Salvation is it eternal regardless of the circumstances or not come on lets get everyone’s opinion

But what is your take on what would have happened if the prodigal son or anyone who had received salvation backslides by rejecting the Father, His Son, the Holy Ghost and totally turned away from the faith and DIED without having repented or had the opportunity to return to the fold. Would that person be heading for hell or heaven? This is a conversation that came up with a couple of my work colleague when we were in an after discussion on Luke 15:11-32 so I would be interested in having a discussion and receiving everyone's point of view.

instead of an intepretation of the Word, we have need of Holy Spirit's revelation in the Word!  Be not deceived, God is not mocked, whatsoever a man soweth , that shall he also reap.  Sow to the flesh reap corruption!   When we accept God's salvation, in the form of our Lord Jesus Christ we should be willing to put away the old  man and no longer desire to live in the sin we've been redeemed from.  We do this by surrender and submision, by renewing our mind and transforming our hearts.   Our desires then start to conform to His will, and we want to live a holy life, for without Holiness no man shall see God and no corruption shall enter heaven, which is our ultimate goal.  Salvation does not give us a license to sin, so my answer is no. Once saved always saved is no insurance policy.    IPeter 4:18  and if the righteous scarcely be saved.....          Think about  it?

The book of Titus is clear on all these confusion. Chapter 3:3-7 ; salvation is an act of God, staying saved is also an act of God. If our righteousness can get us to heaven Jesus would have not come. But remember a true child of God does not form a habit of continuing in  sin.

You mean a habit like sinning everyday? The majority of Church folk have this as their testimony though. Every day in thought word and deed they say! How is this not habitual sin? What constitutes a habit for the Church? Once a week? Once a month? Which?

Cant get with the whole OSAS doctrine even a littel bit. There are way too many scripture that prove this view to be a false heresy that leads many astray. It promotes ungodly living as long as the person does not finally fall away. SMH. Most people who hold to this doctrine live in sin each day. They have just found ways to excuse their sin. And yes saying "Jesus paid it all" is an excuse. He did not pay it all for us to continue to sin while shputing "Thank God fo rhis grace" he left an example for us to follow. The only eternal security is walking in the footsteps of the Messiah and staying in him. If you do not do this you will perish whether you once made a confession or not. Lets not be foolish. If you reject him he WILL reject you. That is the truth!

YOU CANNOT LOSE YOUR SALVATION!  The prodigal son was lost to his father, but first and foremost we must understand that he was a son and was eventually restored to his rightful position.  Our salvation was never for an instant in doubt because it was predetermined in eternity past and fully paid for on the cross.  Therefore those who come to understand this wonderful Scriptural fact, will never be troubled by those who try to teach that one can lose his/her salvation.  We did absolutely nothing to obtain it - having received it as a gift - and it is ridiculous and totally unscriptural to teach that we can lose it.  Can a son/daughter possibly do anything to change the inalterable fact of their parentage?  Can they become unborn?  Did they have any say whatsoever in their physical birth?  No, and as elect children of God we have no input or choice in our second birth, either!

All who really want to know the truth Read Romnas 11:19-22. Dont be lazy look up these scriptures and refuse to listen to hirelings like G.W.U.. John 15:2. ALL of Hebrews Chapter 6. 2 Peter 2:22.(Read surrounding context) I will be posting something soon on my page concerning the OSAS lie. Feel free to stop by and check it out if you are willing to hear the truth that your "pastor" will not tell you. I think deep down everyone has felt at one point or another that this belief is not true. It allows you to do whatever you want and thumb your nose at God because he once saved you. 2 Peter Ch 2 will tell you about not only the OSAS lie but also those liars and decievers who teach such heresy.

You are nothing but a philosopher. You try and use logic when the word of God is clear. That is what Seminary teaches you to do hireling?

Calvinism huh?

REALLY...........SERIOUSLY...................This entire conversation is for the benefit of who?

this conversation is vain let GOD BE THE JUDGE OF THIS WINS SOULS AND STOP ASKING CRAZY QUESTIONS YOU WILL GET A HEADACHE QUICK FAST

Also there are some rather disturbing things in Revelations were we are to endure until the end to be saved? I mean ................ I think the concept of salvation is following after God and to represent God's love and will for the remainder of our lives. I realize there is a common belief that is taught widely that once saved alway saved no matter what you do, but then again it doesn't say that in scripture.

The facts are that that God has a plan, purpose and calling on everyone in the body of Christ. How we get there is through maturity which can only come through the five fold gift ministry as it is ordained by God. It is the only way we are going to be neatly fit together and not be tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine.

Having said all of that, it is still about love and relationship not only with God, but each other for whatever we do even to the least of these we do unto Him directly. Also if we do not keep the commandments we do not love God.

Then we have the part of walking in faith and what I see at least as far as that is concerned is that we the body of Christ have already been given all power and authority in heaven and earth, which means if it is a mess out there, it is because the body has either endorsed the mess as it is lost its focus, or have not been taught what power, authority and responsibility we have or have simply sit passively. Either way it all falls on the leadership in the body as we influence the body of Christ. The body, in fact all in the world watch to see what God's people do and how one becomes one of God's people is by representing the love and will of God, for those that do not are not of God. It is that simple or complicated, but the real catcher is that we know we belong to Jesus by our love one for the other. It is  test for us to see how we are walking. Are we really walking in love? If we are then we will want and work to end starvation, homelessness, sickness and disease and care for those in prison.
