When seeing and attending the confirmation services of Bishops by an organization, I am seeing women who are being ordained as Bishops.  I have read and studied the office of Bishop and have not understood nor found any of the ceremonial ordinations of women as Bishops, nor in God's Word have I found anything on women as Bishops.

1 Timothy 3 is the specific chapter speaking on the Office and Qualifications of the Bishop.  Is a Bishop also an Overseer or Superintendent or Elder or Chief Elder?

Now, the Word of God, KJV, states "...If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.  A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous; one that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity; (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?) Not as a novice [one newly come to the faith], lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil..."  1 Timothy 3:1-7

As the head of his household, he is to plan, protect, and provide for his household which includes stewardship as he "ruleth well his own house..." (Titus 1:7).  We are to follow the Shepherd and Bishop of our souls, Jesus Christ (1 Peter 2:25).

This scripture, literally, is speaking of a man.  Any thoughts?

Pitbull, I'm going to challenge you on a very adult level. Don't be offended, just be prepared to reply:

There are SEVERAL books that are actually books of pure historical fact in the Bible. These are Genesis, Exodus, Numbers, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, 1st & 2nd Samuel, Kings and Chronicles, Ezra, Nehemiah......come to think of it, a HUGE MAJORITY of the Bible can easily be categorized as "the History of the people of God" or "The Acts of the Church". History is actually one of God's teaching tools, for wise King Solomon pointed out that there is nothing new under the sun, and christ Jesus even pointed back to the history of the Books of Maccabees to show how all things will come to an end.

So what if man has a bad history. Is history so bad, that God cannot be found within it? If that is true, then why are you reading the Bible? You clearly see God's hand there, so you should be able to identify God's hand within the last 2,000 years of Church History by now. If we can't identify God's presence and handiwork within the last 20 centuries, then we need to check to see if we actually know the God we C-L-A-I-M to know. YHWH's movements are distinct. They are so distinct in fact, that you don't need to even hear a "thus saith the Lord" or hear God's name mentioned at all to know if He was directly involved or not. Take a look at the Book of Esther and see that YHWH's name was not mentioned AT ALL!

When you need the training wheels of distinctly seeing the word's "God said", then it is obviously not the wisest thing to try to tackle the job of discerning the hand of God throughout Church History. If you can't see God's hand vs man's own false works, then this subject is not for you.

"Hmmmm"??

Biblical history is filled with reproof, correction, rebuke and chastisement for those who chose to deviate from the word and plan of God.  You had better read the bible to learn the plan of God through obedience to his word.

Ecclesiastes 12:13, "Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this [is] the whole [duty] of man."  All of the other theological hypothetical analytical  suggestions are endless and without merit.

Pitbull, that really wasn't even a response to what I said.....

THIS IS SO TRUE PITBULL!!!

And that one "bishop" you talking to got saved in prison, got out and started a church.

I asked him where he worked at and haven't talked to him since lol!!!

Watson loves talking about the "uneducated" preachers I'll be glad when he talks about the ones who use the church as their personal bank to rob and steal from people using the Word of God.

How about we get that discussion going?!

MarQ,

A man ordaining himself a bishop after transition back to society from prison seems to be out of order.  How long did he pastor or lead the flock before becoming a bishop?  Today everybody wants to be a bishop.  I know a "Word" Network figure who latches and attaches himself to ministries that are in the media and on the "Word" network.  His 1000sqft church has his picture in front next to a for sale sign.  He has never really pastored a sucessful church and is on the "Word" network as a "bishop-elect"  I call this "Play Church".  People want titles, fame and fortune.  Everybody and their mother are now a bishop today.

As for poor Watson, he is a modern day Sadducee.  The Sadducees did not promote the oral law and did not consider it to be a revelation from God.  They were strict proponents of the written law who did not believe in the doctrine of angels & demons.  They did not believe in the spirit world, resurrection of the dead, immortality of the soul, divine predestination or affirmed free will.

The sad thing about this WHOLE situation is that there are foolish people who won't and don't study the Word for themselves who are then duped into believing the mess these sheisters "preach."

and then what about the true believers/preachers that rely on the Holy Ghost for guidance and teaching and leading.  I say start the conversation about the "uneducated" preachers and the "robbers/thieves" and see how the Holy Ghost will lead that conversation...

LOL!!!!! Sad but true!!!

For those who actually do want to learn the history of their beloved Church, it wont be a waste of words. Someone will catch it, and someone will value it.

Dearest Brothers Greene and Watson, I do understand your thought provoking answers and challenges to dig deeper into history to develope a more  academically prepared mind in the Word of God.  But when you have learned to TRUST God then you will look no further, if you really TRUST HIM at His Word, you will TRUST that there is no tampering of His Holy Scriptures "the Bible".  Please don't read more into my post than what I am saying.  If a man truly TRUST God then He doesn't question Gods Word if he truly believes.  The Word of God say it is impossible to please God without faith, do you believe that?  You must have faith to even believe that there is a God.  See this is why we have atheist, because they question the facts and don't believe.  Do you believe the word of God when it say His thoughts are not like ours nor His way like ours?  Well, if we believe some, what makes you disbelieve the other?  I read where you said (Bro. Watson) that you question the part about slavery, because as a black man and the history of slavery etc.  Well, if you take the "I" out of it and just let God, act as though self is not and let Gods will be done then maybe YOU won't have the doubts.  See it is very hard for us to do what Luke 9:23 say, if any man will come after me, let him DENY himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.  That is the hard part is denying one self and allowing God to rule.  Please respond gently and don't take this as an attack on your knowledge etc.  But just have dialog with me.  Because, see I just came from a bible study where the presenter had dug up information about God destroying the earth twice.....lol now I don't know where he looked this information up and tried to form it from Gods word, but there is NO place that it say that in the KJV of the Bible that I have read. Then you have people thinking this theologically inclined person, has this theological information, because he has studied this information that he cited as being apart of biblical history, after trying to explain how the adversary came to be....lol  Bro. Watson, I know you are a friend and I am not sure about Bro Greene, but I can request it, but I would like the both of you to please advise.

In love sister,Denise

Sister Denise, its really not only a matter of "trusting God" at the very moment. This is a matter of 1) the interpretation of Scripture, and 2) the reception of God's activity in historical events as being valid evidence. For example, we can all read the same Scriptures from the same Bible, and we can all believe God, but due to our our belief system, historical background, and our prejudices, we may all see the same topic with a different interpretation. For example, almost everyone here sees Holy Communion the same way, and even refer to it the same way. However, others don't agree with your doctrine on it yet hold it in a very high regard (if not higher).

So the matter right now is to first know what God said and didn't say, what God did and didn't do. Only then can you trust His movements on the matter.

Where does the Holy Ghost fit in this?  Why is it that the Holy Ghost is not mentioned in the leading, guiding, and teaching of what God intends for us to know, understand and use as wisdom?  We have trusted in the Word of God, according to what God has intended for man to write, and yet the Comforter, who was sent after the seating of Jesus Christ at the right hand of God the Father, and we are ignoring the presence of Him (The Holy Ghost) in all that we learn, acknowledge, and do...

What???
