Salvation is it eternal regardless of the circumstances or not come on lets get everyone’s opinion

But what is your take on what would have happened if the prodigal son or anyone who had received salvation backslides by rejecting the Father, His Son, the Holy Ghost and totally turned away from the faith and DIED without having repented or had the opportunity to return to the fold. Would that person be heading for hell or heaven? This is a conversation that came up with a couple of my work colleague when we were in an after discussion on Luke 15:11-32 so I would be interested in having a discussion and receiving everyone's point of view.

Its foolish for a person to assume that no matter what they do, they will be allowed into the Kingdom of Heaven. They misread the scriptures like Matthew chapter 25. When CHRIST gave the parable about the sheep and the goats, that wasn't about believers verses non-believers, that was about those who knew Him and were faithful (sheep), and those who knew Him and were not faithful (goats). Both are apart of His flock, but one is counted as being as stubborn as a goat, and is therefore cast out for their disobedience to His direct orders to them.

Tell me, if a Christian is not living to his brother, nor shows any sings of possessing the fruit of the Spirit, is he truly a Christian still? Will he stay within GOD's grace? Will GOD bless the disobedient with eternal life just because he said "I believe in JESUS" but didn't obey a word HE said?

Salvation is given freely by HIM, but maintenance is dependent upon you.

1st John 1:9 "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
Salvation is given freely by HIM, but maintenance is dependent upon you.

That statement you posted is erroneous"...

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith...”
Hebrews 12:2

Salvation is something that only God can do...and no one can change what God has purposed...If God has chosen someone to be born again, they will be born again...and the bible teaches us that we are SEALED with the holy spirit until Christ returns...he will lose none..

The word "author" denotes one who writes, constructs, or originates something. The gospel message is about Christ. Without Him, there would be no gospel. The seeds of our faith come from hearing about Christ in the Bible (Lk. 8:11). So, our faith originates in Him (Rom. 10:17; Phil. 3:9; 1 Jn. 5:4). For faith in Christ to be true and acceptable to God, it must include obedience (2 Thess. 1:8-9). And for it to continue true and acceptable, it must grow. These, and other things which are necessary for a total faith, are found in the New Testament. Through the miraculous inspiration of the Holy Spirit, Christ's apostles taught the essentials and boundaries of true faith (Jn. 14:26; 16:7-15; Heb. 1:1-2). We find those teachings in the pages of His New Testament. Therefore, we must study and follow the New Testament in order to have true faith.

The Greek word translated "author" in Heb. 12:2 is sometimes translated "leader." It indicates one who takes the lead, possibly starting something in the process. Christ is our leader. He has taken our place by dying for our sins (Rom. 5:8), and He has taken the lead in being resurrected to a new life (Rom. 6:1-11; 1 Cor. 15:20). He is also our leader through the example of His life upon the earth. Christ exhibited perfect obedience to God (Heb. 5:8-9). And we receive His instruction in Romans 6:12-16 that we must be obedient instruments of righteousness. Christ is also our leader by being our Lord (Rom. 14:9; 1 Cor. 8:6). And our faith should confirm Him as our ruler by our steadfast devotion. He is both the head of the church (Eph. 1:22; Col. 1:18) and the rock upon which our faith is built (Matt. 7:24-27; 1 Cor. 3:11). He is the chief cornerstone of the church and the chief cornerstone of individual faith (Matt. 21:42; Eph. 2:20; 1 Pet. 2:4-6).

He starts it and he completes it..he said Father all that you have given me I have lost none...
So Christ is the author of true Christian faith: He is the start and growth of faith, the sacrifice for our sins..

Christ also perfects our faith by giving us continuing help. He is our Advocate (1 Jn. 2:1), the Mediator between the Christian and God (1 Tim. 2:5). The sacrifice of Jesus Christ has worked for us and continues to work for us. He is the Savior, the High Priest, and the complete authority. He provides continual cleansing of the dedicated Christian's soul (Heb. 9:14; 1 Jn. 1:7, 9). Our faith is also improved when we recognize the strengths and encouragement that He provides (Eph. 6:10-18; Heb. 4:14-15; 10:19-25; 13:6).

Jesus also will supply the final enactment which fulfills the hope of our faith. He is the one by whom we will be raised from death, judged, and rewarded (Jn. 5:28-29; Acts 17:31; Rom. 2:16; 14:10; Rev. 2:10). Therefore, faithful Christians who have been raised from death will be another proof of His ultimate victory over evil (1 Cor. 15:50-58). That victory will be the beautiful finishing touch. It will be the complete fulfillment of our faith.
WE CANNOT LOSE SALVATION BECAUSE CHRIST IS THE AUTHOR AND FINISHER...its is not dependant upon us....

Well actually Preacher if you finish the quote Jesus actually amitted that he lost one it seem everyone also miss quote Jesus on this one 'Father all that you have given me I have lost none EXCEPT ONE THE SON OF PERDITION' Jesus actually said He lost one and yes the Father gave him 12 including Judas Iscariot who should betray him so all would be fulfilled. the key word in Jesus quote which everyone always seem to ignore is EXCEPT which is the word that come after none

Can I ask a question here?

What does a sinner have to do to be saved?

What does BELIEF entail?

John if you read the thread from the beginning you will receive the answer to your questions
@ Trevor; maybe that person is not truly SAVED. YOU only know of a surety if your'e saved or not. I know I am. I can oly answer for me! some folk don't bear fruit because they really are not born again. And then some folk are saved & have struggles & need DELIVERANCE  in some areas.  If you are truly born again you will confess your sins & be delivered & move on. So are you saying since YOU been SAVED you haven't sinned??? come on now! Let's be real!!
Yes KEY WORD ' IF" THOES WHO ARE ELECT CAN NEVER DENY HIM...
GB
Sorry Preacher Key word 'if those that were elect turn their back on him and died without repenting'
I f a person is born again...they are secure...If a born again believer commits a sin and dies before he says forgive me father...that person would still be with the lord...God knows him as his child, that died before he says forgive me...God has already forgiven him and every believer past present and future...on the day they were born again...Its not as if God didn't know the end from the beginning... :)
GB
Preacher,

Sorry buddy, but you cannot be forgiven for sins you have not committed. Thats not biblical. Only your past sins are taking away, and so are your present sins because of your repentance. Preacher, if your future sins are covered, then the next time you sin.... don't repent ;)

plz show me in the BIBLE where Saints repented. I thought repentence was for SINNERS!!

7But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

8If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

We are all sinners. No one is better than the other. Repentance is not just being sorry, but going in different direction. Saints do sin. Who among us does everything we can? Who among even does everything we are supposed to?

There is being perfect or there is sin. It is either one way or the other. We may be, being perfected, but I am pretty sure no one on earth has arrived. It is why we are to have compassion, because we too sin. None of us are worthy of anything.

The only way not to sin is by love.

The church in this very hour should be repenting. What is happening on earth is because of the church.
