#1 Moses and Elijah were known to the children of Israel through their very own scriptures.

So here are these two pillars of the faith having a conversation with Jesus on the top of a mountain.

The death of Christ was not unexpected but was written about by the prophet Isaiah 700 years before it actually happened. Isaiah 53:1-12.)

Everything that has been written in the Old Testament, including all of the prophecies, pointed to the person of Jesus Christ.

There were three present to establish what happened there as truth, the truth of God’s word (Deuteronomy 17:6, 19:15, Matthew 18:16, 2 Corinthians 13:1).

Moses and Elijah both had, during their time on earth, met with God on a mountain (Exodus 24; 1 Kings 19). ...

Moses represented the Law or the Pentatuch, that predicted Jesus' coming Deut. 18: 15-19

Elijah represented the prophets who foretold of Jesus' coming Malachi 4:5-6

They were speaking of Jesus' death
Hi Evangelist - I have decided to extend the deadline for answers until 5 August 2009 which will give you time to revisit Q1 and Q2. - Please email your answer to me. I will post the correct answers and the name of the winners on Thursday.

I pray this will prove an aid to all of us in growing in knowledge with the word. My aim is to make our studying and learning fun and competitive so we can enjoy becoming knowledgeable in the word.
I can't get too many to try the trivia questions I posted some time ago:

http://www.blackpreachingnetwork.com/forum/topics/bpn-bible-trivia-...

I think they are afraid to try. LOL
Hi Minister - Why are you preventing participant from researching the Bible that could be the reason for the lack of interest. My idea is to get more people involve in studying the Bible more by looking for the answers they are reading and researching Gods word so we can grow in knowledge of the word. The idea is to have fun while studying takes the tedium out of doing it on your own.

Anyway I was not aware you had started a Bible Trivia otherwise I would not have started one too on this site but you know what when it comes to increasing our knowledge it God there can't be too many so Sister lets push ahead and drum up interest people have two of us to keep the brain ticking and to help them increase in knowledge.
They are not doing too badly so far. I have had answers emailed to me and person is 75% correct in the answers. I will post the winner and answers on Thursday. They have till Wednesday to give the answers. And I have faith so I know tits already a success by the amount of emails I have received and response I have had asking for the questions
1. Why was it Moses and Elijah rather than anyone else that Jesus met while walking with three of his disciples?

My reply is that Moses according to Deuteronomy 18:15 God considered Moses to be a Prophet like our Saviour Jesus Christ that was to come and again God mentioned this in Deuteronomy 18:18 – 19. There has never been a Prophet of God since Moses of course with the exception of our Saviour, who was more than a Prophet.
Elijah was also a great Prophet delivering God's Word to Israel that God took without death in 2Kings 2:11 who also came in the form of John the Baptist as stated in Matthew 11:14. The two greatest Prophets were Moses and Elijah.

2. What was the action or incidents in the bible either old or new testament that occur that justify your answer to Q1 above?

My answers for Moses in Deuteronomy in 18:15 and for Elijah in Matthew 11:14 and the fact he was taken without death.

3. What symbolic representation would say the cross (shape) holds to you in terms of us (man), earth, heaven and Jesus? (answers on this one could be subjective to the individual but we see how this one goes)

To me this signifies the Passover with putting blood of lambs on the door post of the homes to have death Passover the children of Israel so no one would be put to death but the 1st born of Pharoah’s people. This to me symbolizes the meaning of Christ on the cross being our sacrificial Lamb to take on our sins so we would not die eternal.

4. Which woman having been denied her right under the Levirate Law as promise to her was left no choice but to disguise herself in order to become a mother?

I don’t know if it was the Levirate Law as you stated because this was before Moses was but Judah’s son Er had a wife Tamar that Judah gave to his other son Onan who spilled his seed on the ground because he knew the child would not be his. So Tamar posed as a harlot and laid down with her father in law Judah. This is in Genesis 38. I just can’t think of anyone during Moses time.

5. What is the name of the woman or women who change the face of Jewish law in winning a great victory by demanding rights to property through the right of inheritance where there are no male children?

These were the daughters of Zelophehad of the tribe of Manasseh, Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah and Tirzah.

Well Teach how did I do? This was a good quiz. Let me know the answers.
Hi John
Good try- I have extended the deadline until Wednesday next week to give enough time for research.. - So far you have 2 out of 5 correct. So far no one have question 1 or 2 correct. Can I make a suggestion there is many people that could of met with Jesus i.e. Abraham, Noah and David who was after Gods own heart and who's soul was bound with God but neither of these three men were elected to meet Jesus which should stretch you to think what was it in either action or incident that occur specifically with these 2 men Moses and Elijah why they were the men elected to meet with Jesus almost at the hour of his death.

Now I hope this help you
A Clue to Question 1 and Question 2 you can find clues to the answers in both the old and new testament so dont just concentrate on old or new. I believe if you figure the reason for one of the men Jesus met then you should have no problem in working out the reason for the other one then all you have to do is find the scriptures
I should tell you someone has got 3 out of 5. I am getting answers by email as well. I can also tell you one person has accidently touch on a sentence which could give them the answers to Q1 & 2 this is another person who answer by email they have been told to revisit.. If they figure it out they should be able to figure out the answer.
A word of encouragement

John I just read your answers again and find you may be closest to working out Q2. In Question 2 you have the right research method and could get to the reason but may I suggest that you are looking in the wrong section for the wrong men i.e you do need to look in the new and old testament, you are the only one to figure that out. But you are looking for the reason for the wrong men in the wrong testament try switching the men around so you are looking in the right testament for the reason for the right men. If you figure out Q2 then you will have the answer to Q1. Wishing you joy in your search.
I like this Sister Angela because though I'm in the Word every day this is great. This is what I"ve come up with again:

Ok I see in 1Kings17 where Elijah cried to the Lord to for the soul of a child to be given to him again and stretched himself upon the child three times and the Lord heard and the soul of the child came back into him again and he revived. Also 1Kings 18:15 Elijah did say to Obadiah, as the Lord of hosts liveth, BEFORE WHOM I STAND I will surely shew myself unto him to day. He’s talking about Ahab.

How about in Revelation 11:3 & 7 talking about the two olive trees that I feel is Moses and Elijah though some think Enoch and Elijah.
You are in the right area for Elijah not necessary the right section of the book, but way too far ahead for Moses. I would tend to concentrate on the Gospels for him. But don’t forget you still have Q3 to answer as well. Remember the elements that I ask for the connection with. Go get studying and the key is to have fun. I am off to my weekly Bible study lessons taught by my Pastor whose teaching has enabled me to be in a position to set these questions. I am only just now realising the volume of knowledge God has enabled him to impart on us.

This trivia is proving great lots of people from my work is also taking part off line and answers are coming in all the time.

Today one person at work gave the answer so correctly to question 3 for a minute I assumed I had written the answer and he found it but no this was of his own knowledge. Another one as soon as they saw the paper new the answer to question 1 and 2 and nearly spoil the quiz by blurting out lucky for me no one taking part heard him.
Different individual have answered all the questions however those that have correctly answered Q 1.& 2 have not answered 3, 4 &5 and those who have answered 3, 4, 5 have not correctly answered 1&2 etc
