Can someone please show me in the Bible where this is permitted and explain the text?
Truly, I have been inspired by all of the comments and insight that have come from many of you!! I wanted to open a discussion that would stir the hearts and minds of many and I did. I can see that it is man vs woman and should not be. My question still remains,,,about Women Bishops!!!! The Bible does not co-sign this. I really believe we all are hung on titles. Whatever you do,,,do it all in the name of Jesus. I wanted to make some points and say some things, so that it would stir your knowledge up and cause you to proclaim what you believe. I can say,,,I have walked into many churches,,,and without sayiing a word or opening my mouth,,,,how can these men detect, discern, or sense that God has a call on my life. AND,,,WHAT, call is that? Glory be to God,,,you see many of us should make sure that our scripture references that we are using to back up your point,,,is not contextual customed to fit in your box of beliefs. My statement to this was about,,,women Bishops,,,and I for one don't agree with the TITLE,,,but I believe that a woman can teach the Gospel,,,and if the HOOP is naturally in her when she delievers,,,then hoop. Whether you want to call it style,,,whatever,,,,we all have our style. So,,if I come to some of your churches,,,I can get turned off by even the way some you hoop or TEACH. Everyone is voicing their beliefs. This is a very sensitive topic,,,and women we must make sure we are wise virtuous women,,,one thing is for sure,,,we are MASTERs at multitasking. If God,,,called you to Sunday School, Evangelist,Prophet, then you must remain a help at home. Men,,,i believe if your wife works, has to take care of kids,,,and does servant service to her local Ministry,,,it just WONT kill you to assist her at home. This is one statement that needs constant understanding and research. Our prayer should be that the LORD will enlighten and reveal to us his truth,,,NOT YOUR OPINION or CONVINCING. You see,,he that wins a soul is wise. We must make sure we ALL speak wisely. God Bless You All And thanks for the replies and the most of all THE WORD!!

Its not, but you can't tell some sista's that its not. Sometimes just has to allow God to turn them over to a reprobate mind, just like our ravaged communities of depravity have been already turned over with a 'cherch' on every corner.
Unfortunately nowhere in the Bible, I say nowhere can you see a woman Bishop.

Woman Bishop for which kind of church?

The churches of the business women and men of today? Yes!

THE CHURCH of our Lord Jesus? No! It's not possible for a woman to become a Bishop in the CHURCH of the sovereign Lord Jesus. Never!

You can agree or not but it's true!

Bro. Germain
Well, I have to say that the Bible does mention, "Man as Bishop, being the head of his household and the husband of one wife" Now, how can a woman be the husband of one wife...Lord help me here! Ok, i understand and do recieve women preachers, teachers, and Pastors, but I cannot get with the title of Bishop. I guess this is what is causing such disray,,,"Titles". You know I often would say to myself, God,,, keep my mind right, my heart clean, and motives pure. You see, hearing from God is not going to be irrelevant to his word. I am really puzzled about the Woman Bishop thing. Now, I must argue where men read where Paul says,"women auught to keep silent in the church,,,glory to God haleujah. But see, I really thought about that, if women kept silent in church, then in these Baptist and Missionary Baptist churches when these hyms and choirs get up to sing,,,,,just let the women hush and see what kind of service will be rendered. Now, that is foolish to take it from that perspective. You have to gather , the Who, What, Where, When and Why...was Paul saying this. Obviuously not that. I am FOR us women preachers now,,,,but I can't quite gather that "BISHOPWRICK"" Help me out somebody
As the Bible lists a classification for Bishop,

my question is not about Pastoring, it's about title? I mean if you read Ephesians you will understand my arguement. Just read the text
There is NO scripture that shows this mess that we have going on in this church today.
This is happening because of weak men who bend and bow to everything just because of money and popularity.
Jesus was NEVER worried about popularity nor money.
He spoke the truth and died for the truth.
If you not ready to die you not ready for this.
There is NO scripture and trying to fix, cut and paste one YET doesn't make it right.
I agree, there is no scripture for Women Bishops, not even Apostles. I mean,,,,I am an Evangelist and I am not here to prove what God called me to do, but I am puzzled on the leadership titles. Don't get me wrong now, women can preach just as good as some men, but these titles is what's blown out of proportion. I tell people that I minister too,,,,,,,,if you black and your mom is black,,,,then you been hearing women preachin,,,,,ALL yo life,,,,AMEN lights...now that is true. Whether you wanted to hear her or not, to stay in her house,,,,,you listened. I dont agree with the Pastors that have women preachers sittin up in their church,,,, and there is no training or they dont allow them to minister in or out,,,,!! That's being cynical and egotistical for the most part. However, it's still ALL about Jesus and one thing is for sure,,,if one opportunity does not open for the women, God will open another for them to speak. The pulpit is not for Gender, its for Pit Survivors,,,,MALE OR FEMALE!!!
Whats the difference between a pastor and bishop?
Dear sister,

A woman should not be a Bishop, a Pastor or Evangelist.

The single duty of women can be found in Titus 2:3-5.

We must get stuck to the old school teaching of Brother Paul and all the Apostles, because the true Church of Jesus Christ is “built on the foundation of the Apostles and Prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone”.

