I think sometimes when people refer to you as Ministers' such and such wife, they are showing respect to you in account of who you are married to. I have never felt that i am a title. You have to be confident in yourself, people love to use titles toward you, and some even feel important because of a title. Titles don't define you, so just be who you are. Remember titles are like clothes on a bird, with or without the clothes it's still a bird. so don't even sweat the titles, just do you! hope this has helped in some way.
My husband was licensed as a minister Sunday 02/22/09. Before his trial sermon, I noticed how different people started to treat me. So I can't say I know what you are saying just yet, but I already see that as a ministers wife, I am set aside (in there minds) but I am no different. I have the same struggles. I guess it's a matter of people getting to know you as a person, but they fail to sometimes because they can't see out of the box. As my journey continues as a ministers wife, I am hoping to have as many "get to know me" events as possible. Maybe that will help me deal with this situation...when it comes, because I KNOW IT'S COMING : )

Most of the time being called by your title is out of repect. However the fact that you just want to be yourself sometimes is a good thing. Because when you are leading women you don't just want them to so you repect. You want to have a relationship with them. You want them to be comfortable around you. especially babes in God feel like because of your title you are untouchable and they feel they are not able to be open with you. I have a friend who is about 20 years older then. I joined her church later I married a pastor and we started our church. When she comes to visit our church she calls me first lady or evangelist. One day we were at her house and she referred to me as first lady then she asked do you mind if I call you by your first name here because I'm still not use to call you first lady. I was find with that because I don't get caught up in titles but at church I must say the members do repect me by calling members by their titles.
