I was in a discussion with someone and the subject of should a church tithe to another church or the spiritual parents of the pastors.
Is this something we were taught or is their a scripture base behind it?
Malachi 3:10 says we are to bring it in God's house to take care of the needs of church and the people in need as the early church in acts.
I would love the views and the opinions of other Pastors.

Once agin we have strayed away from bibical teachings. Jesus went into the highway and hedges and we can't even walk out the front doors of our church. We make it a point to feed in our community at least twice a month
I AM STRONG ADVOCATE OF YOUR POSITION OF THE STOREHOUSE (THE CHURCH) GIVING BACK IN TITHES AND OFFERINGS TO THE PEOPLE AND BUILD THE PEOPLE THAT BUILT THE BUILDING!
Anderson what bible have you been reading you are way off
I feel that you should tithe in your on vineyard. Because if you don't bless what God has giving you how will other bless your ministry. You must be the first partake of the blessing of the harvest. I also feel that if some seed are left plant them in Good ground that they may bring forth good harvest as well. There are so many small churches that are struggle money wise and need help from those that are able to share and that where the blessing come from. It's more bless to give then to receive. Pray and Let God speak concerning the matter of tithes and offering.

God Bless
I agree with most of the posts on here. There is no new testament scriptural basis for tithing altogether and certainly not for tithing to another church. Believers are free to give however they choose not grudgingly or under compulsion. From what I understand, many pastors of independent churches are somewhat forced into obligatory giving so that they would be in compliance with a more established pastor or ministry (have a covering).

From what I understand, many ministries who use this concept use it as a means of controlling smaller or younger ministries. They also suggest that those ministries that tithe to them receive a portion of their anointing or something. I don't fully understand that concept and cannot find any accurate biblical support for it. I am part of a connectional church where all churches in the denomination financially support the entire denomination and all bishops, general officers, and ministries (in other words, we pay their salaries collectively). Pastors are encouraged to support the ministry they are appointed to.

Its my opinion that local pastors should support their own church and ministry. If they choose to support other ministries, then that is fine, but they should not obligate their church to do so. This would allow their church to be able to do the work of the ministry such as helping the homeless, feeding the hungry, clothing the naked and anything else. Again, scripture says that no one should give under compulsion or necessity because God loves a cheerful giver.
There is no biblical or scripture reference for a church to tithe to another church. It is the responsibility of the members of the local church to tithe and provide provisions for their church. If the LORD has established that church it is not for the pastors or people to beg another church for support. The church is not a welfare institution it is a salvation institution. If churches got back into soletology we would then get back to the real mission of the church and that is to save those who are lost and teach the save to serve. The church is not designed to make millionaires and become big business, so if these little churches stop sprouting up and begging other churches to "sow into their ministry" this would not be an issue. Rev. King has hit the nail on the head, too many churches are feeding on the sheep. We should feel sick to our stomachs when we see pastors driving Bentleys and wearing $1500.00 suits while their members struggle to feed their families.
Michael you will not get many responses because most of the people who subscribe to this post have lost their way. They are in ministry to see what they can get and not because it is a sacred call of the LORD.
I thought this would be a great place for help and encouragement, but most see it as another way to "name and claim" and snatch and grab. If we as preachers are not in this calling for saving souls, we are in it for the wrong reasons. There are no millionaires in heaven or hell, just souls who have accepted or rejected the gospel.
Good evening,

Rev. Jeff I want to ask you this question. Do you feel sick when the unsaved is driving Bentleys and wearing $1500.00 suits? Why when Pastors, Bishops, Apostles or any other clergy is driving expensive cars that would make you sick? Can you please tell me why?
I am really serious about this question and I am not trying to get into any type of debate with you. But I really want to know why you feel this way.

Thank you and you have a bless holiday.

I thought my comment on feeling sick was a know figure of speech but to answer your question I do not feel sick, I feel disgusted when they do it at the expense of their congregation. I have no problem with people living well regardless of their occupation, but as I have a problem with drug dealers, loan sharks and hustlers taking advantage of people, I feel the same regardless of who it is. People need salvation and if it is preached they have a better chance to recieive it. Money is needed to support ministry not ministers.
Thank you Rev Jeff for your reply, now I understand what you meant. You have a good day.

Amen Brother,
I too have realized that a lot of these issues that people seem to want to debate, are from those who have either lost their way or in it for the wrong reasons. I agree about "clergy" riding around on hight off of the expense of others, while their own sheep is suffering and living in lack. Understanding that struggle and trials comes to each of our front and back doors. But I do believe that what flows on the head, flows to the body, and if my head is being blessed, there is something bad wrong when I'm not living in the overflow like them, Some of that should be rolling off.
Pastor Nichols,

Wow! I never heard of such a thing.

thanks
Wonderful! That is an issue if they could not keep their bills paid but was paying for pastor's car...I do believe in honoring the man and woman of God of the house. Sometime it may take a sacrifice, but some blessings should be coming if we do sacrifice for honor and respect. I'm reminded of the widow in the book of Kings that fed the prophet Elijah her last bit of meal. She had only enough for her and her son and she thought she was going to die, but she gave, sacrificed, for the man of God, and because of that...she was blessed with an overflow. Now I do believe in that level of giving. Some people will not agree, but when you tap into the understanding of God's principles and how if you give a prophet a drink of water, then you shall reap a prophet's reward. There is some great blessings, when taking care of your leaders and holding their arms up. What you make happen for others, God will make happen to you. That's how I know to stay blessed.
