I WANTED TO LOOK AT THE CONCEPT OF ADOPTION AND GET YOUR OPINION ON A FEW QUESTIONS:

1. HOW IS THIS ACCOMPLISHED BY CHRIST?
2. WHY WAS IT NECESSARY?
3. WHO WAS ADOPTED?
4. ARE THERE DIFFERENT ADOPTIONS EXPRESSED IN SCRIPTURE?
5. WHAT ARE ADOPTED INTO: JUDAISM, CHRISTIANITY, BOTH, NEITHER?

Feel free to answer all questions or just one question or as many as you desire. I only ask that you share which question(s) you are answering.

Below are a few scriptures strictly pulled out by searching the word adoption. Of course there is more to each of these scriptures and I welcome your sharing even more than these:

Romans 8:15
For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Romans 8:23
And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.

Romans 9:4
Who are Israelites; to whom pertaineth the adoption, and the glory, and the covenants, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promises;

Galatians 4:5
To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

Ephesians 1:5
Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will...

Just my understanding that's all:

1. How is this accomplished by Christ? - When Christ took our place on the cross and died for our sins and conquered death and ascended into heaven and sits on the right hand of the Father, I believe all who accept Him as Lord and Saviour are in Christ and Christ in Him therefore making us adopted sons of God.
2. Why was it necessary? - I believe because the law (I can hear Moreh now) was a curse for man and we could never be saved trying to follow the law. There was continual sacrifices to atone for sin. Christ became the one time sacrifice for us to believe on Him so that all who believe in Him could be saved and sins forgiven.
3. Who was adopted? The Israelites first and then all believers who accepted Christ as their Lord and Saviour are grafted in.
4. Are there different adoptions expressed in scripture? I think the two adoptions are those under the law to receive the adoption of sons and for those by faith that believe in Christ Jesus.
5. What are adopted into Judaism, Christianity, both, neither? I feel neither because to me both represent religion and that is man's thing. Followers of Christ were called Christians first in Antioch but as a smear by those that didn't follow Christ. It wasn't tagged that by God or Jesus or Jesus' followers. I believe Jesus was just gathering His church.

In the bible it seems there are only three groups being spoken to the Jew, the Gentiles and the Church so we need to rightly divide His Word and know who is being spoken to in His Word. Just my take ok. So how far off base am I? LOL
LOL now what makes you think I'm testing you? LOL I was just asking a few innocent questions...that's all. Striking up innocent convo per se. No debate, just dialogue. (smile).

I won't comment on what you have said. at least not yet. Because I really want others to chime in and post some answers.

But I will ask you to do this for me. For the answers you have given, if you have scriptures to support them post them ok Remember, I'm a bible gal and I love the scriptures. If you don't have any supporting scriptures ... no problem, we'll chat some more once others post. ok.
I most certainly will! Now what makes you think I thought you were testing me? Would you do that? LOL
I PLEAD DA FIF
LOL!
Question.... was the word Hebrew a smear to the Israelites just as Christian was to those who were following Christ?

Question...what of those who are "adopted"? In your last post you addressed the origins of the family...and you admitted that there are those who are adopted. What of those persons? Once adopted by meeting the requirements....are they now of Israel or not? What are they called? Do they receive an inheritance and/or blessing? Is their relationship with the Father the same? Or, are they treated as red-headed step children.
El Elyon, we praise your holy name.
You are Ish to your bride, your people
When all hope is lost, you are eternally Miqweh Yisrael
El Chay, the true and living God, we worship you, there is none other like you
Adonay, Master we bow before you
Melek, King of all nations we honor you
Yahweh, though you are, we humbly call you Abba in the intimacy of our relationship with you.
Qedosh Yisrael, thank you for taking care of your family, those who are the firstfruits and those grafted in....there is no difference once in you.
Yahweh Rophe, heal our wounded hearts, silence the strife with your Holy Word.

Bless your holy name, you are all we need. Thank you for hearing our prayers in your name. Amen.
ok do dat...(smile)
Yeah I know but as I stated it's going to take time as He shows me. I'm struggling with enough right now trust me. LOL Why I asked you about what you read.
Brother Moreh already answered that. Gen 17:4 -5 Abram (Exalted Father) was told he would be a father of many (multittude) of nations. His name was changed to Abraham (Father of a Multitude) so I believe the promise was to all even if adopted. Don't forget God isn't like man and treat you as a red-headed step child. LOL
I don't believe Hebrew was a smear. It has two meanings: iysh (esh) meaning man, male (not a woman) and ibriy meaning one from beyond, a designation of the patriarchs and Israelites.

You want to be a school teacher don't you? You sound like one! LOL Only with love Tracy.
First lets get this issure straight. Just as all men became sinners in one man Adam . So did all men become saved through the blood sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. When Chirst died one the cross he died for all mankind as this plan was estabished upon the foundation of the earth in creation. God however has given all mankind the choice to accept or deny their salvation in Christ. Those who accept will be accepting that salvation and those who deny it reject salvation. We ourselves cannot keep the law as we have no righetousness of our own. We can only gain righteousness through Jesus Christ by letting His righteousness live in us . We do this by learning to have the character of God which is unconditional love for all mankind. Gods love is his grace.
