Over the years, I have heard many men and women in the holiness denominations say that women shouldn't wear pants in the church.

Were is the scripture to support the ideology that women shouldn't wear pants? If it is in scripture then I would have to ask why are men wearing pants? Did men wear pants in biblical times or did their wear something that covered their loins and then long robe like attire? I mean isn't that what you depict in your biblical plays? So why aren't the men being asked to wear similar apparel in the church to maintain a outward appearance of holiness? Why aren't they asked to not cut their hair (both facial and head)

What are the clothing designations for men in the holiness denominations.

After all, without holiness NO man/woman shall see God.....

How many believe to be religious or a christian worker made any type of contribution to the widows or orphans?
James 1:19-27
If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion in vain. Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To VISIT the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Luke 7:37-50
Behold, a WOMAN in the city, which was a SINNER when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of oinment. And stood at his feet behind him WEEPING, and began to WASH his feet with TEARS, and did WIPE them with the HAIRS of her HEAD, and KISSED his feet, and anointed them with the oinment.
Now when the Pharisee which had BIDDEN him SAW it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have KNOWN who and what manner of WOMAN this is that TOUCHETH him: for she is a SINNER.
1 Thessalonians 5:21-23
PROVE all things; hold fast that which is GOOD. Abstain from all APPEARANCE of evil. And the very God of PEACE sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your WHOLE spirit and soul and body be preserved BLAMELESS unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

A house divided cannot stand, if the house you visit requires that you adhere to a certain standard. We READ agree with your adversary quickly, when our inability is spoken to oftentimes we are unable to conform. When our parents gave us rules most complied. It is to much work to be done while it is a day to be stuck upon a persons dress attire. Church Rules, Restuarant Rules Airplane Rules and Store Rules they all consist of wearing shoes and No Smoking allowed or in this area. Will you not obey? Let us utilize our ability to function according to TIME and PURPOSE.
Hosea 4:6
My people PERSISH for the lack of knowledge: because thou has REJECTED knowledge.
Inadequate- not equal to what is required.
Inability- lack of ability, capacity, means, or power.
Require- to call for as necessary or appropriate.
Ecclesiastes 5:1-6
Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.
Thank you for allowing this opportunity to communicate.
I believe it depends on your relationship with God. Whenever I walk in church with pants on i don't feel comfortable. I read one of the post where someone was saying that you will help defile the church by wearing a skirt and the men looking at you. Well cant you do the same thing while wearing a pair of pants to church. Jeans show curves and all. Like i said in the beginning it all depends on your personal relationship with God. If you can do it and not feel condemned, then by all means wear your jeans.
It depends on the size of your body and the curves that you have...lol!!! I am a thin person and when the Lord called me to preach the Gospel, HE gave me "my" instructions per my attire!!! Grant it, it is just like all things concerning our Father; A PERSONAL relationship!! God Bless you and keep you is and always will be my PRAYER!!!
Lots of love and respect!
I must agree with your last statement that "Without Holiness NO man/woman shall see GOD! I was brought up that it was simply a matter of reverence for the house of GOD to be properly dressed wether male or female. I know this is the era of come as you are, but I would personally still prefer that people dress in attire that shows pride and respect for the house of worship. I was recently text by one younger pastor who just started his church that the upcoming Sunday was blue jean and T-Shirt Sunday. Biblically your adornment was to be modest and spelled out in scripture as- (1 Timothy 2:9
I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,). With that said I find throughout scripture that those of ministry were required to dress well for service:

1.) Exodus 29:5-Take the garments and dress Aaron with the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod itself and the breastpiece. Fasten the ephod on him by its skillfully woven waistband. (Aaron the Levite (אַהֲרֹן הַלֵּוִי), was the brother of Moses, (Exodus 6:16-20)[2] and represented the priestly functions of his tribe, becoming the first High Priest of the Israelites.)
1.a)Exodus 40:13Then dress Aaron in the sacred garments, anoint him and consecrate him so he may serve me as priest. In verse 14 you will also see that this applied to his sons as well.

