Psalms 42

1.As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God.
2.My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When can I go and meet with God?
3.My tears have been my food day and night, while men say to me all day long, "Where is your God?"
4.These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go with the multitude, leading the procession to the house of God, with shouts of joy and thanksgiving among the festive throng.
5.Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and
6.my God. My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon--from Mount Mizar.
7.Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers have swept over me.
8.By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me-- a prayer to the God of my life.
9.I say to God my Rock, "Why have you forgotten me? Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?"
10.My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me, saying to me all day long, "Where is your God?"
11.Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

The Holy Spirit is leading me to write to those in the Body as a warning against spiritual dehydration. He lead me to the "natural" causes of dehydration to give a better idea of the "spiritual" cause of dehydration. Natural dehydration occurs when more water is being expelled than taken in. Spiritual dehydration is defined as a condition that occurs when you are expending more spiritual "energy" than what you are taking in. We don't often talk about this in the "House of Faith" as it is not "appropriate" for saints to be tired or get weary sometimes. Sometimes, we can be so well meaning that we neglect the obvious.

Here are some common causes:

- Excessive elimination- In the natural, this refers to conditions such vomitting or diarrhea. In the Spiritual, it can be lack of time for proper study and prayer/meditation. You can easily get so caught up in the demands of job, family or seasonal holiday preparations that the first thing to suffer is our time with GOD.

- Excessive Sweating- In the spiritual sense, stress can be the "sweating". It's not just purely having stress that can dehydrate you, but it depends on how you handle it. When adverse situations or conditions come, sometimes we spend time trying to "make thing better" or "correct the problem". Given enough time and effort trying to remedy your own problems (or stress), you can find your "spirit man" in a spiritually depleted situation.

-Burns- In the spiritual sense, burns are emotional hurts that we receive. When the body is injured, it focuses increased resources to heal the "ailing body part". It is no different when we suffer emotional "hurts". Loneliness, betrayals, or depression can make us turn inwardly. We become so focused on our ailments that we deplete our spiritual stores that we can not minister to ourselves or to others.

- Lack of proper diet- Eatting the wrong things can throw off the balance of your natural body. Having a poor spiritual diet has the same effects. Are you eating a proper amount of the Word of GOD?

Here are a couple remedies for spiritual dehydration:

-Drink plenty of fluids- CONNECT YOURSELF TO CHRIST! Remember HE is our source. In John 4:14, Jesus says "but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

- Eat a balance diet- Watch what you eat. Be careful to get enough of the Word of GOD. Study and apply the Word to your life.

- Rest- Spend more time in prayer and resting in the Lord. In time, HE will renew your strength.

Be Blessed in Him!
