Rev, what about R & B. What about Neo-Soul. What about even Gospel. People are more concerned about creating a song with a good hook than singing songs that chance people's lives. There is no such thing as a perfect church, a perfect ministry, or a perfect people. We must study all of these things and begin to use what God shows us to show ourselves approved. The enemy has taken many things to try and use them for destruction, but God would love for us to take those things and use them for His glory. I'm from the hip-hop era with no babies out of wedlock. Been married for eight years and love my wife and three children.
I reach souls in Ward-8 in Southeast, DC. One of the worst places in the world. I watch them go from serving satan to serving the Lord with gladness. The pants come up. The gang signs leave. The tattoos stop, and they still love hip-hop. We are not trying to change a religion, we are trying to change a relationship. Religion is that which we do. Relationship is that whom we love. I can love the Lord through a rap song as much as I can through a song that is sung. I don't promote anything that takes away from the glory of God, but I don't stop anything that takes away from it either.
By the way, you kinda reaching with that crack statement. Crack is not hip-hop. Crack is a drug. LOL.
I will step out of the debate. I just worry that it's so easy for the body of Christ to throw away a generation and yet call for God to move on the hearts of man. If you say protecting them then so be it. I ain't been saved all my life and I worry that 30 years ago when I got saved that if my Box hair cut and lee jeans would have gotten me excluded from the Kingdom of God. Thank God Jesus went back for the One lost sheep...These people need not be judged but loved into the body of Christ loving not judged.
Such were some of us in a different time. They closing churches here lately...why? We have claimed all the saints I guess.
Psalms 54:1, "[[To the chief Musician on Neginoth, Maschil, [A Psalm] of David, when the Ziphims came and said to Saul, Doth not David hide himself with us?]] Save me, O God, by thy name, and judge me by thy strength."
The chief Musician is to play this psalm on Neginoth meaning to play with stringed instruments. We would have to conclude that God allowed a variety of different instruments, styles of music and forms of dance to be used in praise & worship.
Neginoth is also a song that is used to mock and ridicule another. Can you see any origins of hip hop or rap incorporated by using the Neginoth genre? I don't believe that there is anything that is new under the sun including the hip hop or rap style and sound.
David declares that if you are going to judge me, judge me by the name of Jesus and nothing else (Golden Nugget). On a more in depth note David has been anointed but not yet appointed. Many people will mock you along the way. They don't know that God has a few strings (Neginoth) that he is about to pull for you to help get you down the road to where he has called you to be, and God is going to have the last laugh (Neginoth).