2.)2 Chronicles 5:12- All the Levites who were musicians—Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun and their sons and relatives—stood on the east side of the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps and lyres. They were accompanied by 120 priests sounding trumpets.

3.)2 Chronicles 18:9-Dressed in their royal robes, the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat king of Judah were sitting on their thrones at the threshing floor by the entrance to the gate of Samaria, with all the prophets prophesying before them.

This could go on and on and get really lengthy so I will boil it down to this. I think we have lost the concept of allow them to come as they are but once they are there help them to be respectful, loving and faithful which will show up in the way they talk, walk and dress. I read somewhere that there is a renewing of the mind that takes place that helps as well!

Let The Lord God Dress you in his clothes and not the world
The Iranian Scythians along with the Achaemenid Persians were the early inventors of trousers. Men's clothes in Hungary in the 15th century consisted of a shirt and trousers as underwear, and a dolman worn over them, as well as a short fur-lined or sheepskin coat. Hungarians generally wore simple trousers, only their colour being unusual; the dolman covered the greater part of the trousers.

Trousers appeared in Western European culture at several points in history, but gained their current predominance only in the 16th century, from a Commedia dell'Arte character named Pantalone. In England in the twelfth century, the rustic often wore long garments to the ankle, rather like trousers, which were really glorified braies. Trouser-like garments, which became rare again in the thirteenth century, vanished during the fourteenth century and scarcely reappeared for six hundred years. The word itself is of Gaelic origin, from the Irish language or Scottish Gaelic, from the Middle Irish word "triubhas" (close-fitting shorts). It is, however, important to note that trews (a form of, originally, tight-fitting leggings, a traditional or derived Scottish garment) were, in fact, not trousers.

There is record of 4th Century Persian women wearing pants but that trend did not really catch on or travel to the Western World at that time. The first big rumblings of women wearing pants occurred at the end of the Victorian period. Ladies were getting a bit tired of heavy full skirts, whalebone corsets, cumbersome padding, bustles, and those multi-layered petticoats. Realistically and figuratively the garments were trapping women, keeping them down. Bloomers were soon introduced. The outfit consisted of a knee length full skirt worn with full cut trousers underneath. Bloomers did not really become popular.
Well......it's kinda interesting when you look at history as it relates to the Bible (one of my areas). MEN weren't even wearing pants when that scripture was written. Selah.... lol. Arguing about this is just as silly as the argument Peter was having with God in Acts 10:13-15....
I agree with you on this one!!! Talking about men wearing dresses and skirts back in the days...lol God Bless you and thanks for your candid but honest opinion!!! Makes MUCH sense to me!!!
Lol exactly. And the "guilt" may or may not be the "conviction" of the Holy Spirit. I don't know, who am I to judge---nobody! But I WILL say that most of the women who feel this "guilt" or "conviction" feel it as a result of their ENVIRONMENT. If they were in an environment or a network where it was acceptable, they'd think differently. It's a little thing sociologists call "group think". We tend to think like the other church folk we are associated with and we make our rules and beat others up on the outside who don't follow "our" rules. Then we become apart of a religious SYSTEM and not the KINGDOM.

And to add to that, some women need to feel guilty and convicted about some of the DRESSES I see in church these days. I would have preferred you be in pants lol. Ok I'm done....lol
I LOVE IT!!!! Take care and pray that you had a HIGH time in the lord today!!! I know I did and danced in my pants...lol!! Keep in touch...I like your way of thinking! The fact of the matter, I was saved when I was in the COGIC faith and was told so many things which have not a thing to do with salvation or Kingdom work...saving of souls or building the heart of the people where they can receive Christ in their life!!! But thanks be to God for that WISDOM that cometh from above!!! It's not about a denomination because there is but one Faith and one God and as long as HE stamps HIS approval on my attire...may I say no more!! Now I am done!!! Love...Sister in Christ!
i am waiting for you to tell us where bible said women should wear pants. when backsliding begin to set-in brethren begin to look for loose ends. where did bible say i should not drink alcohol? where did bible say i should not smoke? where did bible say i should not have sex before marriage? was God not the one that allowed David to marry Uriah's wife? so what is wrong with polygamy? loose ends...loose ends....loose ends!
