EMERGE 2010: THE CONFERENCE FOR PASTORS AND LEADERS OF SMALL AND EMERGING CHURCHES AND MINISTRIES

COTLH hosts Conference for Pastors and Leaders of Small and Emerging Churches and Ministries

February 22, 2010

Church of the Lords Harvest will host Emerge 2010: The Conference for Pastors and Leaders of Small and Emerging Church Pastors and Leaders May 20th  through May 23rd  2010.  The Conference will begin Thursday, May 20, 2010 at 6:00 pm with many keynote speakers, workshops, worship services, and a televised luncheon panel discussion.   Bishop Steven Smith, pastor and conference host states, “This conference is being birthed out of my passion for the small church to be appreciated as a viable entity within our communities.  Too often media attention has given much attention to the work of the mega-church when the majority of the churches within our country are those that have 50 to 150 persons in average attendance on Sunday mornings.”

The goal of the conference is to resource a remnant of small churches whose average church attendance is between 50 and 150, by building up and encouraging the local ministry leaders, as well as provide avenues to affordable resources of every kind that will enhance the local Body of Christ. Bishop Smith says, “The aim is to take something that society sees as small and equip it to make a major impact in our communities and to encourage new church plants, which I see as the most effective means of doing evangelism in the 21st Century. I’m excited about Emerge 2010.”

Joining Emerge 2010 are keynote speakers, Bishop John L. Hickman, Senior Pastor, Living Word Faith Center-Houston, TX & Life Enrichment Ministries, Atlanta, GA; Dr. Rodney Smothers, Past Director of Congregational Development, Baltimore-Washington Conference, United Methodist Church; and Pastor Evelyn Turnquist, New Hope Pilgrim Church, Lake Park, FL.  Other speakers include: Pastor Rob Seagears, Director of Church Planting, Assemblies of God; Pastor Chris McMillan, Life House Church; Pastor Anterio Cunningham, Church of the Lords Harvest; Bishop Craig Coates, Fresh Start Church; Pastor Mark A. Thomas, Freedom Church and several other pastors and church coaches from the eastern seaboard of the United States.  Music will be rendered by Jarmel Evans, Elise Lewis, Marcus Williams, Amanda Standard and other various music ministries from small churches.

The conference is the week preceding Pentecost Sunday which is a highly celebrated time in the Christian church and is open to pastors, aspiring pastors and leaders of small and emerging churches and para-church ministries from all denominations.  The location is Church of the Lords Harvest, 11711 Laurel Bowie Road, Laurel, MD 20708.  Space is limited. You must be registered to attend the workshops and luncheon.  All worship services are open to the general public.  For the schedule visit: www.cotlh.org.