Ephesians 2:20

Indeed, a woman can prophesy according to Joel 2:28

"And afterward, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your old men will dream dreams, your young men will see visions”.

Joel 2:28

Let me tell you that the teaching of Brother Paul was in line with Joel 2:28 1.

Brother Paul teaches that a woman can pray or prophesy (1 Corinthians 11: 4-5)

The promise of the prophet Joel was that "sons and daughters" would prophesy after the Holy Spirit was given to the church (Joel 2:28)

Admittedly, all of them, men and women were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

HOWEVER, only the twelve Disciples (MEN ONLY) were entitled to teach on the day Pentecost:

“Then Peter stood up with the Eleven, raised his voice and addressed the crowd: "Fellow Jews and all of you who live in Jerusalem, let me explain this to you; listen carefully to what I say.”

Acts 2:14

Joel 2:28 can never justify women’s teaching in the Assembly of the Saints.

But what should women do in the Church?

As good mothers old women ought to teach what is good to their daughters: a woman can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God.”

Titus 2:3-5

They can testify as the Samaritan woman did:

"Come; see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?"

John 4:29

They can prophesy, pray, testify or teach young women.

HOWEVER, they do not have the right to be put behind the pulpit to teach the Word of God, in the Assemblies of the Saints, in the presence of the men and the women. I think that the Bible is sufficiently clear.

Please tell me, were the teachings of the Apostle Paul related to woman’s clothing or submission in the church, to their husband addressing an isolated situation in Ephesus and Corinth?

I don’t think so!

Are the teachings of the Apostle Paul on these issues outdated?

NO, I do not think so!

Because the Bible declares that: « All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

2 Timothy 3:16-17

Let’s see what Paul said:

“For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church. Did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached? If anybody thinks he is a prophet or spiritually gifted, let him acknowledge that what I am writing to you is the Lord's command.”

1 Corinthians 14:33-37

Was Paul referring to “the Corinthian culture and its laws”?

Paul truly said:

1- “As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches”

What Paul said was concerning not only the Church of Corinth but also all churches of the saints in the whole world.

2- “They must be in submission as the Law says.”

The law here is the Law of God. This Law can be found in Genesis 3:16, Ephesians 5:22-24, 1 Peter 3: 1.

This is the reason why the same Paul, speaking about the attitude of the women in the church (1 Timothy 2:11-14) referred to Genesis 3:16.

Paul was not referring to the particular Law of Corinthians. No!

The teachings of Paul can never be based on the rules taught by men. Never! I say never!
“They worship me in vain; their teachings are but rules taught by men.”(Mark 7:7)

3- Did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only people it has reached?”

Indeed, The Word of God didn’t originate with Corinthians. Moreover, they are not the only people it has reached. The Word of God is universal and identical for all the congregations of the Saints. Consequently, Paul did not speak about the particular culture of the Corinthians, insofar as there is only one faith (Ephesians 4: 5)

4- “The Lord's command”

What Paul did say was not his own opinion; it was the Lord’s command. Amen!

Women of God, Do you really Love the Lord? If you truly love Him, then you should obey His command, for the Lord Jesus said:

"If you love me, you will obey what I command.”

John 14:15

Do not harden your heart anymore but leave the pulpit to men of God. Recognize your place! Please recognize that your place is behind! Amen!

The scripture which clearly prohibited the Corinthians and Ephesians women from teaching is the Lord’s command. That is valid for the women of all the congregations of the saints (of any time).

That scripture was valid for Deborah, Anna, Priscilla, Phoebe, Mary, Tryphena, Tryphisa, Euodia, Syntyche and son on.

And it’s valid for the women of today.

May God open your eyes!

Blessings,

Bro. Germain

Dear sister Yolanda Burton,

Women can sing, pray, prophesy in the Church, but they must not stand behind the Pulpit and teach the word of God in the Assembly of God in thte presence of men and women.

It is very clear, isn't it?

Indeed, the Bible says:

"If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church".

"1 Corinthians 14:35

The Bible doesn't say if they want to sing, they should ask their own husbands at home. No!

The Bible doesn't say if they want to testify, they should ask their own husbands at home. No!

The Bible doesn't say if they want to pray, they should ask their own husbands at home. No!

The Bible doesn't say if they want to prophesy, they should ask their own husbands at home. No!

But, the Bible truly says that "if they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church".

IF THEY WANT TO INQUIRE ABOUT SOMETHING...

This part of the verse above deals with TEACHING, GIVING OR RECEIVING INSTRUCTIONS.

SPEAKING HERE FREFERS TO TEACHING IN THE CHURCH.

Indeed, Brother Paul precised his statement in 1 Timothy 2: 12:

"I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent".

I DO NOT PERMIT A WOMAN TO TEACH...

TO REMAIN SILENT HERE MEANS "NOT TO TEACH AND NOT TO HAVE AUTHORITY OVER A MAN"

However, women can sing, pray, prophesy in the Church.

Dear sister, I do invite you to search and read my message entitled: "WOMEN OF GOD, ARE YOU REALLY CONSCIOUS OF THE KEY ROLE THAT YOU OUGHT TO PLAY IN THE BODY OF CHRIST?

Blessings,
