Salvation is it eternal regardless of the circumstances or not come on lets get everyone’s opinion

But what is your take on what would have happened if the prodigal son or anyone who had received salvation backslides by rejecting the Father, His Son, the Holy Ghost and totally turned away from the faith and DIED without having repented or had the opportunity to return to the fold. Would that person be heading for hell or heaven? This is a conversation that came up with a couple of my work colleague when we were in an after discussion on Luke 15:11-32 so I would be interested in having a discussion and receiving everyone's point of view.

You know james in the temple days the people could not really be blamed for their sins because the truth be know they were in fact slaves to sin . Sin was their master they were bound and chain so the fact is they continually sinned.

But we are no longer under law but under grace and people appear to be using the same arguement that we cannot help it if we sin, this is not true we can help it because Jesus came and laid down His life in order to shift the our position where sin no longer has control over us, sin is no longer the master, we are in fact now the master the balance have been shifted to give us the control that is what make grace so much more different to the law, sin can no longer control us, we have to give control over to sin, sin cannot take control we are in charge therefore if we are walking in sin then we have made a choice to leave the path that Jesus laid. And if we have left that path how then can we get to heaven when there is only one way.

There is no such thing as temporary eternal life...eiether you're saved or you're not...either you're the elect for salvation or you're not....
Jesus is the author and FINISHER OF OUR FAITH...

Once a person is BORN gain they receive eternal Life...and that is a new soul...a living soul,as before salvation the spirit was dead...when we become born again...meaning born of the spirit opposed to born of the flesh...we rae washed and made holy and righteous before God...as Jesus is...

We can do nothing to attain this righteousness, and we can do nothing to lose it...what people fail to understand especially thoes in the churches, is Its not man's Job to keep himself saved...its Christ job...for a person to lose their salvation would mean Christ failed...

Many scriptures make it abundantly clear that salvation is eternal (John 10:27-29; Romans 8:35, 38-39; Philippians 1:6; 1 Peter 1:4-5), and Hebrews 6:4-6 confirms that doctrine.

But Rev Anthony you have missed the point we are discussing born again who have rejected the way of Jesus and chosen not to repent and not to return and have chosen to die in their sinful state so no these believers choose not to repent. We already know from the story with the prodigal son that a backslider can repent and be forgiven that is not the discussion here
Preacher in order to convince me you are right can you explain the following scriptures Ezekiel 18:24, Matthew 25:31, 1 corthinth 9:27 to end the prophecy of Daniel and the Book of revelation and also the saying of Jesus 'Father all that you have given me I have lost none except one'.
i think you need to re read Hebrews 6:4 it clearly does not!
Understand, But your telling me if a man live for God and then decide to do what he want he still will go to heaven.  I tell you the truth if it is then how many of us would really live holy and righteousness of God.  If a person loose their salvation does not mean God or Christ failed but that the person deemed there self will more important to them than God's will.  I will study more.  dont want to argue or get confused but allow God to lead.
I agree, the problem is that people confuse two theological issues, one is redemption and the other is sanctification. Redemption is what God has done thru Christ which can only be accomplished in Jesus, now sanctification has two aspects imputed and practical. Imputed sanctification and righteousness is give to us on account, actually a part of sanctification takes place at the new birth scripture says we have been (passive done to us) translated from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light this happens at salvation, then righteousness is credited to us because of Jesus atoning death on Calvary. But, we are called to exhibit in our daily life a life set apart to him that's called practical sanctification a life lived to and for God thru Jesus in-powered by the indwelling Spirit as we yield to his guidance. Recognize and don't confuse the issues which is often done.

The problem is preacher not many are truly born again you do have your Judases who tag along acting as if they are born again but having one foot in and the other out.

I believe the question is asking for a more universal concept of Sin.

Man has Free Will.

He chooses to believe or Not, as well as to MAINTAIN that belief and obedience.

When Christ died on the cross, He destroyed sin as a whole, meaning that we now have a remedy for the Sin Nature. That's why the statement is that Christ died for future sins is conceptual in nature. As we are accountable for our repentance.

Amen you are absolutely right and for those who dont agree it is right any how.  The bible tells out to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling and it also tells us to study to show ourselves approved unto God. It is very important to study and read the word of God and it is God that gives the revelation.  Not for us to read and come to our own understanding but here what the spirit of the Lord has to say.  Because the bible also says alike if a man was to live a life of sin then on his death bed received God as his lord and savior he could go to heaven.  So if a man lives all his life holy and for the Lord then three days before he dies live as he wants, drinking smoking and fornicating he would walk his self straight into hell.  Of his own will.  Now if he repent 2 seconds before he died I believed He would still then go to heaven.  Great topic and it makes me to pray and be holy and do all i can. Because I dont want to take a chance at playing games with living holy today and purposely making a choice to disobey God to fulfill the lust of my flesh.  The bible says make no provision for your flesh.

Thanks for your response it should be noted that the question was specific that the person died without repenting that also mean he did not repent on his death bed. There is no question that if one repent of ones sin even at the last minute one is save, the story of the theif on the cross illusrtate this fact.

If peradventure ( dont take it is as your own will and choice ) God grant repentance.!

So any and every action is weighed and presumption is as big as any sin,ask Uzzah.
