Should a pastor that spends most of his time preaching and teaching get paid for what God has him to do? I know what the scriptures says about this, but would you pastor for free?

GO BACK TO UR FACTS PROPERLY. ISNT SOME PASTORS TAKING ABOUT 200,000 POUNDS IN UK?? AND SOME PASTORS TAKING AUP TO 500,000 DOLLARS IN AMERICA. WE KNOW THE FACTS, GO AND RESEARCH WELL,

PEOPLE ARE SUFFERING IN THE CHURCH.

THAT IS JUST TOO MUCH MONEY??? FULL STOP
Yes, I would Pastor for free since God has blessed me in my tent-making business, whereas I can tithe to the church without requiring anything of the church.

I am very grateful for the financial blessings God has given me.
Well Sis Ree Ree,
if you did not have your tent making business would you pastor? It is easy to Pastor for free when you are financial secure But if you was not what would you do
Yes Pastor Edwards, without a doubt......I am naive enough to sincerely believe whole-heartedly that God is more than able to provide.
God Bless, I just wanted to share this , I truly have a heart for God's People and His Work, I pastored for 23 years 3 different Churches, I put my heart & Life into the people and the church, Because God has given us the passion to do so, however, It is a strong conviction now, that we really don't help people by doing for them what they should be doing, It does not matter how great or how small the salary, however, we must teach them that they are to give something for the spiritual food they recieve from the man or woman of God. If it's nothing but the 2 fish and a few loaves, God can and has always blessed His people , however His people had to do something with what they had. We hurt them spiritual when we don't teach them to give to the man or woman of God, The truth is you might be able to pastor without a salary , however, you are not going to be there for ever and the next servant may not be able to do the same as you. I must say this, most pastors in smaller churches usually (Bottomline) end up paying to pastor!!! Putting more in than they will ever get out, many times , not the Lord, but people will use your passion for a free meal. And the sad thing is, We can't help ourselves because we love and are called to do what we do. If you love your people get paid something, You really only hurt them in the long run for taking nothing. This is not something I read about, but something I have truly experienced first hand. God Bless,
LOL, I really need to follow my own advice!!! LOL
GOD BLESS YOU WOMAN OF GOD, THAT IS THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH AT WORK, GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU WHEN U GET THERE.
I agree with you Pastor Edward!

I am not called to be a Pastor but I have sat under some really good ones that was worth ten times what we were able to pay them. Some people take for granted all that they do. Some church people have a spirit of entitlement, they think that a Pastor should be at their beck and call for free. We pay our Doctors and Lawyers, why not the ones that storm heaven for us?
I feel you Bro! whenever did the Bible tell a preacher to quit a job and let the people take care of him,HMMMM! i mean if thats a collective decision of the church then i guess that fine. and for the love of God, why do preachers tax another ministry an arm and a leg to come down the street and minister @ their church? whats up with that!!!!
It's not a matter of being financially stable, it's a matter of knowing that god will provide. God gave us enough sense to know that if the rich sinner has a roof over his head and food on his table, surely he won't let us(his people) go without a roof and food! One scripture says freely I give unto you so freely you shall give. HE also said that he would provide a way of escape. Another scripture says the wealth of the wicked is layed up for the righteous. That is surely that way of escape! Then over in the OT it says I've never seen the righteous forsaken nor his seed begging bread!
You might want to study the word that your Rabbi Yeshua/J-sus used in his teaching it is called=T Z E D A K A H ...The only two things that Yeshua taught for the most part were Community Charity or Cultural charity from one to another"
This may help the Student among us:

Charitable giving from one to another ( Not to an institution) but to your neighbors and even to a higher degree to do charity to those you do not know...to those less fortunate..if you do this the Angels of YHVH will be pleased and greater doors of opportunity may open to you as a result.

Shalom and enjoy your day of Rest Shabbat Shalom' to one and all www.ShekinahLife.com / go group:
Absolutely not...If the pastor is going to spend time ministering and administering his flock...He must be paid or his/her attension will diverted towards eating. How many member are there in this congregation ? My email is Leonardcopeland@sbcglobal.net
I can truthfully say yes because it is what i did for the first year or so of Pastoring. I do also believe the size and income level of the church must be considered. While i know our walk is by faith, it was & sometimes still is hard not knowing when or if the church will be able to provide for the leader as should. To this day i only receive an offering from the church once a month and sometimes that doesn't happen. So unless i have out engagements, work is not an option. If God has called you, I don't believe you have an option. If you say this is what/who God called you to, then He must have a plan & purpose for the slow or small beginnings. While it may be discouraging to receive so little financially for all that we put out naturally, spiritually & financially for those among us; it is very rewarding to see the growth in other areas of their lives. Some of these very people have been so hurt & abused by other leaders that you just have to wait for the total breakthroughs in their lives before you see the harvest. If we walk away just because of money, what happens to their souls? Just as the bible says take no thought for tomorrow, we have to believe that the same God who sent us will therefore provide for us.
