Over the years, I have heard many men and women in the holiness denominations say that women shouldn't wear pants in the church.

Were is the scripture to support the ideology that women shouldn't wear pants? If it is in scripture then I would have to ask why are men wearing pants? Did men wear pants in biblical times or did their wear something that covered their loins and then long robe like attire? I mean isn't that what you depict in your biblical plays? So why aren't the men being asked to wear similar apparel in the church to maintain a outward appearance of holiness? Why aren't they asked to not cut their hair (both facial and head)

What are the clothing designations for men in the holiness denominations.

After all, without holiness NO man/woman shall see God.....

Bro Timothy Wayne George ...

I was a little surprised and a bit taken back by a couple of recent statements made on this thread  ... and was wondering why the statements were not challenged or at least addressed ...  they are the following two statements:

(1) "All this "holiness" stuff is about outer appearances and I believe God is more concerned with our heads and our hearts' ...the other..... .(2)  "Besides, that wasn't something God said -- that was something the Apostle Paul said."

Lets look at that first statement about "all this Holiness stuff"  ..what does the word of God say about holiness?:   In Leviticus 11:44 God says to His people, “For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy; for I am holy…”And again in Leviticus 20:26: “Thus you are to be holy to Me, for I the Lord am holy; and I have set you apart from the peoples to be Mine...

So Bro George from what I see, the cry for holiness rings throughout the entire Bible, and from what I read in the Bible isn't true 'holiness'  about the inner being that will transform the outer being ???... here's more of what the Bible says:

“Therefore, gird your minds for action, keep sober in spirit, fix your hope completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. As obedient children, do not be conformed to the former lusts which were yours in your ignorance, but like the Holy One who called you, be holy yourselves also in all your behavior; because it is written, ‘You shall be holy, for I am holy.’” (1 peter 1:13-16)

The Old Testament Hebrew word for holiness, kadesh, means “something which is cut off, separate or set apart.” It means to be anti-secular, in a category all its own, to elevate out of the sphere of what is ordinary.

In the New Testament the word used most frequently is hagios which also means “set apart, separate, in a class by itself.”

According to these definitions, to be holy basically means to be separated from common use and set apart, or reserved, for special use. In both Old and New Testaments the term is applied to (1) things, (2) persons, and (3) God.

---------------

(2)  ..  "Besides, that wasn't something God said -- that was something the Apostle Paul said."

Finally, Paul was one of the greatest men of God ... if Paul said it -- then it should mean something to the Believer    the Bible says in 2 Tim 3:16  " All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness",.

Not ranting, but the Bible says in all things get an understanding !

I agree with you Evang Joyce Anderson. Thank you for backing up your statements with scripture.  God bless you.

Dear Evangelist Joyce,

I thank you for the scriptures, and the etymology of the Hebrew, as well as the Greek meaning of the word holy. Isaiah 40:1 Comfort ye, comfort ye my people said your God.

We are here to comfort one another with the Word of God. I pray the Lord will continue to use you in His service.

That is absolutely right, Mr. George.

Holiness is not external, it is internal. It comes out in your speech and your actions and how you live your life on a daily basis and how you treat others, not in what you can repeat in the Bible. If you aren't living it, the Bible means nothing and has about as much weight and impact as a Rastafarian sitting on a corner smoking weed and talking about the gods of Ganja and worshiping two heads of lettuce.

My best friend doesn't talk it, she doesn't bring a Bible out on you though she can tell you what it says verbatim. She is ordained and not just ordained, but INSPIRED.

She lives a quiet life of holiness and sanctity within, as the Bible states the woman of God should.

She didn't ask a thing of me, wasn't expecting anything from me ... but took out her anointing oil and poured it over my head and just prayed and hand-walked me through post-surgery for a ruptured gall bladder, two pulmonary embolisms, pneumonia, fluid on my lungs, stevens johnson syndrome, came to my bedside when I was rehospitalized for a third surgery (and now I have to have a fourth one for a doggone hernia that developed, LOL!) ... she even gave me her own bed to sleep in after I was released from the hospital.

When the time came around, God considered her as holy and used me to bless her to the tune of a few thousand dollars less than two months later and she is back on her A-game financially, all of her past-dues paid and behind her and she wasn't even expecting it nor asking for it. God moved it for her in a mighty way because she had been faithful in all things even when it meant sacrificing herself for a friend.

Thanks to the HOLY woman of God, a real holy woman not a false one, I am doing well and back on my feet again and in my own home that God blessed me with and just talked to a real estate agent who is about to help me close on my new home built just for me. I am covered with the dewdrop of a thousand kisses from my sons and grandchildren who were happy to see me again after I had been gone for a too-long minute.

There was nothing like Lady Ann before and there will be nothing close to her after; these holy women who live it and don't just talk it are hard to come by these days.

There is pure holiness in that one act, and that is the way she lives her life--she always has.

Holiness?

I could not have paid her enough for the kindness, this Virtuous Women of Proverbs 31.

