Salvation is it eternal regardless of the circumstances or not come on lets get everyone’s opinion

But what is your take on what would have happened if the prodigal son or anyone who had received salvation backslides by rejecting the Father, His Son, the Holy Ghost and totally turned away from the faith and DIED without having repented or had the opportunity to return to the fold. Would that person be heading for hell or heaven? This is a conversation that came up with a couple of my work colleague when we were in an after discussion on Luke 15:11-32 so I would be interested in having a discussion and receiving everyone's point of view.

What is the New Birth? What does it mean to be saved, the word used for salvation can be used in many facets or various nuances depending on the context. The new birth is an impossibility with man it is only a work of God hence the very reason for God coming in the likeness of a man to reconcile the world unto himself 2 Corinthians 5:18,19, securing our salvation by his death on the cross Philippians 2:6-8. So how is your salvation secure, by you or Christ? Paul says because of God's richness in mercy and the great love he had for us, he has made us (passive, that is what he does for and to us) alive together how? in Christ, so then by grace you have been saved Ephesians 2:5 (this phrase is one word in Greek, it's a perfect passive participle) in which this phrase is called a divine passive were God is the obvious agent of salvation alone. That is why Paul says in verses 8 and 9 "For by grace you have been save through faith. And this is not a results of works, so that no one may boast." (ESV). See neither you nor I can say we did it, for God will not stand for anyone taking that glory, for no flesh will glory in his sight. Please when passages are used to prove loss of salvation look to the context to determine the audience, and ask questions like in grammar school the who, what, when, why, where of the text then apply the how (application to your walk).
Once you are born again...you can't reject the father...God makes no mistakes...

Preacher I am interesting to know where Judas destination is Heaven or Hell. I believe God gave us a free choice so are you then saying when we get salvation God takes away our freedom of choice .

I am also interesting in this statement Jesus made :He said, "Those whom You gave Me I have kept; and none of them is lost except the son of perdition to me he implied he lost one that he had. Although i could be wrong so maybe you could expand.
Prophetess the Scriptures are given to us as an example, what on earth do you mean you dont know if Jesus and His disciples still applied to today or not.

Try JOHN 21:19-23.

Jesus answers His disciples...

The son of perdition refers to the one that was destined to be lost. He was destined to do exactly what he did just as we are all destined to do what we will do, however none of us know what we will do. God knows and that's why he allows us to repent of things we do.

Melvin King, John 21:19-23 did not answer my question

Judas was never a Saint.  The Lord referred to him as a devil.  Judas is an illustration of how close we can get to the things of God and how involved we can be in the ministry and how long we can do it and still be LOST.
Preacher...thats is false where is the proof?

I agree that God makes no mistakes, but in the context of trying to link it to predestination I have to disagree.

We do have Free Will, and so our eternal residence is based solely on our decision. God doesn't force us to remain in the fold, Romans 1:28 says that they didn't RETAIN the knowledge of God...They became REPROBATE, it said GOPD TURNED THEM OVER to a reprobate mind.

This is one of those mind troubling situation we face in the Christian circle.People think that they can see Scripture and lift it to make baseless argument.Because over 85% of today's Christians doesn't understand principle of doctrine, it makes me sick sometimes.Ok, may be to your knowledge, Scripture has categorizations. There are verses that imply certain meaning, and therefore must be carefully analyzed. But how can this be possible when everyone claim to interpret it.

My brother, you quoted Rom.1:28, which has nothing to do with the topic of eternal salvation.

Yes, we have free will to choose our eternal destination. But once we made that one shot decision, our position in Christ now depend on the character or nature of God. He is the one holding us, and not we holding him. For his gift and calling are irrevocable. And nothing can separate us from this relationship        ( including ourselves, cannot get out of our sonship, it is a sealed matter, it is too late to get out).

He has promised us blessings if we obey his mandate. He has not promised us eternal damnation if we failed to follow his plan concerning our grace given eternal destiny or predestination. For those He knew He also predestined. God knew those who will accept his offer of salvation, and He destined them to be with Christ. And He also knew those who will not accept the offer, he allowed them to the consequences of their choice. He God created them too, and showered them with His Love, but they rejected him to be their Father. That is why He gave them up to their reprobate mind. The knowledge of God means, through general revelation, through nature, they have all known that there is God, yet they never believed, but rejected Him.

Amechi the branch must remain firmly attached to the tree in order for the tree to sustain it, when the branch break loose it shivelled and died.
