Should a pastor that spends most of his time preaching and teaching get paid for what God has him to do? I know what the scriptures says about this, but would you pastor for free?

Moreh,

I'd have to say that Pastors are not Priests, so you cannot compare them with each other when it comes to salary. Unless the bible condemns Pastors for receiving salary, then you cannot say its wrong for Pastors to receive salaries, brother.
I wasn't referring to you so now I"m going to say "huh?" to you. You know I know how you feel and was just in agreement with you? LOL Oh you must be fired up for some reason. How got to you Brother? I know how you feel on this subject for sure. I was agreeing with what you were saying to Brother Trevor. LOL Go sip some tea or something. LOL God bless.
First let's be relistic, churches are set set up like bussiness today, we have ATM machines in our churches. No one starts a bussiness with out hoping to reap the benifits. Anyone can start a church today for less than $100.00 dollars. You can get an EIN nuber free online.

Not everyone today who has started churches have been called by God but is in this for the money. We are living in a time today that we have to watch as well as pray and try the spirits. My Brother John you have not seen anything yet! and you are not the only one who feels the way you do.

I have a Ministry and God doesn't want to get paid for my services, therefore I work sometimes 84hours a week to support my Ministry and my self. There is nothing wrong with a Pastor working to take care of themselves. I love teaching and preaching God's Word it has nothing to do with money ...period! There is a big difference between those of us who were CALLED than those who have called themselves!

Prophetess Roberts
Bless the LORD for what you do Prophetess.
There is a big difference between those of us who were CALLED than those who have called themselves!

Thank you for this phrase Sister Roberts, this says it all and this is EXACTLY what I mean. There are those WHO HAVE CALLED THEMSELVES! I'm shouting right now because that is it! We have to try the spirit and find out which they are because there are too many that haven't been called by God but called themselves and that's the big problem. MOst think because one has a church or a title that they are called and that is so wrong. Satan calls them too! God bless you.
Okay, I'll come down to earth replying to this, lol, we are still wrapped in flesh, one must eat and provide for their families. Our churches today need to understand that if they want a pastor, to be their overseer, spiritually led, he/she should not be burdened by health insurance matters, mortgage matters, utility bills, and groceries, his labor should be to service his congregation.

Now of course starting off is a sacrifice, however if that leader is lead of God's Spirit, God will make him lay down in green pastures, (prosperity) for him as well as the church, and church members.

Compensation does not make one a thief, if that compensation has not been coerced, but freely given.

We can never beat God giving, and the churches of today have a huge problem with dedicated overseers falling by the wayside, because they are burdened with the cares of life, and wolves in sheep's clothing are there to knock them off.
So GREEN PASTURES means prosperity? What bibles are some of these words coming from or should I say the meanings. That sounds like a Creflo Dollar terminology to me! A minister shouldn't be burdened with the things the rest of us should be burdened with huh? I was looking for the word "pedestal" in the bible but it's not there. Maybe it's in another bible!
Please John give us your interpretation of green pastures?
I can tell you what the bible says since it's only provide once and then you tell me what it means to you Brother Culberson, since you like others to give their interpretation but I see you don't provide what you think. Now it's not that hard because Green means first sprouts of the earth; as clothing the meadows; food the beast eat and Pastures means a word altogether poetic, a seat or dwelling of man; where the flocks lie down to rest; or as in Jeremiah 25:37, peaceable (peaceful) habitation.

Please tell me what you feel it means because this is what God is saying and not me. Thank you in advance for your explanation of green pastures.
For the record I have given my stance on the topic of this discussion, but I have found it pointless to debate topics on BPN because when people are set they are set so whats the point of going back and forth? Now I just attempt to see why it is people think the way they do and get an idea of the type of person I am conversating with , so I ask questions. Learned that from a few people on here.

But to answer you question green pasture from my interpretation is the place the Lord will lead the sheep. It is the place of not only rest but the place of provision, not only is it the place where I will be provided for but the provision will be abundant I would not limit God's provision to only being food because I would be limiting Him and I dont want to do that. Yeah looking at it through the eyes of David when he lead his sheep to green pastures that was where the sheep got there food, but also it is where the sheep got there rest. Unless sheep feel safe they cannot rest. So to say that the Lord makes me to lie down in green pastures is to say that not only am I in a place of provision but it is to also say that I am in a safe place. I can rest when I am following the my Shepard. So literally I would say yeah I agree with you on your definiton of "green" not all to sure about "pastures" but the all around literal thought is on point. Hope I answered your question.
Thanks for you reply Brother Culberson. We say the same thing but you will know from Revelation our green pastures won't be anything like we know today or money nor the kind of food we know as food. Revelations 21 and 22 to me clearly says all things will be different in God's Kingdom. This isn't God's Kingdom as you know and His riches have nothing to do with this realm I believe. Once again thank you for your response and may God continue to bless you.
You knew "Daddy C.M. Grace" too???? WOW!!!!!!! Small world!
