I thought about this while working on my previous discussion;
What is the trend of pastors retireing from churches because they dont want to grow old in the ministry?
Last I checked ministry is not a job but a calling. And if we can retire how does one know when it is that time?

In comparison to the sons of man,yes they retire.Todays pastors thats on a national stage,step back for a role in fund raising and speaking engagements,to continue to receive a royalty from the church they help nationalize.It's amazing how in the beginning,Adam,Seth,Mathuzula,Enoch,they lived into the hundreds of years and even though they had passed the torch to another,they were still held in great esteem,and were advisors to their replacements.And most were blessed with extra years of life,due to being obedient to God's word,and making sure the visions they utterred,remained on course.Today it's write a book,go on tour,or try to come up with a more easier to read bible.
I believe a person can retire from the position but not the call. There is a transitioning period when it comes to ministry. I don't believe a pastor has to die in there position. I do believe that one can transition from the pastoring position to a mentoring or advisory position.

When is it time? Paul realized that his time was up. 2Tim4:7 "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith". When we seek the Lord than God will let us know when that time maybe. We cant let pride get in the way because it is not our ministry it belongs to God.
