Should a pastor that spends most of his time preaching and teaching get paid for what God has him to do? I know what the scriptures says about this, but would you pastor for free?

Lonnie,

Show the bloogers where in the bible that God said to tithe money?

I never stated that Yahweh commanded his people to tithe money. Tithing was never about money. The tithe was the agricultural produce of the land that was given to the Levite Priesthood.

show the bloogers in the bible where God said it's O.K. to charge people to preach at thier church?

Read where Paul spoke about muzzling the ox. The word of Yahweh does not condemn a man from receiving pay for his services. You dont have a case for this lol. You are basically going by your own emotions, and how you feel about the subject, but I bet you 100% that you cannot find a scripture that condemns a man from receiving pay for his preaching.

I told you to re-read what I said about that. I gave my honest intentions on why I would charge $5000. If you truly understood it, then you would not be accusing me of coming up with new ways to sin. Oh ye of little understanding. Before you come accusing, get understanding... I think you need to read the book of Proverbs.

Shalom
Brother,

Once again, I don't live by your understanding but Gods. Re-read what I wrote. I never said you said anything about tithing. I said my question was never answered. Second, Paul never charged anyone for preaching. You need to get understanding and stop adding to God's word. Paul asked the people to get there GIFTS together for his visit. He didn't charge, he siad Gifts. In other words, if the people had anything to give they should give it. but, do your biblical history before copming at someone. the gifts wasn't always money. it could have been clothes, maybe money, but mostly it was food. But I think you need to read 1 Tim 6: the entire chapt., but pay attention to VS 5-10. The money gospel is what is running the people to other faiths. We need to trust God more and let Him take off us as He said he would. People always want to take one scripture and run with it without reading everything that God said.

God Bless
Brother,

Once again, you are misquoting Paul. Here goes the lesson. Please get this understanding. I Cor. 9: 9-18. Paul is talking about the people giving gifts for preaching. He is saying that other people charge and how the preacher of the gospel deserves better than anyone else, but that's where you have stopped and I will continue.

VS 15
But I have used none of these things, nor have I written these things that it should be done so to me; for it would be better for me to die than that anyone should make my boasting void.

VS 16
For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to boast of, for necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I don't preach the gospel!

VS 17
For if I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if against my will, I have been entrusted with a stewardship.

Vs 18
What is my reward then? That when I preach the gospel, I may present the gopsel of Christ WITHOUT CHARGE, THAT I MAY NOT ABUSE MY AUTHORITY IN THE GOSPEL.

Read my brother and STOP misquoting God for your financial means!!!!

God Bless
Lonnie,

I've never misquoted Paul. If anything, I ALWAYS keep him in his HEBRAIC context, rather than CHRISTIAN contect. I respect what Paul said, for many in his day INDEED wanted a piece of the kingdom for GAIN. Take the man in the book of acts when he wanted to BUY the gifts of what Peter had. I have no wrongful financial gain. Its just that you IS misquoting ME.
Actually, the Bible commands to get understanding. Thats everyone, both man and GOD.
Brother Greene,

The bible does say to get understanding, but not from men, but from God.

God bless
How can you deal with the men around you better if you don't seek to understand them better? You will keep your head in the clouds, and think that the idea will drop from the sky like manna? JESUS understood the people of HIS day, thats why HE was able to use parables like "a sower sows a seed" to a bunch of farmers, and to speak to fishermen and say "I will make you fishes of men". To Pilate HE spoke as a King/Apostle.

In all thy getting, get understanding.
$5K!??! Thats kinda....WOW!
In Proverbs 3:9, wise King Solomon gave the words to honor GOD with your substance. Since none of you guys have a farm, are you all exempt?

Also, you mentioned that Paul received gifts which would include clothes, food, but then you played around the words "maybe money". If the missions trips to preach the gospel cost them gold and silver, why is it a crime to receive it? Why is money such a hard topic?

The answers are simple:

1) people grew up believe "money is the root to all evil", and even when they read and found out that it wasn't, they still lived with such an idea governing their moves in the Church;

2) People want to honor GOD with everything they have but their money. A gentleman here said GOD don't care about your money, but the Bible says different. If this were not the case, then you wouldn't see things like GOD worrying about blessing you with substance (Isaiah 60-61; Mark 10: 29-30), nor would Solomon have mentioned honoring GOD with your substance (Proverbs 3:9)
Brother,

Once again you people love misqouting scripture to make it fit your theology and your money gospel. Proverbs 3:9 is good if it is talking about money, but it isn't. Once again, you must read futher like you don't do.

VS 10
So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

VS 11
My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD; neither be weary of His correction:

VS 12
For whom the LORD loveth He correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

VS 13
Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

VS 14

FOR THE MERCHANDISE OF IT IS BETTER THAN THE MERCHANDISE OF SILVER, AND THE GAIN THEREOF THAN FINE GOLD.

As I said before, stop teaching people the half-truth. God ain't worried about your money. He wants your obedience more than your sacrifice and your offerings.

God Bless
Lonnie,

You love to assume what's not even there. Thats the consequence when you do not READ. I am not teaching a money gospel, although you want me to so that you can satisfy your own lusts. He wants my obedience? Oh... He has it, and its full of Torah. Where is YOUR Torah obedience?
Bro. Lonnie:

That does NOT say that gold and silver are not to be desired, just that wisdom is to be desired more. Who is twisting what now?
