Titles In The Church

Why are some people and some preaches stuk upon having titles in the COGIC.

Greetings Preacher! When people do not know who they are, what they are to do fo God and try to please man, then a going after a title is the thing to do and have. The truth is, we are all on our way to heaven. God said or uses the word...Pastor not Dr. in His Word. Now you hear so much, Dr. this and Dr. that. Does not mean Dr. is closer to God. Too many of us try to out-do each other. For a season, churches would let poeple know about their new church by telling the number of seats. I thank God for He has delivered me from people in 1998. I learn to be myself(still saved), but not trying to please anyone, dress like nobody, talk like somebody and so on. Some Preachers might not feel like a Preacher if they do not sit in the pulpit. I never cared to sit with a group of Preachers, even tho I am a Preacher. If anyone should be up praising God, ought to be those who hear from God the most. Sometimes our "titles" keep us from giving God the praise. Last thing Preacher! I always wonder why Pastors are NOT inside the church when or before church starts. If God has not given him/her a Word by 8am Sunday morning. Help me somebody! When I go to work at 7am, I am ready to work at 7:01am. I had to perform Gospel Comedy, 80% of the people were Pastors. I had them laughing, then made them mad in a nice way telling them about themselves. One thing I recall saying, if they sit in pulpit and NOT praise God, the members will do the same(some will). THAT IS A GOOD ? I HAVE WONDERED THAT MYSELF, IT IS NOT GOIN 2 MAKE THEM LESS THAN WHAT THEY R IF U DON'T CALL THEM BY THEIR TITLE. MY PASTOR IS A BISHOP BUT HE DOESN'T LET THAT STOP HIM FROM BEIN WHO HE IS. HE ALWAYS SAYS I MAKE THE TITLE BISHOP IT DOESN'T MAKE ME. PPL WILL STILL RESPECT THEM OR SHOULD RESPECT THEM EVEN IF THEY DON'T CALL THEM BY THEIR TITLE.GOD WILL STILL USE THEM IF THEY HAVE A TITLE OR IF THEY DON'T, SO PPL SHOULD GET OFF OF THAT IT MAKES PPL THINK THEY R MORE THAN WHAT THET R WHEN THEY DO THAT ALL OF THE TIME.

Titles make them feel more important and says that they should get the respect that they would otherwise get.
I say it like this- be who you are in God and we won't need to know your ecclesiastical title.

God Bless you my Brother. You've given me the place to air this concern where it will or should do the most good. I want to address this to all my fellow brothers & sisters in Christ. I'm not going to pull any puches here, so if you can't take the truth then click off this answer right now while you still have a chance to not get your feelings hurt. The reason most preachers have to 'give' themselves a 'higher' title than others is because of their low self esteme. If they puff themselves up then they feel they've made something a little better of themselves. To 'buy' or have the title 'Dr.' placed in front of your name or church office makes you a little more 'elite' and acceptable 'knowledge-wise.' Yes I went there!!! I said "BUY." I know of several ministers that have bought their 'degrees.' But as a wise man once said "you can degise a fool until he opens his mouth." The latest 'craze' to hit the market is to get the title 'Prophet', 'Prophetess', 'Apostle' or 'Deciple' falls in the same catagory. I knew one preacher that had on his office wall, all four 'higher degrees.' No problem there. I looked a little closer to see that acording to the 'degrees', he went to the exact same school for all degrees. Again no real alarm.

I noticed that my full answer was not printed here. I'll try to finish it here. The problem came when I looked a little closer to see that he recieved his BA 'degree before his AA and recieved his PHD before his MA 'degree. What do you think he should have done? Yea, I thought so. See, we're so easy to let it go. He shouldn't have even tried to fool anyone in the first place. Do you think God is happy with these shinanigans? Who are we trying to fool or convience of our great knowledge or abilities? The 'new' titles do the same thing. Puff you up? Why??? You don't deserve it. The titles should be reserved for those that truely EARNED them!!! The Apostles are long gone. Why are you trying to imitate them? I'm so tired of those 'Prophet-liers' that think they have 'a word from the Lord' and really aren't saying anything!!! Nothing that any one of the rest of us couldn't say! God's gonna get ya!!! Stop vyeing for the top post in the kingdom. Remember those that shall be last, shall be first. But because you seek to be first here on earth, you shall be last in heaven. Let God put you where he wants you! Your self imposed title won't make you taller in my book. I'll look at you with more distain because it will be obvious that you think you're something that obviously you're NOT!!! Your judgment will be harsher for this than those that didn't know better. You've been warned!!! God Don't Like Ugly!!! Just Do The Right Thing. Let God Be God, and you be the MAN or WOMAN that God wants you to be!!! Yours in Christ. -Eld. High
