it's not the music . it's the way the music is displayed as well as the way the music takes a second seat behind the worldy version of hip hop. the message isn't clear or sincere. I do feel that if it was clear and unadultearated then it would draw more of our youth.
I going to say this, I don't agree with Hip Hop being in the church, in fact I don't consider the music that they are doing is hip hop, we call it R&P music or Christian Rap, why? Because it is truly a measure of how God is reaching out to the youth. The problem is many people are afraid of change, they are afraid how God is now using what the devil created for evil to be a degree of spiritual change. The youth of today listen to Christian Rap, how do I know? Because in my spare time I am a DJ for a small but productive radio station, and I tell you when I play that music and host a live discussion about it, I get a lot of feed back, and many youth of today, now have faith, they now believe, they now understand why God is calling them.We continue to down grade a tool that God is using to reach out to the mass, how do we expect people to change. When I was growing up, my Pastor used dance as a means to reach out to us, when my mother was growing up, her pastor used spiritual enlightment. It time for us to get personal in the word of God. Lets stop talking about, and put it into actions. We are now in a new empowerment for the year 2013, this is the year of Elevation, and I can tell you right now, many will not see or hear what God is saying, some will fight what God is trying to do, and others will be at peace in the presences of God and will enjoy the ride. The question is, which path are you going to take? Because I say this all the time to my congregation. "Many people are always saying God is not talking to people like he did in Paul time, but that is not true, God is speaking loud and clear, the question is are you truly listening? If you are listening, are you about action or just about talk? We serve a God of completion, we serve a God of action, we serve a God that wants us to make a difference in the lives of those who are seeking his will."It is time for us to be more then just a name, but become a mentor, worker, friend, counselor, and fellowship". It is time to move forward. It is time To Listen, to Learn and to Lead by the Holy Spirit. May God bless you all.
You are on target bishop! I agree wholeheartedly with you. If we don't stop limiting ourselves and begin yeilding to the Holy Spirit we are going to miss the move of God. Time out for religion. We a need relationship wiht God and one another. Our relationship with others starts with meeting them where they are.
i agree that hip hop in the worship service is non-negotionable. But it can be used as a vehicle tom spark the interest of our unchurched youth in our evangelism efforts. If you don't entertain the use of of hip hop in our quest to save, what the world has labled as, the X Generation then we will miss the margin and exclude some whose lives we may not otherwise touch.
We are called to be fishers of men ! When you go fishing you don't always use the same bait. You use different kinds of bait to catch different kind of fish. Paul said in I Cor. 9:22 "I have become all things to all men that I might win some to Christ" One of my brothers in the ministry had a Holy Hip Hop Explosion at his church in Texas. My self and another pastor from Alabama took 2 buses of youth there. It was different, fun and effective. The children had a great time and could relate on a greater spritual level. I came back and the next year my Youth put one on. Again if was fun, different but effective. The kids were able to hear christian rappers who were actually ministers who they could relate to and hear the gospel from. They got to ask adult christians hard questions in an open forum and express their opinions. We prayed, studied the word, had a basketball tournament(co-ed and the girls won),fashion show, and a local christion hip hop artist who was well known closed us out with a concert. Once again it was very effective.
The Word still draws or drives people to salvation. But we must have the wisdom to realize that God sent more than one kind of preacher to help the people hear from Him. He sent young as well as old and middle-age preachers. Age has nothing to do with your level of maturity in the Word. So lets keep an open mind in our quest to take the gospel to the world.
The truth shall be known from the mouths of babes and suckling
You will not be able to effectively build the house of God without being able to relate to the next generation. 1 Kings 5:1-7, Solomon allowed King Hiram to work with him to build the house of God. Failing to recogonize the anointing of other people will minimize the effectiveness of church outreach (evangelism).
The above text deals with two anointed kings who loved & respected each others anointing. King Hiram's gift to Solomon was to provide servants to help build the temple. Failure to love & respect another persons anointing will cause you to loose out on the gifts that God has placed within them to (help you) build his church.
King Hiram servants hewed cedar trees. Cedar trees were used for purification purposes. Another words all anointings are not acceptable. Some people are anointed for evil.
To many times you hear a so called pastor/bishop talking about his/her anointing. Their limited understanding of the anointing of other people keeps their ministry from going to the next level. Love & Respect - Sermon Excerpt: Understanding the Former and Latter Anointing!
