Over the years, I have heard many men and women in the holiness denominations say that women shouldn't wear pants in the church.

Were is the scripture to support the ideology that women shouldn't wear pants? If it is in scripture then I would have to ask why are men wearing pants? Did men wear pants in biblical times or did their wear something that covered their loins and then long robe like attire? I mean isn't that what you depict in your biblical plays? So why aren't the men being asked to wear similar apparel in the church to maintain a outward appearance of holiness? Why aren't they asked to not cut their hair (both facial and head)

What are the clothing designations for men in the holiness denominations.

After all, without holiness NO man/woman shall see God.....

You are correct Evangelist Alim, man will NEVER, NEVER, EVER, NEVER, EVER agree on Rules and Regulations.  No man can judge a personal relationship with God.  Teach Relationship, teach love and let God judge.
I am responding to this again, because it was mentioned that there are new Christians and the inference that this disscusion might dissaude them.  However, the biblical scriptures have been able to withstand criticism for over 2000 years.  The text is clear in Deut.  However, each church has bylaws and constraints that must be adhered to, and that is not a concern for me, nor should it be for anyone that wants to be faithful.  Church is not the place to want provocative clothing.  Again, men clothing is what is deemed approprite for men by society, and them there is what is deemed appropriate by the church.  Depictions is Christian plays demonstrate historial correctness in attire, but mean are not wearing togas in America today for the most part.  Attire, is not just about holiness, becasue if you cant;ee be faithful in the ltittle things, then maybe you can;t be faith in the largesr things.  Conservative Jews, who the OT was directed at, do not shave in the places that they were instructed not to do so.  The bible must be read in context and historical value.

Many are unable to view the bible in a contextual or historical sense because they have been taught that they must abide by every word of God

Maybe they should read the Bible and learn it for themselves.  To read anything is to read it in context.  To abide by the Bible is to accept it historically and in its context.  The Old Testament was written to the nation of Israel that were in  a personal relationship with God.  They were under the law, and it was written in Deut 4:1-2, Hear now, O Israel, the decrees and laws I am about to teach you. Follow them so that you may live and may go in and take possession of the land that the Lord, the God of your fathers, is giving you. 2Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the Lord your God that I give you.  They were under the law.  Furthermore, under grace, it is written, Revelation 22:18 "I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. Revelation 22:19 And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book."

Many churches today spend too much time defending man made rules and regulations.  If our churches would spend more time teaching "PERSONAL" Relationship with God, the need to focus on irrelevant rules and regulations will die.

The infinite wisdom of God is not predicated on rules and regulations, it is predicated on His love for us and our love for Him.

Amen!
We live in a new age were people dress for confort. The Apostle Paul wrote extensively on the difference between the law and grace in Romans. We are not justified by our adherence to the law, but we are justified by faith in Christ (Romans 3:21-28). What has that to do with a believing woman wearing pants? There is no biblical law that says what a woman should wear or not wear. Rather, the issue is one of modesty. Paul addresses the modesty of women in his first letter to Timothy. "I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God" (1 Timothy 2:9-10). However, this is 2011 and not 35AD. I truly think that it is up the individual and how appropriate the slacks are. The issue that a woman should wear modest clothing for confort, whether or not that includes a pair of slacks should be a matter for the woman's own conscience before the LORD. If a woman allows her outward appearance to be the measure of her inward relationship with Christ, she is living under the constraints of legalism. Born-again women are free in Christ to wear whatever modest apparel they choose, and the only judgment they should be under is that of their own conscience. "Everything that does not come from faith is sin" (Romans 14:23).

wow! Happy New Year! Can't BELIEVE people still on this in 2011!! What difference does it make to JESUS??? TOO carnal. Jesus words are SPIRIT not Carnal. Hebrews suggest; LET US GO ON TO PERFECTION, NOT LAYING AGAIN THE FOUNDATION...... 6:1-2! MOVE ON ALREADY, IT'S TRIVIAL! THOSE WHO GET IT, GOOD, THOSE WHO DON'T OH WELL!!  ~peace - arr
Why is this even a point of discussion? There are sick and dying souls that need the good news of Jesus. Y'all, we need to get our priorities straight. BTW, I'm a Pastor/Teacher/Bishop with long hair and ladies in pants are welcome in our congregation.
You better watch out Bishop, your long hair could be an issue, too.  There are dying souls that needs to be saved from the enemy and I don't think clothes will get you into heaven unless they are worn in their porper place .  If your name isn't written into the Lamb's book of life, well you know the rest.  God bless you Bishop and have a beautiful day.
