I would like your well thought out opinion on the subject of contradicitons in the bible.  If you do not think there are then you can feel free to participate in the many other forums where you have something to offer.  If you think that there are contradicitons I would love to discuss them with you.

so you believe there are contradictions or you do not believe there are contractions?   I have researched the topic an  am looking for input.

Yes, there are missing books.Look,at the Catholic Bible,Torah,Dead Sea Scrolls.

Contradictions

1.Who is the Prophet, like Moses?

2.The Bible says, if it's Elijah's will. That he will return. Before the day ,of the lord!

3.Why can't we walk ,on Water? How about, moving the Mountains?

4.I'd like someone, to explain the, Wheel Of Ezekial!

   To name a few...

Of course there are.... For example in one book when David numbers his soldiers, in the another book the number is off by some 50K. In the description of how the world works in terms of astrophysics, the authors use the measurements and theories of the day that we know now are not true.

Here's the thing, If I were to base my faith on the Bible it would be a losing proposition, because there are contradictions there, my faith however is based on Jesus Christ. So because I believe in Him, I can believe his book, not the other way around. My faith is based in my relationship with Him, not one with a book, because you cannot have a relationship with a book.

Because of that I do not look at faith as being something that is measured by how much I can convince myself into believing something like the cowardly lion in the wizard of Oz, Instead my view of faith is one of trusting in the the trustworthiness of the one making the promise. It has nothing to do with how I convince myself into believing that something is true. Its about believing in the person to whom I am in a relationship with.

Sister Evangelical! From My Research & My Understanding It Has Been Shown To Me That Failing To Understand & Accept THE FOOLISHNESS OF GOD May Just Be The Biggest Mistake We As Believers In God Have Done! Yes There Are Contradictory Scriptures & Yes There Is A Reason That Man Changes The OriGinal Doctrines And Makes Money Off Of Them & Maintains Control Over Others By Releasing It In Partiality! For Example How Can There Be Judgment After Jesus Promises Forgiveness For All? I Say For Example, Because THERE ARE SO MANY MORE!

thank you my brotherliiui

My Sister, there are contradictions to those who dare to believe.  As a believer, you believe by faith and that God will lead you to all truth.  We know that the bible was written by those before us who saw according to their eyes, visions etc.  No we were not there, we also was not there when God IS?????  First off you cannot believe in a God if you don't have the faith, because faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.  You must believe in the Bible in which you read in order to believe that there is a God who is powerful enough that he can control the order in which the book was written, because the words are inspired by God and he used men to bring forth that word.  We must believe in its entirety, even though some disagree with some of the sayings, but believe and have the faith that God will reveal himself through His word.  Contradictions are from those who want to change it to their own understanding and not take it literally, because it don't make sense to them, but just because it don't make sense to them lead us to know that they don't except the truth, no matter how it comes or who it may come from.  Believers must take the bible as absolute and study it to show themselves worthy of it being revealed to them and as a believer do that and line their life up with the word, then they will know the truth and the truth will make them free from any contradictions.

There are some that believe only in the first five books, there are some that only believe in the new testament and some that believe only in the old testament, that bears witness to their extractions and their only to wan to believe what they want to believe.  Believers believe that God sent His only son to redeem the sinner man and reconcile man back to the order for which God created man, in His image.  In the old people had to go to a priest to go before God and make sacrafices, because man could not go before God, because of mans sinful nature.  If that is so, then how can a sinful man come before God now????  If we are all sinners and unholy, how can we communicate to God in prayer?

So, no there is no contradictions in the bible, it is contradiction from those who refuse to believe.

If a man tells you the truth do you dare to believe?  Especially if you believe in the bible and that man is reading from that bible.  Yes, there are many bibles, but they end with the same results....There is a God and He sent His son to die to reconcile man back to him and this is why we can pray to God and petition for our own souls.

This is my belief and my faith...that God is more powerful than any man and that NO man can change or contradict that power...and all power belongs to God and He gave that same power to His son and His son gave that same power to those who believe.

John 14

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. 4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know. 5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? 6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. 9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? 10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. 11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake. 12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.  15 If ye love me, keep my commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

18 I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. 19 Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. 20 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. 21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. 22 Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world? 23 Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him. 14 He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.

25 These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you. 26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. 27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. 28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I. 29 And now I have told you before it come to pass, that, when it is come to pass, ye might believe. 30 Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me. 31 But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

I do apologize for the length of the answer, but it behoved me to say this.

In Love, Sister Denise

I must admit I do not real very lengthy responses due to time constraints.  But the question was a simple one.  Are there contradictions in hte bible.  SImce you say no (i assume) may I pose a question to you.  Do you believe that no man has seen God?

When you say that there are no ocntradictions then you put yourself in the position of "knowing" what the writers of the bible were thinking when they wrote or told what had taken place.  I am surprised that many christians do not know that Matthew Mark Luke and John were written scores of years after these disciples died.  How much faith can you put in a story told and retold and told over the decades.  Please do not tell me that God spoke to them and said write because they did not write.

I believe that there may have been some human error involved in the translation of the Bible. This is why we rely on the Holy Spirit to guide us into all truth. If we seek the truth we shall find it. Everyone wants answers, but we don't always want the truth. This is where the rubber meets the road, but I believe that truth will prevail in spite of our misgivings. In answer to your question, "Do you believe that no man has seen God?' My answer would be, not and lived to tell about it. It seems that everyone who has seen God was taken. Only Jacob claimed to have wrestled with God, but it is clearly understood by mere common sense that he was wrestling with a messenger of God who revealed not his name. Really, can a man wrestle physically with God and prevail?  Moses knew it was God,s shadow which he glimpsed, and God did not hide His identity from him. Neither did God hide himself from Enoch, but took him also. Elijah was taken and so was Stephen. I submit that no man has ever seen God at any time and yet lived among men.

Pastor King

Ah But Pastor, there was a purpose in God's wrestling with Jacob, In so wrestling with God, Jacob;s name was changed to Israel, and ever since the people of God have been wrestling with Him ever since. Is it not up to God to choose who lives and dies, and as such could He not say that Jacob could wrestle with Him and not die. Your statement kinda negates the sovereignty of God. After all He is sovereign even though He does not micromanage the universe.
