SHOULD A PASTOR ,MALE/FEMALE WHO HAS BEEN EXPOSED ,BEING ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN ABOMINATION(SAME-SEX)ACTIVIETIES BE RESTORED TO OFFICE?

having been called on by those exposed , those doing the exposing, finally those who were hurt, destroyed, almost destroyed/affected by this issue, to war through prayer , sound ,compassionate wisdom, understanding, and relentless adherence to scripture through the HOLY GHOST on the matter of deliverance, healing, and restoration, should they be restored to office? what about the mess in the wake ( p.s. i wasn't called on until after the fact. sometimes months, some instances years .)CHRIST is so soon to come and that these things still have to be dealt with is @ times "mind boggling"

Shadonna Cornish,

I have a question for you. If a pastor or youth pastor has been engaged in child molestation and served his jail time and has claimed deliverance, should he be restored to that position? Should he or she be allowed to reclaim a position in which he will be once again dealing with children.

We must also keep in mind that God is not calling all of these people. Some are self appointed or appointed by men.

I think this is the point that everyone is trying to make that sometimes people are hurt by the actions of leaders and shouldn't the concern be more for the children, women or members that were hurt by this? No one is saying not to restore them as a brother or sister, but do you feel they should be put back in this same position after these lewd sexual acts?
I wonder if Judas Iscariot would have been restored to his position with the disciples after he repented for the "kiss" of death?

What was King Saul's restoring moment?

How about Samson's?

WE tend to forget that God's love is not like ours.

There shouldn't be this Christian blanket of restoration back to the position without considering the situations individually. Where one person can be restored back to the family of Believers but not thier former position, another could be restored to both.

For some reason we think it is UNLOVING, to enact a punishment in the church.

I Timothy 3:15 but in case I am delayed, I write so that you will know how one ought to conduct himself in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and support of the truth.

I Peter 4:17 For it is time for judgment to begin with the family of God; and if it begins with us, what will the outcome be for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

And we just toss Matt 18 right out the window..

15Moreover if thy brother shall trespass against thee, go and tell him his fault between thee and him alone: if he shall hear thee, thou hast gained thy brother.

16But if he will not hear thee, then take with thee one or two more, that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.

17And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell it unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.

18Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

19Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.

20For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

We can go thru the process of removing a person from the ministry position using the Matt 18 steps of church discipline but we will still have to deal with a major issue... forgiveness.

21Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? till seven times?

22Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven.

More than restoring a person back to a position that they had in the church is the issue of forgiveness of all who are involved. WE have to forgive that person for how they hurt us. They have to forgive themselves and also forgive us for the offense that they may hold in their hearts for NOT being restored to their previous position but only being allowed back into the family.

Do you see the cohesiveness of Jesus' teaching?
But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those who are weak. (1 Cor. 8:9)
Sometimes it better to move on, becuse it's easier people to accept what you are brining to them if they have't experience the pain that you caused. It may even be easier for you to grow. someone weak or in new to the christain way of life may have a tough time dealing with you becuse being part of the fall. where those newly form relationship will more likely be received as a more powerful testimonial.
CIVILIZATION IS ROUNDING THE CORNER ON TWO WHEELS, WHETHER IT WILL RIGHT ITSELF OR SKID OFF INTO DISASTER IS STILL THE UNANSWERED QUESTION. MORAL FOUNDATIONS ARE BEING DESTROYED. OLD FAMILIAR ROAD SIGNS HAVE BEEN TAKEN DOWN AND NEW ONES HAVE NOT YET BEEN PUT UP, WE WONDER WHICH WAY TO GO.WE DO NOT KNOW WHERE WE ARE GOING OR WHY AND WE HAVE ALMOST GIVEN UP THE ATTEMPT TO FIND OUT. WE ARE IN DESPAIR BECAUSE THE KEYS WHICH WERE TO OPEN THE GATES OF HEAVEN HAVE LET US INTO A LARGER BUT MORE OPPRESIVE PRISONHOUSE.WE THOUGHT THESE KEYS WERE SCIENCE AND THE FREE INTELLIGENCE OF MAN. THEY HAVE FAILED US. WE HAVE LONG SINCE CAST OFF GOD.NATURE HAS LET US DOWN, GOD SEEMS TO HAVE LEFT THE RECEIVER OFF THE HOOK, AND TIME IS RUNNING OUT
IF THEY HAVE DEMANDED THE SPIRIT TO LEAVE,CLEANED HOUSE AND REPLACE IT WITH GODS SPIRIT YES
I don't mean this to sound harsh but I think a LEADER has to do what is best for those who he leads. This includes recognizing when one can no longer lead. Leadership is different from a personal relationship with G-d. The personal relationship may be restored but this doesn't automatically mean that he or she can return to being an effective leader. They may have a tremendous testimony of how they overcame but this doesn't equate to leadership ability.

Leaders have always been dealt with by YHWH more harshly than followers because there is too much riding on the leader for them to do whatever they want. Moshe was not allowed to go into the promised land because of what he did. Saul.... lost a lot for what he did. David lost a child for what he did. etc. Leading YHWH's people is serious business because you stand as a representative of G-d. Yes, as a sinner you can have forgiveness, but usually someone who "has been exposed" has issues besides the abomination they committed. Someone had to "find you out" means that you did not volunteer change of your own desire to be clean. Someone had to expose you in order to wake you up. And during that time you were trying to hide your transgressions, possibly deceiving people in the process. Even if people can forgive you for what you did they may not TRUST you enough to be a credible leader. And if that is the case then stepping down may be the best thing you can do in that situation.

Shalom