I'm with you my brother. I understand.
welcome my postor in burundi to teach the church
Who cares about hip hop--what we need is PORN--now that is what church needs. Oh yeah, and goats and strippers and XX beer.
The only thing that does not belong in church is Alois Bell. Actually she does not belone in the human race.
And btw--the only reason I am posting is because she claims to be a memeber of your so called "Pastor" scam thing you all goin' on here.
When you talk about h ip hop are you talking about gospel rap? Because if that is the case then I would certainly allow gospel rap as long as Jesus is the title,. The one thing I remember is we are dealing with a geneation that is not like that of yesterday and it should be our desire to reach them. While the word of God never changes, the times does. For us to be effective in ministry, we must be able to reach people in all times.
Hello Rev Jenkins, and Greetings in The Name of OUR LORD & SAVIOR KING JESUS. My Name is Todd Newman. I am the Founder and Director of "Salt of The Earth" Production/Ministries. We travel around the northern east coast doing events & Evangelising. You know,,,, true OUTREACH?? Our Ministry is a little 'out of the box", meaning a tad unique. we do have several CHRISTIAN RAP ARTIST. I beleive that alot depends on the lyrical content of what is being displayed. Before anyone gets on the stage or before the audience/congregation/Children of GOD at a "Salt of The Earth" event, I must know a little about them/their walk with the LORD/why they are having the desire to do this music/& their ability to lyrically deliver testimonie, & strong Gospel based lyrical content. Rev Jenkins if you could see all the adolesents & young adults that our events have LEAD TO CHRIST, inspired, and helped to keep in focus with the Spirit of GOD!! This music (Rap & Contemperary Gospel/Ispiration) can usher in the spirit of GOD also, if done from the heart with lyrical content that is actually speak of deliverance, the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST, OR worship to the FATHER IN HEAVEN/JESUS CHRIST. WE(MAN) HAVE RESTRICTED GODS PRAISE..... Not by the AUTHORITY OF GOD OR JESUS CHRIST...... Does the music save them or keep them savedNO. But it is used as a tool to bring their attention to CHRIST & TO THE DELIVERANCE THAT GOD HAS BROUGHT TO SOME OF THESE YOUNG ADULTS & TEENS. Please Children of GOD, PUT DOWN OUR GAVELS OF JUDGEMENT,and lets meet our young where they are. As long as there is nothing going on against THE BIBLICAL SOUND DOCTRIN OF GOD. These man made controling roles are hendering us from recapturing our young. The adversary wants them & he is using music to try and take them and he is music, so it is a highly affective weapon for him.... But music was GODS gift,,, so lets counter react & take back our young. It is in ISAIAH THAT GOOD WILL USE MUSIC IN THESE DAYS AS **HIS**WEAPON. GODS GRACE MERCY, FAVOR, PEACE & BLESSINGS BE WITH YOU ALL,, IN THE MIGHTY NAME OF JESUS CHRIST OUR SAVIOR & KING!!!!!
Satan desires worship (Matthew 4:8-9). In the past, Satan used music to stir up people to
worship him (Daniel 3:7-10). In the last days all the world will worship the beast
(Revelation 13:3-4; 13:8; 13:12; 13:14-15; 19:20). It is quite likely that Satan will
incorporate music in the worship of the beast (Ezekiel 28:13). Interestingly, the devil
used “all kinds of music” (Daniel 3:5; 3:7; 3:10; 3:15) to encourage pagan worship and
idolatry, and the pagans leaped and cried out in a noisy frenzy when calling to their gods
(1 Kings 18:25-29). And as Solomon warns, if it happened in the past it will likely occur
in the future (Ecclesiastes 1:9; Revelation 9:20). Because music is such a powerful way to stir hearts
and emotions, and because experiential deceptions will be paramount in the last days (Mathew 24:24; 2
Thessalonians 2:9), we as Disciples of Christ must be extra careful to avoid employing
music that contradicts God’s revealed will. Believers in Christ “must worship (God) in
Spirit and truth” (John 4:24). Worshipping God with surrendered hearts, in accordance
with His Word, is what pleases Him: can't say that for Hip-Hop. Com-On in the church???