It was worth much more than I could have ever repaid her; but the Lord knew where he wanted me to go and made sure I went there and the right person was blessed coming in and going out the door because of it. There are folks who can talk a good game about "holiness," but they don't live their lives worth two cents close to what could possibly be considered "holy."

I realize that some people, like COGICs and all of those other sanctimonious "religious" types of the so-called Christian ilk, think that they have a handle on this holiness thing, but the funny thing about them is that they can sheem it on the outside and be just as unrighteous as Satan himself on the inside.

There is a "great noise" and puff of wind coming from their mouths, but it profiteth nothing -- nothing worthwhile or life-changing comes from their hearts or in their habitations, and no one knows them for the good they have done, only for the evil they have left in their wake.

They are all mouth, drooling like rabid dogs with words that make them useless to God, Bible or no Bible.

I wouldn't be the one going around quoting scripture {or "Bible debating" with others}, I work too hard to try and live it.

Thanks to the true "Holy woman of God" who wrapped me in her arms and did nothing but pray for me day and night, I am back in church of my choosing and living and doing well and have begun my ministry of service to others in spite of the evil that was done unto me prior to now.

I give God all the glory and my sister in the Lord, Lady Ann, the salute.

That is all.

Amen to that testimony, and all the glory belongs to God!!!

Did I say that?

And we ALL wear pants to church, even on Sundays ... cowboy boots with tassels, too. LOL!

Got this from a fellow blogger today who calls herself "Diary of ...". She says ...

I had a Spiritual awakening (yes, another one) last week.

I saw our young black sisters wearing pants down to their waists, mimicking their boyfriends, and frankly, I became disgusted.

I saw our sisters in Asian shops spending hundreds of dollars of rent money and food money for synthetic hair weaves and plastering ammonia and aluminum on their scalps to have the "nice hair" that will make their oppressors more comfortable. I saw our sisters in beauty shops allowing Korean women to pluck their eyebrows and attach fake, acrylic fingernails made with trace amounts of rat poison and manganese so they can have "pretty hands" because they are not happy with the hands that God gave them.

As I wandered around, I became more and more aware that the entire world is waiting for the true revolutionaries to step up to the plate and lead our revolution to freedom. The world is waiting for the one person whose strength and power is limitless. Whose love is so fierce that she will fight to the death for her family's survival. The world is waiting for the Black Woman to realize her role in this Universe as the Earth Mother, the Creator of life and the knower and seer of all things. The Black Woman is the one who shall lead the masses.

And that's why she is currently being destroyed.

I've advised you to study and understand European His-Story which is built ENTIRELY on the male principle of Yurugu. Inhale their military tactics. Study their xenophobia...even within their own clan. Understand why they are xenophobic. Study their ways of thinking and how they rise to power. Hitler made this excellent and truthful statement to one of his advisers:

"First You Get the Women, Then You've Got the Children, So Follow the
Men.

Now that is degrading and unHOLY to God.

He's the one who gave us our natural hair and skin color and the grace to bear it all.

Why are we going to spit in His face and tell Him we don't appreciate it by putting on some other folks' characteristics like cut-off horse tail in the heads and other color contacts in the eyes and phony nails that we can't grow ourselves trying to pretend to be something we're not? That is about as UNHOLY as it gets.

There is nothing that makes my skin crawl more than a wig or a weave on somebody's head and someone running away from their own saltnpepper grey and silver-white locks as if God didn't mean for them to be there. Like He made a mistake ...

No. God didn't make a mistake. My hair s'posed to be nappy and now it is grey. It is the Gift of God.

When we are walking in holiness we will know when to wear what and the right and wrong times to wear it.  God has a plan for each of our lives, and the way we present ourselves in this sinful world is important. I want my appearance to be Holy inside and outside, I want to be that Christian Jesus talks about deep down in my heart. Only God can make us holy and the Bible teaches us that we have all been called to be Holy.  I am disgusted by people who rant and rave about other people's degree of holiness or lack thereof. I don't care how you wear your hair, whether you wear a wig, hair weave, or cover up your grey hair and I don't believe God cares either. Thank the Lord for the Proverbs 31 woman who wanted to look her best.  There are some women who need wigs and makeup and hair color.  God made these things for us.

If we think others are not holy enough and do not meet our expectations, then pray for them.  Don't run fellow Christians down because you think they aren't holy enough, or because you wear pants to church and they don't.   I don't want to be the kind of Christian who is always looking at other Christians to criticize and say ugly things about them and tear them down.  I want to be the kind of Christian that looks at the heart of a person not whether or not they wear a wig, or doesn't wear pants, not any of that dumb stuff.  Have a blessed day

Dear Sister Alma,

Amen to all that you said, and that is why we should judge not less we be judged by the same measure that we judge others. When the Holy Spirit comes He convicts in righteousness, and sin, and judgment.  So just let the Holy Spirit do that as the Word of God is proclaimed.

I agree we need to be thankful for what God gave us.  Godliness with contentment is great gain. Bodily care is important, and we should seek to look our best. Nevertheless God looks at the heart, and that is what we must keep with all diligence.

A- to the -men.

Amen! Amen!Amen! U r right totally
