Are you a God Seeker
Are you a "Seeker"? I am not talking about the words you speak out of your mouth daily, but do you have a lifestyle that requires you to daily seek God? Are you running hard after God? Are you one who is truly seeking God in everything? Or are you nursing a grudge, hanging on to past hurts, anger, frustrations, bitterness, or un-forgiveness? How about seasonal disappointments and moments of heartache? Are you hiding behind a mask (trying to cover up your true feelings)? We tend to dress up a lot of things in Christianity, we put on a facade; you know we fake it until we make it. When in reality we are just barely hanging on and doing our thing in the natural. There is an old saying in the church, “Are you yet holding on? Then keep on keeping on then baby!”
We call it a "faith walk" when really we're sitting on a fence hoping we don't get pulled off into anymore situations and/or circumstances than we can handle.
“Seek the LORD while he may be found; call on him while He is near.” (Isaiah 55:6)
In this particular scripture God is commanding us to seek Him while He still may be found, to call upon His great and mighty name, while He is still near! I like a command. The word SEEK, v.t. pret and pp. sought, pronounced sawt. [L. sequor, to follow; for to seek is to go after, and the primary sense is to advance, to press, to drive forward, as in the L. peto.] 1. To go in search or quest of; to look for; to search for by going from place to place. “The man asked him, saying, what seekest thou? And he said, I seek my brethren,” Genesis 37:15-16. 2. To inquire for; to ask for; to solicit; to endeavor to find or gain by any means. To make search or inquiry; Seek ye out of the book of the Lord. Isaiah 34. To endeavor or make a discovery: Ask not what pains, nor further seek to know .Their process, or the forms of law below. To seek after, to make pursuit; to attempt to find or takeTo seek for, to endeavor to find. To seek to, to apply to; to resort to. 1 Kings 10.To seek, at a loss; without knowledge, measures or experience “The young lions roar after their prey, and seek their meat from God,” Psalms 104:21.“He found no place for repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears,” Heb 12:17b. “Others tempting him, sought of him a sign from heaven,” Luke 11:16. 3. Seek is followed sometimes by out or after. To seek out, properly implies to look for a specific thing among a number. But in general, the use of out and after with seek, is unnecessary and inelegant. To seek God, his name, or his face, in Scripture, to ask for his favor, direction and assistance according to Psalms 83. God seeks men, when he fixes his love on them, and by his word and Spirit, and the righteousness of Christ, reclaims and recovers them from their miserable condition as sinners. Ezekiel 34. Psalms 119 and Luke 15. To seek after the life, or soul, to attempt by arts or machinations; or to attempt to destroy or ruin. Psalms 35. To seek peace, or judgment, to endeavor to promote it; or to practice it. Psalms 34. Isaiah 1. To seek an altar, temple, or habitation, to frequent it; to restore to it often. 2 Chronicles 1. Amos 5. To seek out God's works, to endeavor to understand them. Psalms 111. There's no ambiguity there. God spells it out in any Bible translation the same way: seek Him. We have to be seekers in every area of our walk with God. David was a seeker and he even asked God to help him not to wander.
”I have tried my best to find you – don't let me wander from your commands,” (Psalms 119:10).
There are some great benefits to being a seeker, but God requires some things of us as His followers. He wants us to have clean hands and a pure heart, and not to worship idols and tell lies. If we do the right thing, and remain obedient to Gods command here's what we get:
”Who may climb the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in His holy place? Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies; they will receive the Lord's blessing and have right standing with God their Savior. Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, O God of Jacob,” (Psalms 24:3-5).
We get the Lord's blessing and we will be in right standing with Him. In righteous simplicity, Jesus spelled out the answer to the cry of a seekers heart in Luke 11:10 which says, “For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.”
We will receive, we will find Him and He will respond to our knock. Seeking hard after God is not an exercise in futility; it's the Will of God for our lives. It's His command. It's His way to bless us. It's the way we receive righteousness more abundantly.
”Sow for yourselves righteousness, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the LORD, until he comes and showers righteousness on you,” (Hosea 10:12)
My brothers and sisters God says NOW is the time to be a seeker after Him. God wants us to sow right standing with Him and we will reap what we all really want –the unfailing love of God! A seeker is running hard after God, and looking for Him daily. A seeker wants to be a witness to the truth of the WORD of God. A seeker wants to pray without ceasing. A seeker wants to do God's will at all cost. A seeker is looking at every opportunity to pour out of their spirit what God has poured into their spirit that day. Whether it's a song deep down in the treasure of their heart, or a word of encouragement, a word of knowledge, a word of deliverance or just lending a listening discerning ear, God wants us to stand in the gap for each other every day, whether we feel like it or not, whether it is convenient or not. We don't all get "full" of God every morning but when we're on empty or running off of fumes, He can still use us and only He gets the glory for it!
God is not far from us. In fact the Word says, "He's the friend we have that sticks closer than a brother, and he is so nigh unto us that He is even in our mouth". No matter how far you feel from God today take the chance and sow right standing with Him – He will shower you with righteousness. As, you sow an upright walk remember what the Word says- we reap what we sow – so you will get more righteousness, and more righteousness leads to fulfilling your place and purpose in the Kingdom. As you fulfill the call that God has placed upon your life it will help you equip others to fulfill theirs as well. Then and only then will the church be doing what they are supposed to do- Kingdom Building! You see – we actually carry part of the responsibility as Christians to fulfill God’s destiny on the earth! We are held accountable unto God not man for what we do in this life! We don't think we actually have a part, but we do! Tell yourself, “It must begin with me.” And it all starts with the desire to seek after God and to do His will.
Relinquish your past, drop that burden of past sins in the sea of forgetfulness, get over yourself, stop having a pity party, grow up in the spirit, move from milk to meat and move forward into your future as a Seeker after God! Again I ask the question, “Are you a seeker?
