Over the years, I have heard many men and women in the holiness denominations say that women shouldn't wear pants in the church.

Were is the scripture to support the ideology that women shouldn't wear pants? If it is in scripture then I would have to ask why are men wearing pants? Did men wear pants in biblical times or did their wear something that covered their loins and then long robe like attire? I mean isn't that what you depict in your biblical plays? So why aren't the men being asked to wear similar apparel in the church to maintain a outward appearance of holiness? Why aren't they asked to not cut their hair (both facial and head)

What are the clothing designations for men in the holiness denominations.

After all, without holiness NO man/woman shall see God.....

Well Steve, the scripture tells us to judge not less we shall be judged with the same measure that we judge others. We walk in the flesh, but we do not war in the flesh. The weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. The devil is a thief, and he comes to steal, kill, and to destroy. Jesus said I have come that you may have life, and that more abundantly. We must pray without ceasing for one another, and hold up the blood stained banner. By His stripes we are healed.  So rejoice in the Lord, and give Him the glory for what He is going to do. Victory is mine, I told Satan to get thee behind, for victory today is mine. Sing that song, and watch God get the victory in your life, and mine. May the Lord bless you richly my brother.

WOW, again I don't even know what you said--say it in English please.  All I can say is Bell evil woman did wrong and needs to fix it.  This is not about me or Jesus or SATAN or you. It is about Bell and the wrong she did and that she needs to fix it--GOD DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!!!

Now that is in plain Engilish everybody understands.

Well Steve the scripture says if thy brother, generically speaking, shall sin against thee seven times in a day, and repents, then you shall forgive him. We all sin by way of commission, and omission.  Ye that are spiritual seek to restore thy brother in the spirit of meekness, considering yourself, less ye also shall be tempted. Love covers a multitude of sins, and we must love one another fervently. We will all stand before the judgment seat of Christ to receive those things done in the body, be they good or bad. We must make sure that we are building on those precious metals of gold, silver, and precious stones. Instead of wood, hay, and stubble. The fire shall test each ones works, and if it remains, he shall receive a reward. If it burns up, he will be saved yet as by fire. Jesus is the judge, and He is standing at the door.

Actually my name is not steve it is cock--but i don't like that name so i always put steve--anyway i see you are stilll at the fancy old english talk.  if you want to talk like they did in dem der bible days, shouldn't you say it in Latin or Hebrew or Greek? Anyway ALOIS BELL EVIL DEVIL STINKY WOMAN cannot be forgiven because she has not repented.  She only said she is sorry because she ebarassed her fake chuch people.  therefore DEVEL ALOIS BELL cannot be forgiven--not until DEVIL ALOIS BELL begs forviness from the waitress-begs forgiveness from all food handlers/servants, and begs Applebee's to give that waitress (even though she is a b(i)tch too) her job back. After that can we forfive EVIL ALOIS BELL--Give me a H(e)ll F(u)ck Yeah!  Brothers and Sistas. All you guys and gals are full of sh(i)t--DOWN WITH FAKE PASTOR DEVIL ALOIS BELL!!!!!

Well Steve, Matt. 18 is the chapter about church discipline, and two or three members of the church should go to Alois Bell to seek to get her to take responsibility for this offense, If she will not hear it, then tell it to the Church, and if she will not hear the Church, then the Lord will rebuke her. We pray that the girl that lost her job, can be restored.

Men and Women of GOD,

The dress code should always be respected wether in church or out of church.  We each know what the WORD says and if by chance we do not see someone that is dressing properly to our specifications then we should first check ourselves

We in the church can be a bit much at times.  If that person has come from some type of street battle (Living Life Hard) or hardship situation (Not Being Able to Maintain) then we need to cover them and help.  We as SAINTS know what we should do.  Hopefully their SPIRIT is getting feed and they are being repaired spiritually and emotionally.

Everyone cannot afford a nice dress or a suit.  Although, there are some places they can go to get one for free, who thinks of that when your life is in turmoil and you are trying to do the right thing by going to church to hear or see something different from the norm that just may keep you alive.

I see and hear of so many churches that have turned into a fashion show and that is ridiculious. Please do not miss understand me, dressing nice is good, but you get the point.  I believe that it is important to have respect for oneself and though one may not have a lot one should always respect what they have because it is still a blessing.

BLESSINGS

Thank the Lord Audrey for your comments, for they are right on, and we as Christians must be concerned for those who are not able to wear nice clothes. We are not hear to judge anyone, but to point them to the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said I did not come to call the righteous to repentance, but sinners. We must do our part, by helping those whom the Lord has given us the opportunity to share the good news to. The important thing is to seek first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness, and all those things shall be added unto you. Matt. 6:33

The Lord will show people what they should wear, being mindful of what Jesus said about Solomon, for even though he was the wealthiest man that lived  he dressed modestly.  As the poet once said "to thine own self be true" May the Lord bless you richly my beloved.

You are welcome PastorTimothy,

I agree with your comment and I think it was Polonius or Shakespare that made that statement "to thine own self be true" but it speaks volume for sure.  Our GOD is such a powerful GOD and his WORD illuminates and that is putting it mildly.  To GOD be the GLORY!

