This book UNDERSTANDING THE TIMES is a timely book in due season, that brings a clarion call to the church of God which have literally gone to sleep. The writer of this book draws the attention of God and man to the present state of the church which is the body of Christ. The church today is a far cry from God’s original intention for the church. This book in your hand has a mission of bringing back the church and the backslider to God’s original intention for the church. This book is expository and insightful in regards to the unfolding end time events. Lot of the mysteries that seems to becloud the end time activities will be unraveled. This book brings to fall the appropriate timing of the pre and post tribulation events. We are presently in the technology age. The earth has never known technology at the dimension it presently is and this is the major tool of the anti Christ to reign with on the face of the earth. Our attention is also drawn to the beast and his mark. The church is called to be at alert as concerning these end time events as they unfold. As you read this timely material put together by this servant of God take time and set yourself on fire again as we prepare for the return of the King of kings our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

The "fruit tree" illustrates the life of the believer in Christ. Each of the major sections of the tree has metaphorical significance, in that we can associate them with aspects of the believer’s life.

We know the roots are the starting point for considering the tree model. Consider an early stanza of Joyce Kilmer’s poem “Trees,” where a tree is personified as a baby “whose hungry mouth is prest / Against the earth's sweet flowing breast.” The comparison of roots to a mouth ...is logical because they are the respective access points for the nourishment of a tree and a child. And so, as the source of water and nutrients that the tree needs is the soil into which its roots dig deeply, the believer’s source of nutrition is Christ Himself. We are rooted and grounded in Christ [Col. 2:7]—more precisely, established in saving knowledge of Him and in experience of His love and grace—and with that connection firmly made, Christ can transmit to us the “nutrition” we need to grow spiritually. Godly convictions, attitudes and standards are the “water” and “nutrients” our root system then absorbs.

The next section of the tree to consider is the trunk. Like the stem of any plant, it is a conduit for the nutrients and water to reach the outer extremities of the tree. The believer’s constancy and submission serve as the “trunk” of his life. Stability—evidenced by, among other things, faithful attendance to bible study and worship services—and obedience—evidenced by, among other things, the personal application of the principles being taught—jointly carry the desired convictions, attitudes and standards to the place where they facilitate fruit-bearing.

The final section of the tree is the fruit. Fruit is the evidence of maturity in a fruit tree. Water and nutrients finish their perambulation through the tree by coagulating at the limb-tips, where fruit buds and then ripens. In our Christian walk, the result we are looking for is manifestation of the fruit of the Spirit [Gal. 5:22,23]. This fruit will develop organically as we “metabolize” the convictions, attitudes and standards that have traveled through the trunk of our constancy in service and submission to teaching.

As a final thought, we should remember that our Christian lives have been designed by God to be fruitful. The processes of our spiritual development are fairly automatic if we do not hinder matters. We need to be reminded how new fruit trees in Israel were allowed three seasons of maturation before their fruit was be considered edible… and that fourth year’s harvest was a first-fruits offering to the Lord [Lev. 19:23,24]. God was patient, but eventually He expected good fruit from the trees. We see how, when the fig tree was supposed to bear fruit, Jesus in fact cursed it because there were only leaves on it [Mat. 21:19]. God expects us to grow and develop in this way. At some point He will look for fruitfulness in our lives.

The Truth About Tithing!!tag:abcpreachers.ning.com,2014-02-26:916966:Topic:58000382014-02-26T14:35:26.094ZPastor Cornelius Simonhttps://abcpreachers.ning.com/profile/PastorCorneliusSimon

Now this doesn't excuse folks from giving to support God's work through the local ministry or the support needed to sustain the pastor as he/she does his part to pastor a church and teach God's people His word, but we, as pastors and leaders, need to teach the Truth and learn to trust God.

The term “doctrine” generally means “teaching” or “instruction.” We usually use the term, however, to represent the whole content of what is taught in an educational program or catechism. The doctrine of the Church of God in Christ refers to what is taught throughout our brotherhood of member churches.

Our triune God has disseminated doctrine to His people. The Father said His doctrine dropped “as the rain” to the earth [Deut. 32:2a]. Jesus astounded hearers with his doctrine, “for his word was with power” [Luke 4:32]. And we are told the Holy Ghost is responsible to teach us all things [John 4:26], and bring to our remembrance what Jesus said. We know that God is sending teaching to the church.

It is the doctrine that was delivered to the church that saves and keeps saved individual believers. Paul instructed Timothy to heed “unto the doctrine” and to continue in it, “for in doing this thou shalt both save thyself, and them that hear thee” [1 Tim. 4:16]. Right doctrine gave us power over sin; as Paul told the Romans, “ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you [Rom. 6:17]. Our doctrine helps us witness to others; the believer “may be able by sound doctrine both to exhort and to convince the gainsayers” [Tit. 1:9]. In fact, any work we do for Christ is empowered by our doctrine; we are “thoroughly furnished unto all good works” by the doctrine we extract from scripture [2 Tim. 3:17].

