himself is the founder and General Overseer such as myself. The Hiring and Firing of a Pastor has to abide by that churchs bylaws and its governing constitution. You can not just fire a Pastor just because your feelings was hurt oh no it doesn't work that way. The majority of the governing boards votes is what matters. You hyave to go to the Board of Director's wheter your hiring or firing a Pastor.
