Matthew 6:25-34

...I say unto you, take no thought for your life, what shall ye eat, or what shall ye drink; nor yet for body, what ye shall put on, is not the life more than meat, and the body more than raiment?

Our lesson text asks a profound question as it relates to what is a more important, material possession or eternal life? The reason why Jesus ask this question there were some discussions on earthly possessions or serving the Lord our God with our whole heart. Material possession has a short life span whereas eternal life is for ever.

Another school of thought is that Jesus was trying to get His followers to trust Him and take Him at His word of supplying all our needs. Material possessions were no exception.

Verse 33 sums up the fact of where we are to place our priorities; because God our Father knows all our needs and have promised to supply them. What we are to focus on it heavenly things first and let God do the rest. Verse 34 tells us not to worry about tomorrow let it take care of itself. Why because God is in control and knows what each day will bring.

Believers and all humanity are bountifully blessed to have a God who knows our needs and freely supplies all we need. What He asks of us is to seek Him first and everything will be added.

God our provider who provides and supplies all we need.