We would be wise to consider that we also encounter false doctrine in the way. This is why the writer of Hebrews warned us to “be not carried about with divers and strange doctrines” [Heb. 13:9]. In Jesus’ own day he had to guard his disciples from the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees, which was corrupted and false [Mat. 16:12]. And, of course, we no the origin of all false doctrine is ultimately the Devil; from the fall of mankind, he has been distorting God’s doctrine to snare human beings [2 Cor. 11:3]. False doctrine is propagated today principally through “false teachers” who rise among us and introduce “damnable heresies” to susceptible believers [2 Pet. 2:1]. Such false teachers have always troubled the church: epistles by Paul, John and Jude have large sections dealing with false doctrine’s threat to the nascent church. But as we look at the 2000 years since their day, we must admit that heretics and false teachers regularly come forward. We believers must stay vigilant against fals doctrine. We must let no man deceive us [Eph. 5:6]; we must let no man beguile us [Col. 2:18]; we must beware [Phil. 3:2; Col. 2:8; 2 Pet. 3:17]; and we must never give heed [1 Tim. 1:4; Tit. 1:14] to false doctrine.

This danger brings to the forefront how important it is to distinguish right from wrong doctrine. We will have to remain prayerful, and study God’s word to be confident in our knowledge of the truth. Most importantly, we need to let the Holy Ghost be our teacher [1 John 2:27] so that we will be fortified against error and have a mechanism to “try the spirits” that approach us with false teaching.
What is the "sabbath rest" of Hebrews 4:3?tag:abcpreachers.ning.com,2013-12-19:916966:Topic:57846262013-12-19T23:14:31.495ZJoseph Gillhttps://abcpreachers.ning.com/profile/JosephGill

1 Timothy…

Exodus 20:3 “Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”
Deuteronomy 6:4 “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD.”
Psalm 102:25-27 “Of old hast thou laid the foundation of the earth: and the heavens are the work of thy hands. They shall perish, but thou shalt endure: yea, all of them shall wax old like a garment; as a vesture shalt thou change them, and they shall be changed: But thou art the same, and thy years shall have no end."

1 Timothy 6:15,16 “Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords; Who only hath immortality, dwelling in the light which no man can approach unto; whom no man hath seen, nor can see: to whom be honour and power everlasting. Amen."

The pre-eminence of God is asserted in Exodus 20:3. We realize the same from Deuteronomy 6:4; moreover, when we consider the Hebrew, we see an allusion to the tri-unity of the Godhead. The Hebrew word rendered “the LORD” in English is Elohim, a plural form that is treated as a singular noun (at least implying multiplicity-in-unity). The passage from Psalm 102 celebrates the omnipotence, creativity and eternality of God. 1 Timothy 6:15,16 is also an ode to omnipotence and eternality.

John 6:27 “Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.”
1 Peter 1:2 “Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.”
John 20:28 “And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.”
Acts 5:3,4 “But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.”

In discussing two Persons of the Godhead, John 6:27 makes it clear that the Father and the Son work cooperatively. The salutations to the epistle 1 Peter, in mentioning all attributing the existence of the diasporic Church to the work of all three Persons, builds on that theme of their cooperation. The testimony of the disciple Thomas was meant to actually equate the Father and the Son, as he referred to the resurrected Jesus as “God.” Similarly, the comments by the apostle Peter serve to equate the Father and the Holy Ghost.

Matthew 28:19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”
2 Corinthians 13:14 “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you all. Amen.”
Matthew 3:16,17 “And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

The visible manifestation of the Holy Spirit and the audible voice of God the Father at Jesus’ baptism makes Matthew 3:16,17 suggestive of the tri-unity of God. So too is the inclusive references to the Persons of the Godhead by Christ in his great commission (Matt. 28:19) and Paul in his epistle to the Church in Corinth (2 Cor. 13:14).

Ephesians 1:3-6 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. ”
John 5:37 “And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.”
Hebrews 12:9 “Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?”

Those who believe on his dear Son have been adopted into God’s family (see also Gal. 4:4,5). The Father gave us Jesus to reveal to us more of His nature and will (see also Heb. 1:2), so that even though we have “neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape” (for God is a spirit, and thus outside of our sensory perception), Jesus could serve as the “image of the invisible God” (Col. 1:15).

John 4:24 “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
1 John 4:8 “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.”
1 John 1:5 “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.”

The verses state that God is love and that God is light, and further imply that God is truth (since he can only be approached by worship based “in truth”). By implication, the truth, love and holiness of God is affirmed here. There is no evil in His purposes, will or acts. He does not operate in dishonesty or guile. The attribute of love means God cannot operate maliciously or capriciously.

The attributes of God here shape our view of God. He is seen as self-existent, immutable, eternal, omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent, loving, true, holy, merciful, gracious, and yet still just. A Christian apologist must memorize some of these passages, to shore up this understanding of God’s nature with proof texts. An awareness of what God is like helps to reconfirm our devotion and faithfulness to him. Yet as useful as this “head knowledge” can be, a deeper understanding comes through experiential learning. In instances where weI experience the identifiable mercies of God, for example, we capture a fuller sense of what it means to say “one of God’s attributes is mercy.” Or, for example, to visit the a planetarium--and eyeball the vastness of the Milky Way Galaxy--has to impress the believer with the relative immensity of God. Such illumination into the God of our salvation is a sheer inspiration to our Christian lives.
Can a person be Carnal and Spiritual minded at the same time?tag:abcpreachers.ning.com,2013-07-22:916966:Topic:57319712013-07-22T10:03:33.533ZPastor Jasper DeWitt Srhttps://abcpreachers.ning.com/profile/JasperDewittSr