Shalom

I don't believe that this discussion was ever about whether or not the congregate can afford the wearing of 'nice' clothing to church, that is a 'new' topic!  It is my understanding the subject is whether women are out of order by the wearing of pants to church, and further to present scripture to support your conclusion. If I am misunderstanding the topic please forgive me as wearing pants does not mean to me that I can not afford to wear a skirt.

After a search I do not see that it is against God's commandments for a woman to wear pants in church, but I do realize that it could be consodered disobedience when going against church tradition and man's rules within the church. In several scriptures in the Bible we are told to respect and/or to obey our spiritual leaders and be willing to do what they say.  Should those partifular scriptures be taken into consideration in this conversation?.

Dear Evangelist Joyce,

We are seeking to harmonize the gospel account of how the Lord said Solomon, in all of his glory, dressed modestly, and the fact that the Lord pointed this out in Matt.6 tells us He is concerned how we dress. Paul in his letters said all things are lawful but I will not be brought into bondage to anything. If what you wear to church causes a brother or sister to stumble, then it is better not to wear that item. Paul also said to follow me, as I follow Christ. It is true we are to submit to those in authority as they will give an account for their souls. So those of us who are leaders in the Church will receive the greater judgment. I hope that helps you with your question.

I beg to differ with you on this verse.  In Matthew 6 Jesus emphasized secret giving in order to restrain us.  There probably isn’t a higher form of pride than strategically parading  our good deeds in front of others to see. There probably isn’t a more common desire to feed this pride than the desire to be praised by other people as a good and decent person.

So in this scripture (Matthew 6) the need for secret giving couldn’t be more clear to the reader.

I won't go much further in this discussion  ...  as those who are willing to study (especially 1 and 2 Corinthians) and get to the truth will understand that Paul had to address certain issues and problems of the early church which included the behavior of certain women in the Corinthian church.   So, he addressed these issues in letters (epistles) to the different churches he felt needed correction.. In the case of the Corinthian church and the women of the church ... they (the women) protested over certain matters by cutting their hair off and wearing the garments of the men of that day in order to make their point and be heard.  They (the women) even attempted to mix pagen religions into the early church.  So Paul wrote the Corinthian church in order to straighten out and bring correction there.

Paul also wrote about immorality problems in Corinth and he wrote about how to resolve personal disputes, and sexual purity. Such as,  marriage, Paul states that it is better for Christians to remain unmarried, but that if they lacked self-control, it is better to marry than "burn".

It seems that the problems they had back then are still problems we are having today.  Nothing much has changed.

A glance at just one of the early church epistles reveals the same problems many modern day churches face today (with some obvious exceptions, like #8 below). When the Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthian church, he had to expound on issues like:

1.The Problem of Divisions in the Church (1 Cor. 1:10-13) 2. The Problem of Worldly Wisdom as compared to Godly wisdom (1 Cor. 1:17-2:16) 3. The Problem of Carnality (1 Cor. 3:1-4) 4. The Problem of Immorality in the Church (1 Cor. 5:1-13) 5. The Problem of Bringing a Fellow Believer to Court (1 Cor. 6:1-8) 6. The Problem of Fornication (1 Cor. 6:15-20) 7. The Problem of Marriage and Divorce (1 Cor. 7:1-40) 8. The Problem of Meats Offered to Idols (1 Cor. 8:1-13) 9. The Problem of the Role Men and Women Should Have in Christ's Church (1 Cor. 11:1-17) 10. The Problem of Abusing the Lord's Supper (1 Cor. 11:20-34) 11. The Problem of Spiritual Gifts (1 Cor. 12:1-31) 12. The Problem of a Lack of Love (1 Cor. 13:1-13) 13. The Problem of Speaking in Tongues (1 Cor. 14:1-40) 14. The Problem of Wrong Teaching About the Resurrection of the Dead (1 Cor. 15:1-58) 15. The Problem of Collecting for the Saints (1 Cor. 16:1-3)

I want to thank you Evangelist Joyce on the diligent scripture quotations, and the context of Matt 6 is about the pride of doing good works before men to be praised. But verse 29 was talking about Solomon in all of his glory was not clothed as the lilies of the field, Jesus does not want us to worry about giving or what clothing we are to wear, just as God provides for the birds of the air, and the lilies of the field, God will provide for us. The Lord even causes the sun to shine on the just, and the unjust. As well as the rain falls on the just, and unjust alike. The Church is the ground for the truth, and we are to walk in love which is the completion of the law. Some will say that Christ abolished the law, but He did not, He fulfilled the law as the perfect Lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. John 1:29   I thank the Lord that you are a good student of the Word, as we are commanded to study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed, but rightly dividing the word of truth II Tim 2:15  This question about women wearing pants in church will go on, because of the many opinions on this topic. Yet let everyone be fully persuaded in their own mind. Matt. 7 tells us to judge not lest we be judged. So you are correct in your dissertation on this passage, and I pray the Lord will give you more enlightenment as you share the good news of our risen Savior the Lord Jesus Christ.
