What Is The Old Testament Good For?

I keep hearing ministers express the irrelevance of the Old Covenant (Old Testament/Law) as if we can toss everything prior to Matthew's gospel from the Canon of Scripture. Ironically, even though we know the New Testament is inspired and serves as Scripture illuminating the New Covenant, there is no clear reference by many of the New Testament authors confirming that they intended their writings to be such. Contrast that with numerous instances where these same authors reference the OT; refering to it as Scripture.

How do we in good conscience condemn everything OT? Tithing pre-dates the Law, but we say it's no longer relevant because it's in the OT. What about the 10 Commandments that is the cornerstone of the OT Law? Do we toss that also? Why also do many 'New Testament' churches decommission significant NT rites such as water baptism and communion? And, in light of our loose nature concerning Christian observances, why do we complain when people opt to conserve finances by 'churching at home' via television or the web?

First, you have to prove where Yeshua Himself said He came to abolish the Torah. He kept the Torah because it was commanded by His father. Temple required duties are impossible to do, because there's no temple in existence now. There's no ark of the covenant, which you sure well know. You have separated Hebrews from Gentiles all day long when it comes to the Torah. We all keep the same Torah.

Now, what you must do is show me where Yeshua said the Torah was abolished, THEN, show me where any Apostle said that the Torah was abolished. Deal?

You ask questions that you already know the answer to. CHRIST's mission was not to abolish initially, but to fulfill the Torah requirements. Now that they are fulfilled, the Law of done away. You hate to see me use Romans and Galatians, but if its there, then its there!!

Romans 4:13 "For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith."

Romans 5:13 "(For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law."

You are adding words. No where did the word ever say that Christ did not come to abolish all of the Torah "initally." You added that word to support your false doctrine. Look at the word fulfill in Matt 5:17-19. Its not referring to a completed action in the sense of it being done away. In Hebraic thought, its referring to the correct way to carry out the Torah.

I do not hate to see you use Galatians & Romans. I hate to see you ABUSE Galatians & Romans. So, show me where Yeshua said that the Torah is now done away, then show me in the Epistles where it stated that all of the Torah is now done away.
